What happened to this Luke Smith? ...and to bungie???

So I recently returned to the tweet Luke made upon splitting from activision, about how they were moving the game in a direction that was best for the dedicated playerbase and they were proud of Forsaken... and now I’m just wondering what happened. Activision left because Destiny was finally moving towards the dedicated playerbase again, and now between super sunsetting and no transparency with PvP (like literally 0 none no transparency at all they just tell us what they’re going to do and then do it like a week later), it feels like this has gone a complete 180 because it feels like we’re back in the D2 Y1 boat all over again. The game is lacking any endgame, Bungie is back to doing whatever the -blam!- they want, without regard to almost any community sentiment, and they aren’t even bothering to say “we hear you” anymore. Like seriously - not even any minor acknowledgement about the massive community backlash about super sunsetting. NONE!!! If they said “we’re working on a response” or “we’ll inform you of our plans after the break” then maybe we would have SOMETHING to cling on to. But we’ve gotten NOTHING!!! I don’t understand how Bungie is more silent NOW than back in the goddamn CoO days!!!!!!! This, uh... kinda turned into more of a rant than I intended, but it’s like 5:30 am rn and im basically shitposting xD

The problem is there is no other game like Destiny. Bungo has no rivals and thats bad because they can do whatever they want with the players. F**** bungo. Honestly. F**** them And smith is just an incompetent director, honestly. They dont have any idea about what a wizard is.

    • I wish D1 would come to pc but I know it won't, so instead me and my buddy redownloaded D1 on ps4 fresh accounts and are playing through from scratch. Good game, story didn't get deleted, more loot to earn and KEEP, the loot is cooler, no more sunsetting or micromanaging. Movement speed is faster<3, and we're stronger (aka power fantasy is still there). Would recommend.

    • I blame free to play. At first I thought it would be good but after looking into it more it's shocking how much is affected by free to play model including the no vendor refreshes we have to deal with.

    • What happened, isn't it obvious that Matter is more impotent to them than this game knowing this game is not getting the resources it should be getting that cutting a hell of a lot of corners is what is planned to take place? This game was literally put on the back burner for a mobile game company that is also a board member now. Think about that for a moment. Bungie went from Activision that had what this game needed that the game was actually getting new content to a mobile game company that now we are basically just getting D1 copy and paste work. Money, nor manpower is the issue here and it never has been. On top of all this, they had the never to charge the player base nearly the full price of new releases with these cheap throw away seasonal content that they have us pay extra just to get a tiny bit of loot added to the game. When people wake up to reality and see that Bungie put this game on the back burner and will never put the effort into creating an expansion that got the game moving forward, like Forsaken. The better off this entire forum will be knowing, what you see now is what they plan for the future with more false promises. Got to love how they abuse the license agreement, "subject to change".

        • Likely sold out for more money. Usually that's how all good things end up going, anyway. Keeping the micro transactions a priority instead of real story. Eventually the gear won't hold enough value to buy skins or currencies. Since Warmind released I've never felt like the game captured my attention like D1 did. Until there's a complete story I'm not investing more money. Core activities like strikes and crucible get me to play maybe three times a month now. Knowing Luke has already stated there will never be a big DLC going forward is what kills my interest. Season after season I just play less...

        • I remember the announcement about sunsetting and all the backlash was way before they actually did it. They didn't care how the community felt and did it despite the backlash. Same exact thing that's going on with supers, they mentioned it now around this time next year they will do it, despite the backlash. Because we don't matter

No, Activision left because bungie couldn't honor the 3 game contract and build D3. Games make mega money, expansions keep games ticking over. Activision are a public company who aim to make money, not tick over. They scraped Europa together and have been cutting corners for years now. A full studio could have built D3, but they chose a tiny team to squeeze out minimum viable product and put the big boys building new games. Destiny is clearly not studio focus anymore, feels like it's run on fumes, clear as day.

            • Activision dumped Bungie because Destiny was stolen from its original creator, Joe Staten, and then turned into "Luke Smith's Fantasy Land" with his crony Joegoroth from their WoW Scrublord days and everything thus has been a pathetic attempt to recreate Luke's Warcraft ego-trip experience. They even managed to create a new Gjallarhorn dilemma in the new raid with requiring divinity and anarchy lmao.

                • I seem to recall Bungie also stating that they don't want us to feel like our time has been wasted. They want us to feel like our time is respected. Which is exactly why they invalidated three years of our collections.

                  • I see posts like this, and I don’t know whether I’m supposed to laugh, or cry. Remember the “Remove Enhancement Cores from Infusion” movement? A lot of us were trying to tell the rest of you about the direction this franchise was heading in, and we were met by by contempt and derision by the ‘hardcore’. Am I happy about what’s happening to Destiny? No, no I’m not. But I also don’t feel any sympathy for all you complainers. Instead of trying to put the fire out when it was still a small ( manageable ) flame, you waited until the whole entire house burnt down before before you made an attempt to confront the problem.

                    • It’s not just him. Changing to direction of the game to become a Fortnite/WoW hybrid coupled with the Season Pass to instill FOMO and reskin , rehash, reuse previous content and hype it as new was a group decision. Maximum profit for minimal new development. This is Destiny now.

                      • Luke doesn't care - at all. The sunsetting decision needs to impact Bungie's financials to make Parsons do something (and he ultimately will if the revenue declines). Stop playing. Definitely stop buying silver. Vote with your time and your wallet and the game might actually be saved. Crazy that Bungie allowed these types of decisions that alienate so many players. Maybe Parsons is the real problem since he allowed this to get this far.

                        • Bungie has always been this way Their relationship with activison was a lazy one, they constantly said activison was asking impossible things from them when they weren’t they were just asking them to make normal and good content at a rate a dev should work at The laziness got so bad they sent in Highmoon and Vicarious Vision to make content for the game and those two small stuidos made the best content for the game Now its gotten worse, Bungie is back to being lazy, now they are greedy, and act like they are suffering

                        • Yeah, so, literally did the opposite of everything they’ve said. Ever. Exact opposite. No fomo: remove true prophecy from game Play the way we want: sunset everything we want to use Respect our time: vault everything we paid for and dripfeed old content (aka sunset reckoning gnawing hunger and reissue the following season for exact rolls) Most important part of all: literally took away DLCs we’ve PAID FOR! You know how infuriating that is? That’s like you BUYing a car brand new, drive it for 2 years or whatever and then dealership is like oh yeah we are taking it back, no refund, but here, you can have the left wheel tho....

                          • I've stopped caring. Let them steamroll over complaints, wish lists, etc. I'll play whatever's free, and maybe someday pay for another game service that's worth my money. I'm done buying more, and Bungie knows I'm not the only one. It's so easy to say no.

                            • Honestly it feels like they did what they did to try to force Activision to let them go so they could go focus on other things like their new IP, meanwhile they use this to get money to fund their other crap while they steadily run this into the ground. Didn't they say themselves that the seasonal model isn't working and that they should move away from it? Why are we still fully committed to another 2 years of it then? Is this the last 2 years of Destiny and they plan to just squeeze as much money out of this as possible with minimal effort? Cause its starting to feel that way, especially with the news of supers looking at being sunset for no good reason except Luke deciding so.
