its exotic perk is a joke(lets just say it sucks and useless in pvp and pointless in pve) and it needs more range equal to that of ace of spades The stats are good other then range but its exotic perk is rarely ever useful in pvp and only just good in pve as long as the monster your trying to dps doesnt melt you. Its not worth an exotic slot they shouldve never brought it back lets pray they dont try to being back Gjallarhorn

  • It's fine, a catalyst for range would be decent though. In a 1v1 it'll pretty much lose to Crimson and Ace.

      Actually, I like the gun we got in D2 way better, it’s not a brain dead weapon anymore. You actually have to be conscious about how you use it. Basically, the gun allows you to engage 3 targets. If you 3tap the first two in the head, you get a 1tap for your last kill. If you get into a gunfight after getting one kill with it and you miss a few shots, you’re still guaranteed to get a second kill because of that last round. Getting your first kill with 3 headshots and your second one with 2 head shots and 2 body shots makes your third kill a guaranteed 2tap in the head. The gun basically allows you to win some gunfights that you wouldn’t have otherwise. Add to this the fact that you can stow the gun and still get the bonus with only 2 rounds left and you get a really good gun but not an OP one. Also, because of that perk, when playing against laid back opponents who peak shot and disengage a lot, you will still end up getting a kill in the end because of the 2tap or 1tap potential of the gun.

    • Hawkmoon is pants. Particularly for players luke me who never played D1. It is a good HC not even the best if it is a legendary. It is certainly not an exotic and way too restrictive.

      • Learn your stacks and you can 2 tap, 1 tap, and 3 tap from way further out. The gun doesn’t have the “momentum” that Thorn and Ace has that’s for sure. But it’s still good and a top tier 140 for elimination/trials.

        It’s skill gap of usage is too great, even with its high stats. You might think I’m crazy saying this, but you actually don’t realize how bad most people really are at landing shots in pvp. This is actually the main problem with a very high percentage of players in the destiny community, especially with hand cannons in particular. Ace of spades and thorn are more consistent with with getting kills then hawkmoon and paracausal shot. The reality is that despite what streamers think, even with its very high aim assist, most players CANNOT consistently use it to its full potential to 2 or 1 tap, compared to thorn or ace, which I’ll say have more momentum in game anyway with THEIR exotic perks. Most players actually die in pvp before they can actually trigger paracasal shot. Players only need 1 kill to trigger momento Moro or mark of the devourer and slay from their. This is the reality of hawkmoon compared to its competing exotic hand cannons. This is simply a VERY HIGH skill gap weapon compared to its counterparts, despite its stats. And before you argue it’s easy to use. I just ask if you 1 thing. Do a small pvp test. Obsearve for maybe an hour or so of people playing with hawkmoon in pvp. Maybe have a friend instead who I would say is mid tier in pvp skills try the gun. This is what your looking for How often did they get to trigger paracasal shot to 1 or 2 tap How often they died trying to build it up and have to restart How often they got to 5/7 paracausal shot stored How often they hit the final shot. Through observing and asking these questions, you’ll see the reality of why hawkmoon is actually for the most elite players.

        • Pointless in PvE... Wut? Its actually fantastic. Killing adds with precision gives you that last bullet damage for mejors or ultras. Hitting a bosses crits will melt their health. If my lement wasn't at max light, I'd be using it in master nightfall like I have done.

          • I wouldn’t say that. If anything was to be done, I’d say up the mag size to 10 in PVE ONLY. Gun handles great, And rewards an accurate hand.

            The perk only "sucks" if you have difficulty landing head shots. If you can land them with consistency? This Hawkmoon is better and more reliable than the pre-nerf Original. (I loved the True Vanguard video of him one-banging someone out of their super with a stack of 6) In PvE I've landed critical shots of 63,000+ That is enough to one-bang a Vex Minotaur THROUGH its fully-intact shield. But to leverage this power, you need to be able to SHOOT STRAIGHT.

          • It's potential dps is insane for a primary. At least against Dregs in the EDZ, it's crit damage jumps from just short of I think 5,200 to just short of 94,000. Majors and above take reduced damage, I can't remember how much, but against minors, it can do up to about 130,400 in one clip. Probably the only other primary that can do this kind of damage in one clip is Tarrabah, if not, it's buff can last 3 or 4 clips so I think it's potential dps is higher anyway. Back to Hawkmoon though. Here are the things I would do to it (not all at once) to improve it's performance. First, fix the bug on it. Even if it kills the enemy, if your second to final round is not a crit, you won't gain that last stack. Try it against enemies that can die in one body shot if you don't believe me, it'd really suck to lose that OHK round because you killed someone with a body shot and not a head shot on round 7. As for the actual changes? The first thing that comes to mind is add Triple Tap or 4th Times the Charm and increase the number of stacks accordingly. It's PVE damage would skyrocket for sure. The second option is increase the number of stacks gained through precision kills. Though this would definitely increase the number of OHKs in PVP. The third option would be sort of a mix between Memento Mori and Overcharged rounds from Sturm/ Drang with a few ways to go about it: 1. Reloading after a kill grants a bonus damage round earlier in the mag. Scaling with PC rounds could break it though. 2. Precision kills increase the damage of your next shot. If target dies to that shot, that bonus is added to the next round. 3. Holding reload on your final round will grant bonus damage on the next clip and scale based on the number of stacks. 7 stacks will increase the damage of that mag by 28-33%. Bonus will only work for every other mag and is lost upon weapon stow and reload. There's more I'm forgetting I'm sure.

              My only issue with Hawkmoon is that it really is no different than your standard "god roll" Legendary Handcannon even with it "random" perk. Like straight up, my God Roll Austringer' stats nearly match Hawkmoon 1:1 but it has Rangefinder + Eye of the storm with less handling. Paracausal is nice, as it does feel good to save up the shot and 1 bang a major enemy. Gives me found flashbacks of nuking Lost sector bosses with old Luna's Howl. It would've been nice if it had Icarus or a hybrid of Icarus and Killing Wind instead of the "random perk" perk. That being said I'm more than likely going for Killing Wind when we can farm for it.
