*Excluding Mountaintop and Wave Frame Grenade Launchers*
Single-shot grenade launchers bounce off targets half the time. I always release the projectile when the projectile is next to enemies but it still usually just bounces off enemies. This includes Fighting Lion, Orowin’s Maul, Truthteller, Militia’s Birthright, etc.
Please fix this, Bungie! Make it so the projectiles explode upon impact and remove the “bounce” effect of these GL’s.
I understand you incorporated the bounce for balancing purposes, but there’s got to be a better way to balance them with fusions, shotguns, and snipers also being options we can choose with much more ease of use and much more consistency.

I almost primary my single shot grenade launcher hip fire without aiming. I can't imagine if it didn't bounce. I NEED it to bounce. I single click and hit targets directly I don't trigger delay etc. I'm too busy lining up the next shot and strafe dodging.

3 RepliesWhat’s causing that is a you being too close. GLs have a set MINIMUM “timer” before they can detonate even if you let go of the trigger. If you have a very high velocity roll or are getting too close, they will bounce. Recommendation: Go for rolls with low velocity if you are using a GL that doesn’t have prox nades. Side note: GLs are the easiest special weapon to use lol wym snipers and fusions are easier lol

When I play with them, sometimes I can bounce it on an enemy and wedge it on there gun or something, it basically doubles the damage I do. Removing it would hurt. Just get more aquanted with it and learn when to detonate.
-
Mate. Don't you dare ruin them. Don't you dare. That's what you'd be doing. Ruining them.
-
This would be a nerf. With enough skill, you can hit enemies around corners with the bounce, even in PvP.
-
8 RepliesNo, get good. Practice with fighting Lion in strikes or some shit, I’m only at 3k kills with fighting lion and already can use it very effectively. The grenade always detonated on impact with an enemy.
-
Give em the old boink and boom. It always works

3 Replies🧐 Did I really just read that you want to remove bounce from Breechloads? I can only imagine it is your ignorance that makes you believe such a notion would be a benefit. Bouncing makes grenades able to explode quicker. I literally bounce them intentionally at ranges too close to let it fly. I think you need to play with them more. Removing bounce would effectively kill them at short range.

1 ReplyOr... learn how to use it properly.
-
It’s not rng at all It’s something called depth perception and hand eye coordination Both of which I think you need to improve on before attempting I have no issues with using them at all and either does other players
-
The single shot grenade launchers have like a set distance they need to travel in order for controlled detonation to work. So there are going to be times where you may have barely mistimed your button release and so it will just zip past them because of the set distance thing. As for the ricochet on enemies...I don't even think holding the button stops them from instantly exploding on enemies...does it? It's been awhile.

As someone who uses Breechloaded GLs a ton, this is a terrible idea.
-
4 RepliesNo. The bounce and remote det is extremely useful for those gls. Just practice.

Edited by JazzyPaladin477: 12/23/2020 4:44:45 PMEven worse when they don’t bounce off the target and just straight through, no damage or detonation even even with prox or spike grenades.

This is the irony of the mountain top nerf. This was the only perk that made the weapon good. That's what sunsetting did, made all single shot made launchers generally useless. Just like shotguns fusions and snipers it took time to get good with this type of weapon but it was a fantastic counter to any energy weapon build so it had to go since the majority of the pvp sweat community is only good at shotgun spring, so they cried and cried till they got everything that made them have to actually think about their load out nerfed to the ground.
-
No. Bounce lets you ricochet shots into tight places.
-
I strongly disagree. Not being mean or rude, but you must be doing something wrong. As someone with over 60k kills with Lion, I love the bounce. You might try aiming at the ground just before the target, letting it hit and bounce, then release as it hits them. Ngl, it takes some getting used to with these. When I started using Lion, I was just working on weapon catalysts and actually gave up on it for a short time cause I was really bad with it. Then I decided to try again, and by the time I got the cat done i was in love. Now I use it more as a primary.

1 ReplyHow bout just get better with grenade launchers? Fighting lion is one of the funnest exotic weapons
-
Spike grenades say hi
-
6 RepliesAt most add a perk that removes it.
-
Keep practicing, you'll get the hang of them.
-
Just release the trigger at the right time
-
Get better?

1 ReplyI'm pretty sure this is intentional as a balancing tool. The minimum arming distance limits special grenade launchers at close range, and travel time limits them at long. In PvP, if grenades could be airburst immediately, they would override the niche that shotguns are supposed to fill, and the travel time makes them weaker at range then snipers. Think of them as a higher skill/higher reward fusion rifle. Direct hits always detonate so that they can be used at point blank, but require better aim, and have a forced reload to punish misses. I think the bounce is good, for those reasons, and also for the unique utility they offer by bouncing around corners. In PvE you're almost always gonna direct hit, and in PvP the minimum arming distance serves as a balancing tool - so overall, I think the bounce is a good thing.

Here’s an idea practice with them they aren’t that hard to use their hard to master
-
You just suck with them then, that would make them too easy and take out the element of skill. I never have trouble securing kills with truthteller or the banner launcher.
