We all know stasis is great in PVE content but has it ruined PVP?

Edited by ArisEve: 3/3/2021 6:44:38 PMI have 10k kills with several weapons, hundreds of thousands of kills and final blows. The void hunter is my main and is also the weakest class in game. They took out felwinters lie and its abused beyond belief. The titan class is rediculous quite often, no matter the skill, and stasis is the most -blam!- thing ive ever witnessed They are making it stronger. Can I still cancel it? About 30 percent of the time can I cancel it with super. My void grenades do zero damage Throwing smoke is dumb and does nothing to nobody but occasionally get a kill by smacking someone in the face The half map stasis slide with felwinter is dumb Stasis can even escape or blatantly ignore shadowshot completely There is absolutely zero counters for such an obtuse subclass I can still hold above 1kd and I'm still usually first place and can still rack 30 kills a match But half the time I'm playing I'm matched up with 6 stasis players all using some bunk bull fellwinter crap or 6 titans traveling a mile per slide And you just wrecked where the match is called after 2 minutes if that. Titans can lap the map and kill all 6 players, travel to respawn and kill all 6 again in 1 super. The game of destiny is so unbalanced it's nearly unplayable unless you spent years honing skill Even then your going to get your ass kicked 75 percent of the time My win loss rate is 30 something percent playing with random players, no fireteam and noone captures zones so almost every match is a loss even if I kill 50. Me and bungie are separated on a permanent basis I'll never play another game of theirs There isn't a single subclass that even comes close , I mean miles apart from stasis. I refuse to use it and I have it obviously. Bungie could never figure out how to balance where you had both options All they can do is remove 1 option so the meta follows plan C. It's always tit for tat. They finally fixed hard light and they nerfed it. Unusable Finally made suros viable now unused. Shotguns were good when they nerfed range but they offered felwinters lie which can hit a target while you aim at the sky it seems from a range not quantifiable. It's the only shotty used now and is unobtainable. The list goes on. They added a 1 shot pistol to trials collection. Couple these things with stasis and it's so much cheese it could bury a nacho dorito. All I do is shout explititives where sometimes you can literally die and get wiped every spawn immediately for 10 straight minutes seeing almost 20 supers in 1 match from the opposing team with max int and cooldown modifiers Most crucible matches look like this Me : 10 kills, 1.0kd 5 captures Player 2: 4 kills, .48kd, 0 cap Player3: 7 kills, .23kd, 0 cap Player4: 3 kills, .18kd, 0 cap Player5: 0 kills, 0kd, 0 cap Player 6: quit Enemy 1: 38 kills 28 kd 5 caps Enemy 2 48 kills 48kd 7 caps Enemy 3 27 kills 14 kd 5 caps Enemy 4 54 kills 54kd 7 caps Enemy 5 28 kills 28kd 0 caps Enemy 6 30 kills 6 kd 4 caps

Edited by Tlaloc: 2/26/2021 5:06:52 PMStasis made the game more passive, campy and boring, it affected us rushers forcing us to camp more, I personally don't like it. The Titan super is particularly OP

The whole idea sucks. Tired of it getting in the way in PVE. I don’t play much PVP. Just strikes for Bright Dust. I never use it and won’t do anything that requires it.

Coming from a player that has only been in the D2 community for less than a year and I can already tell you that Stasis has definitely ruined PvP in Destiny. The classes are not balanced, add in the use of new exotic armor that prolongs and adds additional freeze to your stasis abilities and the prolonged freezing time, means that gun fight and skill is no longer needed. The PvP player base that Bungie has relied on for new gamers is slowly dwindling because of Stasis. The grenades are less of a bother than those players that hike up their intellect and rely solely on their super to get the kill, it ruins the game mode. Titans, by far, have the strongest Stasis super with only Warlocks ability to challenge. Hunters super has good mobility to throw the sickle and then turn to throw the tornado elsewhere, but unless you are an ace with a shot that super is not killing anyone, you will have to follow up with gun fire and by the time this all happens the freeze time is done and you are TKO, let's not mention it is the easiest super to avoid. With Titans now being able to basically slide across the map and kill you instantly behind and ice wall is beyond frustrating. The fact that Warlocks are able to heavy attack and light attach right after, from anywhere on the map, and get the kill is unacceptable. There should be radius barrier for the kill, just like your guns range. The amount of bugs and glitches that have been exploited is another issue in itself (Ice wall grenade jump, supers being able to go out of bounds without dying, infinite warlock super, etc.). Some suggestions I would make that go from extreme to realistic are; take Statis out of PvP (disable in Crucible game mode), nerf some of the Titan and Warlock super ability and longevity, add fragments and aspects to the other subclasses to bolster their effectiveness, add tracking to sickle and enhance the tracking on shurikens for Hunters, lessen actual freeze time, fix the break out animation timing to 3 seconds and lastly cap intellect mods if Stasis sticks around in PvP.

For sure! I have only been in a couple times since Beyond Light. Stasis sucked the fun from the game; especially the PVP. It’s overpowered compared to other supers, the freezing component is NOT fun (both getting and giving) and it feels terrible to be told, meh, the light is ok, but darkness is where it’s at. Uhh, ok? The game is forcing stasis on us, and it feels terrible for it. They killed off a ton of our gear and then forced a lame darkness power on us. Phew! Fuuuuun stuff. Once the armor sun-setting really kicks in next season, this game is going to get lost for me.

Edited by Tipper II7: 1/9/2021 5:12:40 AMAll I can say is this. I dropped destiny 2 after its initial release. Finally decided to give it another try. I got another couple of people to jump on board and try it again. One of them is outright done playing this game permanently until stasis is removed or nerfed. The other is about done with pvp. As far as PVP goes, I'm not a fan of stasis. It's abilities and supers trump just about anything else. And it will never feel good/ok/fun to have control of my character completely stripped so that I can watch helplessly as I'm executed without a chance to fight back. There is nothing fun about that. Especially when there's 4-6 people on the other team using stasis, you never get away from it. There's no hiding from it. I believe there's a place for stasis, but not in its current form. And it's definitely causing me to avoid crucible all together.

Yes. I’ve been playing destiny since Sep 13, 2014. Unfortunately my account got banned. Hence this one new profile. But bungie ruined destiny with stasis. There is no counter attack for the abilities/super. You just break through some bullshit ice. I haven’t touched destiny since a few days after stasis came out. Being with bungie so long. They ruined the whole destiny franchise for me. They definitely know how to break a potential great game.

1 ReplyIn PvE the abilities are amazingly fun to use. But in competitive pvp and things like trials, there genuinely is little to no viable and consistent counters to it. Hard to actually get gun play when all it is, is a battle of abilities. All classes have things which make them very overpowered but I personally feel like Bungie caters to Titans too much, and their stasis abilities, fragments and aspects, and super are all much more beneficial to say the abilities of a hunter. Stasis should not be removed but maybe in crucible we change it from completely frozen to just slowed to the max. This would allow for a fighting chance to the stasis’d person. Also maybe let’s hold off on making one class a bit stronger than the others (titan), the slide, controlled shoulder slam which can legit turn 180 degrees, makes it over all more mobile than a stompee hunter or icarus warlock...

Definatly ruined comp. Before it used to be people complaining about snipers, but snipers take skill. Now when I jump in a comp game I can't go 5 seconds without getting frozen by some shitty grenade and then shotgunned to the face whilst not being able to move. Stasis is made for people who can't hit anyone unless they are completely frozen in place. Definatly ruined Competetive PvP. Its not that we can't adapt its that there is no counter to it.

4 RepliesEdited by Knightlight: 12/16/2020 5:32:52 AMShatter damage should be lowered. Just make the titan melee a one shot instead of it launching you across the map. Freezing isn't as big of an issue anymore. Also supers should only be frozen by other supers. Not by other abilities. At least you can still move if a titan throws a suppression gernade at you. I just feel like not being able to move or even shoot is a "bullshit" way to go. Atleast with past op things like prenerfed striker titan you could still fight back and maybe win out. But stasis just takes all the skill out of the gunfight.,

I'm a pve player who dips into pvp for pinnacles and the occasional game for fun. I take pvp no more seriously than Gambit. From this perspective, stasis is fine. Quite fun. For serious pvp people I can see how it could get really old, really fast.
-
3 RepliesRecently back to Destiny 2 since launch and I can't stand crucible because of stasis. Crucible used to be my favorite mode but losing control of my character every 20 seconds while someone gets to take free shots at me or just shatter me while I am hopelessly mashing V is just the opposite of fun.
-
Not ruined but definitely worse
-
1 ReplyI don't use it. I still get my share of kills.
-
When the stasis freezes you I think that's kinda stupid. I mean come on! How does bungie expect us to do anything if they freeze us and then kill us? In a way it does ruin it because people want to play because they have skill not because they get killed by sissy crystals.
-
Use it or lose...

1 ReplyStasis didn't run pvp, bungie did
-
for me yes. my two cents. i'm mostly playing warzone and cod modern warfare now for pvp. I jumped into iron banner out of boredom yesterday. But stasis had me angry. got 4 pinnacles and quit immediately. no more Destiny for a while. Stasis makes destiny an ability spam and super game and i really want a pvp experience that where gun skill plays a bigger role. Second, i fundamentally don't like a freezing mechanic in a pvp game. For the record i'm not a fan of any invisibility mechanic either generally. but thats just me. I don't do destiny pve unless forced to to get a weapon for pvp (like mindbenders). thus at the moment i don't do much Destiny at all. on top of that, no vendor refreshes, no new maps, not iron banner new weapons, nothing for playing comp. so i kinda have no reason to play. At least no goal to shoot for. The past few seasons i only played to achieve a goal of going unbroken. I got that and now i don't have much reason left to play and i loathe stasis.

14 RepliesStasis is the biggest crutch so people are gonna be biased on it anyway
-
Frustrating more than anything. Getting frozen and killed by someone looking in the wrong direction is just crass. I cannot even get a kill on iron banner bounty unless I land a direct hit with my tether.
-
3 RepliesNo. The players saying that it has ruined it are the people going into it for the pinnacles only. Good PvP players can work around it. They mad cuz bad.
-
9 RepliesI'm a good pvp player, but stasis dropped my kd ratio from about 2ish to 0.5ish. It's a crutch, something easy to get, reliable, and extremely strong.
-
4 RepliesNope, it's finally fun.
-
It's far more "shitfesty" with less shooting. First Person Shooter vs First Person Shitfest
-
It's made it far more challenging. Harder, yes. Ruined? No.
