I have a friend who has a disability that means bright flashes, particularly bloom, is at minimum a horrible migraine if exposed for not much time at all. Bungie does not have a way for people to disable Bloom, and the usual methods (i.e. Reshade) are blocked/get you banned.
For purely accessibility reasons, please, there needs to be a way to disable bloom.

Yes please bungie! The bloom is way to intense I wanna turn it off! Its so bright it hurt my eyes in some places but if I lower brightness its so dark I cant see anything in other places...

11 RepliesYou probably mean muzzle flash, bloom shouldn't be flickering unless there's something wrong with your GPU/Driver. If you are referring to muzzle flash, I completely agree, even though I'm not epileptic or anything some weapons (mainly auto rifles like gnawing hunger or arc logic) are unusable because of the blinding muzzle flash hurting my eyes.

1 ReplyAs someone stated below, the blue light from electronic displays is harmful in general. Exposure to this kind of light is highly disruptive to melatonin production and sleep patterns. People should stop using electronic displays hours before bedtime. If your friend is sensitive to the point of migraines, he should invest in a pair of amber, blue light-blocking glasses. These can cost $50-75, but are worth it if he can't game without blinding headaches. I get migraines too, and while I'm nowhere near as susceptible as he, I can certainly sympathize.

Edited by Pilcrow: 12/13/2020 2:50:51 PMI asked for this over the years. Never got it. The flashing kills my brain also. Tell him to change the color settings to red/yellow to help reduce the blues. The color blue is what gives you a headache. The flashing will give you the migraine. You can wear shaded glasses and it will help reduce the issue. But wearing glassed and a headset for 30 minutes will give you a migraine also haha. I wish bungie would allow us to remove the gun flash and explosions. Everything is overly bright/bright blue.

Anyone remember the autorifle Arc Logic practically setting off flash bangs in your face each time it’s fired? Or the recent Forward Path? MTash: “there should be a way to tape the trigger down and throw it around a corner to blind everyone while I go in and clean up the kills”

Theres a reason why video games have warning messages about this when you start the game

Edited by Dante: 12/13/2020 4:13:28 PMwhy this option is not a thing yet is beyond me, bloom in this game is so anyoing that i should probably play in sunglasses

8 RepliesDoes he by chance have HDR turned on in the video settings? If so turn it off. Their implementation of HDR is horrid.

1 Reply100% for this, the flashes are straight up annoying especially when enemies are shooting explosives at you or when you use titan melee, it makes me squint and not want to look at the screen

2 RepliesBloom? You mean muzzle flash?
-
1 ReplyWhat if you turned your brightness down? Obviously it wouldn’t be as vibrant, but you would lessen the impact of bright flashes.
Sorry, all out of salt.
1 ReplyAs someone who gets frequent headaches/migraines, I couldn’t agree more with this.

3 RepliesI have noticed a significant difference now that ps5 upgrade is here in how badly all of that destroyed my eyes. 60fps 105 slider and a great monitor has given me so much relief
