Hear me out on this one. No new planets have been announced to be unvaulted next year. They could just leave it a floating destination, but that would be a bit weird, all previous raids being tied to a destination.
So it will be tied to a destination, but where?
For this we look at Crucible maps. We actually have quite a few D1 Crucible maps in D2, they just have had a reskin. The map the Forgotten Shore (I believe that's the name), used to have a much greener look to it, because was located on Venus.
It is now on Nessus.
With Io gone, Nessus is the only planet with a large Vex presence. Also, it is the only planet not vaulted (besides the EDZ) that does not tie in with the Forsaken story, the Shadowkeep story, or the Beyond Light story. Besides a few strikes, there is nothing to do on Nessus.
Placing the Vault of Glass on Nessus wouldn't be to hard to justify either. Vex like to bend the rules of time and space a lot. Creating things that exist in two places at once is easy for them to do.
Having it on Nessus would also make it new enough to keep it interesting for D1 players while still keeping it a nostalgic raid experience.
For all these reasons, I believe the Vault of Glass will be returning on Nessus.

Last week when we had a dev update and they showed a proto type transmorg screen it also metioned the return of Venus implying it will be possibly a new destination as well as the raid itself. Hope so as I miss regularly patrolling Venus although you can still play D1 of course.

3 RepliesNah, Venus will return bud.

11 RepliesMakes absolutely no sense why it would be on Nessus. So the vex just up and moved their entire VOG to a new planetary location?
-
1 ReplyIm not gonna make any friends with this, but i hope they make different encounters in the new VOG. being the same would not be really fun.

1 ReplyIn terms of lore perspective , why do you think VoG is returning?, From forsaken, each seasons that comes after it is tied to the big expansion. Season of arrivals and shadowkeep has a connection of pyramids. I think the reason VoG is returning because the vex themselves have fixed the Vog. In beyond light, Eramis was not the danger but her actions which would be leading to opening vex portal. when variks argues she says a lot of fallen would die but that’s good or something like that.

We have a mystery slot on the current map, so they might have Venus return in season 14, I mean, look at the moon monitors, they are literately saying the planets name...
-
There will be a lore entry saying Osiris found a new entrance to VOG on another planet ,probably Nessus ,and Atheon and The Templar have been rebuilt and we must stop them or they could erase everything we have accomplished

3 RepliesEh, I say they'll reuse the vex gate ikora built, for us to access the vault since its entrqnce on venus is no longer there.

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 12/14/2020 2:15:16 AMThe Vault exists in a Vex controlled dimension. Technically it can be accessed from any gate designed to reach it. So any location. A moon, planet, space station, whatever. Just need a Vex gate that can reach it.

I can’t really remember (maybe i’ll have a look in d1 tomorrow) isn’t there a vex gate where you first spawn in, you know the opening of the vault area where you could help others if you were there on Venus, like i said I’m unsure but i feel like there was a gate there... just hook that thing up to where ever the raid icon will take place. also wasn’t there a piece of dialogue saying if you entered the pyramidion on io and exit it you could end up somewhere else think europa is one of them exits

1 ReplyEdited by Grays_KS27: 12/13/2020 1:18:41 AMThe Vault isn’t bound by space and time and existed before Venus ever existed, so yeah, the Vex could probably connect it to Venus. Or simply have a portal to it. I believe Bungie will do the same thing they did with Gardenia Salvation and Scourge of the Past: Put the icon wherever the heck they want and have the Raid just take place in the correct location. They might put the icon on Nessus, but currently the Cosmodrome is getting all the additional content and VoG will be another D1 reprise along with more Cosmodrome content, so it would make sense for Bungie to put the icon in the Cosmodrome map. Either way, I believe the Vault will still be on Venus.

2 RepliesTerminals on the moon are now showing Venus on their displays. The whole planet doesn’t need to return, just the raid area.

I feel you, i also theorize that we will be fending off a fallen invasion on the vog and end up repelling the vex for a bit too .

1 ReplyI'll see you on Venus in 2 seasons

1 ReplyCould also be through one of the Vex puramidians on Europa
