Now I know the general consensus for Hawkmoon is that Bungie doesn't want to add any form of Ammo perks on the gun so that it doesn't become unbalanced to the point that we have a pocket Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun on our hands, so things like Triple Tap, Fourth Times the Charm, and Auto-Loading Holster are off the table.
The current weapon traits that are able to roll with Hawkmoon are:
Opening Shot
Rangefinder
Moving Target
Killing Wind
Snapshot Sights
Eye of the Storm
Hip-Fire Grip
Quickdraw
Surplus
However, there is one Ammo perk that I feel would fit nicely with the gun as well as its history of being a random chance weapon.
The perk I would like to see on Hawkmoon as a potential perk roll is Mulligan. Mulligan in its current form only restores one bullet to the magazine of a weapon whenever you completely miss a shot on an enemy, but the effect of this happening has a small chance of activating. This means that even though it does restore ammo to the gun, you still won't be able to stack Paracasul Shots past seven.
Mulligan is also not uncommon to see on primary weapons as both Reckless Oracle from Garden of Salvation and Death Adder from The Prophecy Dungeon can both roll with this perk if you're lucky to get the perk.
You are free to debate whether this would be a great choice for the gun or a bad one. I just thought it would be a good fit for the gun since you have a perk that randomly activates with a weapon that had a history of being random whenever you fired it.

Rapid hit??

6 RepliesRangefinder would be nice. Lemme ask a dumb question, how would we get a second drop of Hawkmoon after we do the quest? Random world drop?
-
Personally I like how they reworked it. Though I liked the D1 version better I still love the gun now as well. I do think it could use a bit of a mag increase even if the rounds stayed hard capped at x7 I'm fine with it. The gun just feels so great to use exotic perk aside. And I'm super excited to grind for a roll with different barrels and something like killing wind, opening shot or rangefinder on it.

I think random rolled exotics are a bad idea, all hawkmoons should be the same -
Edited by Reshsafari: 12/11/2020 2:07:27 PMWhat it should have been is a set of exclusive perks that can only exist on hawkmoon. Like a perk that retains the hawk shot after reload. A perk that has a chance to grant additional stacks to the hawk shot A perk that instantly reloads the magazine on a kill with hawk shot I could go on. A change to the weapon so the hawk shot is not removed when switching weapons

Nah it needs high impact reserves

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 12/11/2020 11:56:42 AMNice idea, though it could backfire by making wasting excess shots to hit the last one on the magazine that bit more inconsistent. Also to the folks complaining about the random perks, I dont feel it's that bad. Randomness was always part of hawkmoon's design. This was a way to carry that aspect over without implementing random OHKs / 2-taps into the sandbox. I feel it's a nice wink towards d1 hawkmoon as long as d2 hawkmoon'll be the only exotic with random rolls.

Mulligan? No... the perk it needs to be able to roll with is High Impact Reserves. It would compliment its Paracausal shot perfectly and fit more with its theme.

2 RepliesReally not a fan of what they did to hawkmoon. Especially in the mag department. Its used to have 13 why is it 9 now?

1 ReplyEdited by Birth: 12/11/2020 1:17:31 AMThey might as well just make it a Legendary and a Pinnacle Weapon at this point.

Would’ve liked perks that are valuable in pve too. More range is ok I guess but how often is that really an issue in pve. Most of the time you can just walk closer and if it’s too dangerous to then you should be using something else anyways.

1 ReplyYou don't want extra rounds in the clip though as the whole point is the last round does loads of damage. It'd take longer to get to the last round.

Edited by Artemis Luna: 12/11/2020 1:32:06 AMPeople have demonstrated that the Paracausal Shot stacks are hard-capped at 7x anyway, you can already add ammo to the mag using the Illegally Modded Holster perk on the Hunter exotic Lucky Pants, but it still isn't possible to have more than 7 stacks when you fire the final shot. The addition of perks like triple-tap wouldn't actually make it any more OP in terms of damage output, it would just make building the stacks more forgiving much like with the Mulligan perk as you could afford to miss a shot or two and still build the full 7 stacks by the end of the mag. Though I do agree with you that Mulligan being a random chance fits the gambling theme of the gun best.

3 Repliesjust needs a catalyst that gives it luck in the chamber, with a caveat that it's never the final round.
-
1 Replyman to write all that just to ask for mulligan in the perk pool, thats some serious dedication or too much free time lol
-
Why does bungie think Hip fire grip is a good perk. It's so useless
-
11 RepliesOr just add luck in the chamber in there too, that’s always an option.
-
3 RepliesPersonally Rangfinder/ opening shot sounds like a dream to me.
-
Paracausal Charges only stack to 7x anyway. It's impossible to get more. Any ammo perk would be useless.
-
2 RepliesThat was a long -blam!-ing post to say "Add Muligan to hawkmoon random rolls"
-
1 ReplyThanks for that, I now know that every hawkmoon I get will probably drop with hip fire grip such is my rng 😭

1 ReplyEdited by mac626: 12/10/2020 12:57:46 PMDo you honestly think bungo just did the ole bait and switch with this Those little sh..ts in pvp won’t let this go in peace Just wait till next week when everyone has this. THE NERF PARADE WILL BEGIN. The knee pads will be out bungo pants down “ how much of a nerf do you want”
-
How about triple tap or 4th times the charm?
-
Rampage? Lol

Honestly I’d rather have head seeker. Gives the option of 2 crit 1 head that is situational and not overly forgiving. Either ur first shot is a body or the damage between is a body. I’d rather see that added to the loot pool of every 140. If ur not gonna give us the two crit 1 body, at least give us this. Like magnificent howl but nerfed and still having damage drop off.

5 RepliesI'd be happy just to get quickdraw on mine. When we even find out how you get further drops.
