The only character that we know he could be straight is cayde and he isn’t even sure that he had a son
Also how comes that almost every main character is either gay bi or lesbian?
Yes I’m waiting for your comments about how homophobic I’m :/
Edit : this post has more content than the dlc and it’s for free please enjoy reading the comments
Edit 2 : man I’m still wondering how me asking for more or some straight characters is homophobic but okay i guess....

The character could be a trans-octopus for all I care as long as it's a good character story etc... It's when they just make a character gay for no reason other than to push a narrative that I don't care for, especially when they exceed that 2% of characters being gay as that is the percentage of non-straight in the real world. It shouldn't matter what sexuality a character is if it's written well, but this is the age of being "woke" so....

1 ReplyHonestly kind of ruined Osiris, so he was a legendary warlock that manipulated time and looked into alternate futures. He risks the fate of our reality and timeline to save Saint-14. Big risk within its own merits for just one dead guardian. Now we find out it was so he could have his love life back? Seems weak. Sure he's gay now whatever, I just don't see why it has to be this big revelation, someone is straight we shrug. A character is revealed as gay and the lgbt community throw a party. Like it was some massive victory on the trails of conquest. We don't care as long as it isn't blatant pandering like this. It also gives me the oogies thinking about how they called each other brother in the past, I don't know about the rest of the planet but I don't call my GF sister.

Everybody has to pander make every character gay even existing ones when there was no evidence or even hints they were before! I hate current gaming in today's world.
-
But how else can they pander in the most meaningless ways? How else will they virtue signal and show how enlightened they are besides making every single 1 dimensional character gay?
-
They're taking the Netflix approach to story telling.

5 RepliesFor how small a percentage of the population these people are, they sure do get a ton of pandering. It's almost like an agenda is being pushed here...

1 ReplyEdited by Kouz_MC: 12/1/2020 9:12:29 AMBeing heterosexual is the new death sentence at Bungie. My lesbian friend I play with told me that it’s a Seattle thing. Anyway, after the pathetic happy epilogue to the shakespearien tragedy of the two sisters, I guess Bungie was short of ideas and thought: hey why not make these last two gays as well. More seriously market researches must show to Bungie that Destiny is a hit for the LGBT segment, so they try to attract more with “content.”

The better question is how is announcing the sexuality if any character at all relevant to the game? No one cares about someone being LGBLT anyways. It doesn't make them special, it just makes them messed up in the head.

Yes. I agree with this post.

15 RepliesThe issue is that it doesn't need to exist Woo osiris is gay. Why did they feel it necessary to include that? It doesn't advance the story, it doesn't give further characterization. It just is because it is. If they were to make it a point and actually, I don't know, make characters, I think we'd have different opinions

I'm going to give everyone some advice. If you have a problem with the this game, other games, Bungie, other developers, the industry as a whole and you want change? It's a two (2) step plan and both have to be done in order to get all of the industry "normalities" to end. First off, state your issue or issues in clear, consist, stoic language. You have got to stop with the emotional charged speeches. Not just the topics but you have to stop using emotional language in your posts. Bungie is a company first and do not understand any circumstance care about you, your situation, your family or anyone else's life unless it seems to be a social charged subject, such as; religion, politics, social issues, (i.e; gender, race, sexual preference and so on) and only care if it seems to open up the demographic to potential customers. This is about only one thing: money. So in the plainest of terms; make your case, state the details of the issue and wait patiently for a response. If a quick and consist response does arrive, move on to second step. Second, this is the most important part of this step towards constructive and position changes to not just our favorite game but for this industry as a whole. You have to have the will, the fortitude, to stop spending money and your valuable time on these companies by playing the games they're wasting both of the resources you give them. The will not, I repeat, will not stop this course of action if you (the gaming community as a whole) continue to support them no matter what they do. Bungie's staff and Bungie's investors want results in the form of your play time and your money. If they don't have either of those, over time, they won't have either until they make meaningful changes. If you do these two (2) things, you'll start to see change. Emotionally charged, ultimatum lined posts aren't going to change anything. Take your time and money somewhere else till they change. I hope this helps you all.

Bungie is only a name now, a shadow of its former self.

15 RepliesEdited by Erijian: 12/1/2020 4:18:01 AMJust to be honest, nothing about Osiris and Saint's story (be it lore cards or in-game) ever screamed they're in a relationship. The fact that someone had to come out and announce it means either it wasn't intended from the beginning or they failed to portray their story properly which is doubtful because Destiny's lore is VERY in-depth. Everything about their story screams war brothers; not a relationship.

1 ReplyEdited by othersidestory: 12/1/2020 1:41:12 PMJust wait until they confirm Savathun to be white, straight and conservative villain. It would't surprise me tbh

66 RepliesEdited by RavenAstralis: 12/1/2020 4:39:33 AMAs someone who is Bi here The representation is important. There is already enough cis in this game. Why should it bother you ? Is it going to change your life ? Is it going to change the way you play Destiny ? Also. Like it or not. It sounds homophobic and stupid In any type of media, video games . Representation matters. One last thing. Ninjas should close this topic. This is a mess. EDIT : nvm reading your comments you post there Stop denying you are homophobic. You are

Welcome to identity politics. Inserting "wow look at this!" for no reason other than Bungie saying "We'Re iNcLuSiVe"

Ummmmm omg this is so offensive. Please refrain from eating meat. Only vegetables.

Another one of those posts where people act like they honestly care who’s with who even though these are in the words of Holden McNeil, “They are talking about fictional characters; Fic-tion-al Cha-rac-ters. Am I getting through to you at all?” It doesn’t matter at all which is why I don’t see why people make a big deal about it. Personally I miss the days where the most personal relationships you encountered in games was the fact the princess was in another castle. Didn’t have to worry about people getting so deep in their feelings about things they have no control over.

1 ReplyI don't have a problem of characters being gay, bi, les, etc, if it actually has some worthwhile impact in the story. If it doesn't, then it just exists merely as a placebo. If Bungie wants to add it, then branch off of it be that in the lore or through actual gameplay; Eramis is a great example of this.

Edited by AppleSoda: 12/1/2020 5:26:01 PMThis is a really sensitive topic and I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I believe that the apparent lack of canonically straight characters when compared to those on the LGBTQ+ spectrum makes their identities feel somewhat forced. That doesn’t mean that I dislike any of the characters they’ve included and I really do appreciate how Bungie have introduced a thoroughly diverse cast. I think the subtlety and complexity of Saint and Osiris’s relationship was executed quite well in the lore pages they wrote. It’s just that having a few heterosexual (or otherwise privileged) characters helps make the story feel more grounded. Having a diverse cast isn’t just about throwing in as many minorities as possible, it’s about breathing life into them, and I think an important part of that for LGBTQ+ characters is illustrating how heterosexual characters accept or reject their identity, interact with these minorities, and where these minorities fit in this society—as these are fundamental parts of the LGBTQ+ experience. Of course, this isn’t a story about the LGBTQ+ experience, it’s a story about space and aliens and magic, but if they want to tackle subjects that impact minorities, it’s important to illustrate their relationships with the privileged. I really do appreciate the representation Bungie is providing minorities—it gives everyone a place to see themselves and identify with. I just think it’s important we don’t stray too far from reality, where, by definition, not everyone is a minority.

1 ReplyEdited by OnlyGeowgie: 12/1/2020 6:18:32 PMArent we the same bunch that used to call eachother "gay" or "f****t" and generally other horrible hateful comments in xbox party chats or youtube comment sections, or maybe you guys were the non-existent mature adolescents? Its crazy what social activism does to the mind. Dont hate, leave and let live, lets stop trying to drag race, religion or sexuality into everything.

Everyone likes to be represented, no problems there. My only concern is, how many ppl are in the LGBT community are blind to the fact that they are being used by pandering companies to sell a product overall. Also not to mention, none of these companies do anything for ppl of said community in other countries where it is still illegal to be gay.....this is the most clear sign of pandering there is. If they really cared about these issues, they would act on them, in which they don't.

Bungie wants to be like other people, or whatever. It's -blam!-ing stupid. And I'm not homophobic.

14 RepliesI'm still amazed that game designers and the broader entertainment industry feel it's necessary to state what sexuality a character is. Can we not have a good story that doesn't revolve around whether two characters want to bump ugly with each other. I don't care about sex in games or movies, it's irrelevant to story. People can be life long best friends without ever sleeping with each other or stating what their sexuality preference is. Bungie, please can you explain how a character's sexuality affects gameplay? Is it going to be a new mod in the future?
