The pointless grind has become unbearable

I am talking about stuff like the stasis subclass grind and the Variks sabotage quests (21 of them). First you gotta grind out the subclass itself on all 3 characters individually, then for each grenade theres lengthy quests, for each aspect, then for each of the SIX fragments theres a quest that literally takes longer individually than 2 exotic weapon quests combined. Its draining. No matter which path you choose, crucible, strikes, gambit, all of them are extremely lengthy in their own way, annoying, result in a toxic and selfish playstyle and just stretch the non existing content of this dlc. People were complaining about quests that dictate a certain playstyle, in iron banner and literally every other quest that demands certain specific weapon kills, super kills and last but not least charged ability kills. People were especially annoyed by ability kill requirements because they have a long cooldown, even with the right stats. This DLC felt like all you do is that. The most hated part of the game by the community, acknowledged by the devs in a twab a few months back and this is what we get. Ability kills on top of more ability kills. "Unexpectedly time consuming objectives sneak in from time to time, and we generally want objectives in upcoming Seasons to be a bit less restrictive in terms of how you play" -Bungie https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48993 I previously hated parts where i had to play with certain weapon types like fusions or bows. I never did those bounties. Now, those 2 steps on the fragment quests, getting fusion and bow kills, were the only steps i didn't mind doing that much. That goes to show you how terrible and forced these other requirements felt to me. This DLC, i played for about 50 hours so far, every single second of those 50 hours, i felt forced to change my whole playstyle, battle for ability kills in strikes and the crucible, felt annoyed when someone dodged my freeze cause i still had to do 40 more shatter kills on pvp opponents. I will say it again, it all felt like a chore, it felt like work. Today, i finished my last aspect "quest", leveled up Variks' wall of sabotage quests, maxed out crows lure upgrades and turned the game off instantly. After turning it off, i felt like i finished a week of work and the weekend is within reach. I am not even kidding on that one, it literally felt that way and i don't think thats a good thing Bungie.

  • It's like this because they don't have the power to create meaningful content. So they use all of this bullcrap as their "content". Just think, if all this nonsense was out of the game, what would beyond light be? The campaign is you using the same stasis subclass 4 different times. In Forsaken we unlocked it after one mission. The endgame stuff you do is also in the campaign. The campaign is 90 percent just filler activities, exactly like unlocking the grenades and stuff for stasis. It's things that shouldn't be in the game but are due to the fact that bungie can't create content or doesn't want to for whatever reason that might be. Being more creative cost more money. So instead of content, they make you unlock grenades and play a campaign thats almost all filler content. Why do you think their are only two places on Europa to land and each one is close to each other? You actually think a game developer is that unknowledgeable to know that we would like a place farther north to land? Naw man, it's on purpose to extend play time, to extend no purpose fillers. Did we have to test out stasis 4 times before we unlocked it? Just think about it.

  • I'm going to give everyone some advice. If you have a problem with the this game, other games, Bungie, other developers, the industry as a whole and you want change? It's a two (2) step plan and both have to be done in order to get all of the industry "normalities" to end. First off, state your issue or issues in clear, consist, stoic language. You have got to stop with the emotional charged speeches. Not just the topics but you have to stop using emotional language in your posts. Bungie is a company first and do not understand any circumstance care about you, your situation, your family or anyone else's life unless it seems to be a social charged subject, such as; religion, politics, social issues, (i.e; gender, race, sexual preference and so on) and only care if it seems to open up the demographic to potential customers. This is about only one thing: money. So in the plainest of terms; make your case, state the details of the issue and wait patiently for a response. If a quick and consist response does arrive, move on to second step. Second, this is the most important part of this step towards constructive and position changes to not just our favorite game but for this industry as a whole. You have to have the will, the fortitude, to stop spending money and your valuable time on these companies by playing the games they're wasting both of the resources you give them. The will not, I repeat, will not stop this course of action if you (the gaming community as a whole) continue to support them no matter what they do. Bungie's staff and Bungie's investors want results in the form of your play time and your money. If they don't have either of those, over time, they won't have either until they make meaningful changes. If you do these two (2) things, you'll start to see change. Emotionally charged, ultimatum lined posts aren't going to change anything. Take your time and money somewhere else till they change. I hope this helps you all.

Idk how ppl are so high on the season pass level. Like 200+ Sounds like torture And tbh if you think about it... They way they set up the fragments and aspects is just artificially creating content. The statis classes only come with jumps and standard grenades/melee abilities. The other subclasses have more to them and dont require any quests or grinding. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

It's interesting how a lot of the community asked for fewer bounties/quest and that somehow translated in Bungie's mind, oh, they want a lot more 🤦‍♂️ What part of creating content that is replayable content does this company not understand? Bounties are not replayable content, they way overdone it that just added unnecessary grind. I mean when it comes to this game's leveling system, etc... they went the complete opposite of what a leveling system is that it's like they gave up on the entire game just to get by until that mobile game is released. I think it's really messed up that they have most of their company working on that new IP and put this game on the back burner. I remember players trying to use the excuse that they are "just trying new things out". Um, it takes 6 long years to keep trying things out as if the entire player base is a bata tester that they don't know their own game by now, and still don't have a foundation that they still have to constantly change most things about the game every few months to know what game this is? Destiny doesn't have an identity that they are just throwing whatever they want in the game to see if it works. That doesn't work for a game like this and it has made most of this game a huge mess.
The lack of consistency No replayable content Only one destination relevant Power means nothing in this game Stats have become pointless Rest everyone every 3 months as if progress means nothing at all Still keeping our Guardians weak that they can't take damage worth a damn Added a lot more quest that are basically bounties as if this game "needed" a lot more of that Barely updated anything in this entire game No new crucible maps No new Gambit maps One new strike Had to add old loot back to the game because of the lack of loot in the game The game is bloated with unnecessary materials/consumables
I mean the list is freaking huge of how much of a mess this game is that I can add a hell of a lot more and they are trying to pass it off as if "it's in a good place". No, it's a freaking mess that some people need to be removed from this company when it comes to making decisions, and put the people that actually cared about creating a decent game back on this project. (Removing Barrett was a huge mistake.) Now I'm not saying he is the best or anything like that, but at least he wasn't totally out of touch with the entire player base as the ones running things now.

          • Bungie has confirmed that this is their content model going forward, and I just read an interview over on Metro where Pete Parsons got lobbed a bunch of softball questions and basically talked about how the game was all roses and sunshine and the community loves what they are doing right now. The developers are so out of touch with what the community tells them, kind of like with the sunsetting reversal. To bad no one told them it was a bad idea in the first place...lol.

            • I think alot of the game is overshadowed by bad decisions. They don't think about making players happy, they only think of stretching content out past the breaking point. You can tell when playing activities everyone is burnout on power leveling and grinding bounties. People that keep using Covid as an excuse is insane. Most of the content was started more than a year ago. It takes them a long time to create new planets, subclasses, etc. Think about it... most games takes about 3+ years to develop. In the long run the Covid changes to the studio are for the better. Developers should be able to work from home. You get more work done that way. I'm sure it was harder to merge all the changes in but they had an extra month. I know this is only my opinion, but I think a lot of little tweaks would make the game more fun and less frustrating.

            • It is pointless like really. They figured out how to make everything a grind even for what would have been normal world drops...and call it content. And of course why not just add doing the same content more only this time with having to equip a champion mod or barrier mod or you know solo a lost sector. Lazy stupid development masquerading as content

              • Destiny 2 is Bungie's cash-cow to help fund Matter, nothing more. They obviously lost interest in it a while back and jumped head first into the Free2Play mobile game mentality to squeeze every possible bit of money out of players. Especially those who refuse to play anything else because of rose tinted glasses and think Destiny is the best thing since sliced bread (looking at you Bungie Defence Force). The fact they charge for expansions at all with this rotation of content, basically making purchases void after a short time is beyond me. They must have great lawyers to word that in the new Terms Of Service we have to agree to for Beyond Light. But that's another argument for another day. 'Minimum effort, maximum profit'. This is Bungie's mentality with Destiny 2.

                • Agreed. I hate having to “unlock” the same thing on multiple characters. Just like the dreaming city. I can understand unlocking it once. And if some people want to do that stuff multiple times (campaign) give us the option. But don’t force me to do the same grind 3 times to falsely inflate my playtime.

                • This is not how the game is supposed to be played. It seems like you are in a loop of FOMO and doing mindless grind to get something you don't want to miss out. Fair enough, if you have all the time to do it. Reading your post, I believe you have the time and skills but u are frustrated with repetitive actions. If you can't enjoy this game then don't play it. I just play it for different reasons and enjoyment of game content itself is not one. If you must know, I play it to have a laugh with my kids... nothing more and nothing less. Rest of the game is irrelevant to me. I rather watch Netflix! Anyways, this game is no longer fun if you play it as a MMO looter shooter game so don't complain about it like it is one. Every game of same genere has similar issues so take it or leave it. Also, if I read your post with different levels of listening skills (1 being lowest and 10 being highest), I hear your problems in the way you want to play this game... which is not an issue with the game. I am being generous as Bungie listening skills for average Joe who is not a streamer is like -5 on the scale I used. I am not being salty or insulting but knowing what we know about Bungie now I am 200% sure your way of raising the issues is not going to work.

                • This is the main reason I haven’t played on my other characters yet. The subclass aspect quests should be account wide. I’m don’t mind having to play the main campaign again to initially obtain the subclass but the fact that I have to re-grind everything has significantly cut down on the fun factor of just playing how I want to.

My issue with the stasis classes is that you shouldn't have to grind for all three, it should be account wide. I noticed on doing the quest on the Titan isn't that bad, I just pick the Vanguard grinds and do nightfalls and I usually complete them pretty fast, however I know other classes struggle with getting some of the requirements like Melee final blows and it can take a long time.

                  • Once upon a time, there was this guy who said - "Halo is his Mario!" Then this guy discovered World of Warcraft. He had a moment, kinda like a defining moment for him. Fast forward many years later, this guy is now making videogames. Now that this guy is in charge of developing a videogame. Guess what he's trying to do to that videogame?. . . This is the same guy that also said later on to - "Throw your effing money at the screen!" Now, I've heard this guy had a moment in WoW, all the while his character is levelling up while he is sleeping. He was sleeping and other people are grinding and playing his character! LMFAO! And then this gave him his defining moment?. . . See what you're dealing here?. . . Now, this guy is in charge of making a videogame. Guess what he's trying to do to give you that defining moment?. . . Why do you think this game is going this way?. . . Bungie Logic!

                    • I have only done the campaign on my warlock and Titan. My hunter is grinding through all the quests and my lord there are a lot. I seriously cannot be bothered to play my warlock and Titan as those born in darkness quests alone put me off it. And now I hear that I have to grind individually for the other subclass stuff?! What a joke.
