Anybody else notice the male voice is now the unmodified male exo’s? Also the female’s is the human. Like across all the races they are now the same? What’s up with that?

Yeah its -blam!-ing stupid. I'd rather they make the Guardian mute again.
-
I rock no helmet and pretty much everyone who orbit inspects me dies laughing saying i have no face. This is great.

Edited by SirHeadPoppington: 11/27/2020 12:36:57 AMUnpopular opinion but they made the guardian silent for so long that it's just weird when they do speak now.

2 RepliesI'm one of those people who really didn't like the new voice. Combined with face changes, my character now doesn't look like the one I've made and doesn't sound like one. It's super jarring. It may look insignificant to some - like yeah, just a few lines here and there, whatever. But I used to look forward to moments when my guradian spoke and now I'd rather he stay silent. The thing I don't understand the most though is why didn't Bungie mention this anywhere like they've mentioned temporary changes to VA's from other language versions of the game in their patchnotes. People have asked about this issue here as well as on reddit and twitter and still no clear answer. The VA's themselves, at least two of them (male human and male awoken) didn't know anything about the change, so it's even more unclear what's going on. There's also a new VA for female exos now (Zehra Fazal) - and she describes her role as female exo on twitter, so... there's still supposed to be differentiation by race? But them why does everyone sound the same?

1 ReplyBungie too cheap to pay 6 voice actors... 2’s enough 😅
-
Yes and I hate it
-
Male sounds like Master Chief now.
-
It's just Masterchief. It sounds terrible here, better that they had gone for a more everyman neutral tone of voice.
-
All my female awokens sound like normies now reeee

I decided to try out the New Light quest for fun (vanilla D1 player). Every time our guardian apparently speaks during the campaign, it is silent. It's really awkward. For example, the Guardian apparently said some badass line, and Shaw Han was like, "Heck ya!" What did we even say? The Guardian moved his mouth, but no sound came out.

5 RepliesEdited by Nyx: 11/25/2020 1:28:19 PMMatt Mercer and Grey DeLisle were both probably dummy expensive. They can likely afford to have our guardians speak more if they’re only paying two voice actors.

1 ReplyI play the Brazilian Portuguese version, and I also noticed changes on the voice character, I play as a male exo too, in my language they changed a lot of main character voices, such as the Stranger and Eris, Bungie said that happened due to COVID-19 issues, but in the case of the guardian voice, it is different since Shadow keep, so I don't know if there's a plan to come again with the OG ones, that were not mentioned...

1 ReplyI know it’s all the same, but I actually like my hunters voice now. Sounds more intimidating. Less Troy Baker, lol.

Edited by Warpath73: 11/25/2020 1:56:24 PMIf this is what it takes for the story to stop being a jarring joke due to its main character being an absurd meme of a mime/ventriloquist, then I welcome it wholeheartedly. I do miss Fillion/Remar/Aghdashloo etc quite a bit and if Lance gets replaced I may finally mutiny...but thank the g.d. Pyramid ships that we can finally talk again!!!

Not really that big of a issue compared to everything else.

1 ReplyTough to get big time actors for small time gigs, especially during times like these. That, plus trying to get all those actors together to record at specific times, can be a challenge - again, especially during times like these. They should go with people who don’t cost an arm and a leg to voice characters- especially characters who only end up having 8-10 words of dialogue. It’s like hiring Da Vinci to paint your house, but all you can afford is one window trim. I don’t think that’s the best example but it’s all I could think of.
-
Bungie won't comment on this. Check the IMDB. Its not a glitch but intentional
-
Not to mention how many different languages they needed. It went from 6 voice actors per language down to 2 Sucks somewhat, but makes sense in the grand scheme of things
-
Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
They didn’t want to pay multiple voice actors ,so they just used exo male and human female -
3 RepliesI thought the same thing. I didn't pay much attention to it but seeing someone else comment on it, I know I'm not imagining it. This is bad news for Bungie. Minor but still bad
-
I think I prefer them mute. No accents that way
-
Mine still sounds like masterchief
-
Honestly always preferred my exo's voice so I'm cool with it
-
3 Repliesas a person who reeeeaaally didn’t like the voice that the female awoken had before, i welcome this change. my girl sounds much better now 🙂

Probably less money. Guardians have lines now, so they hired tow people to read the lines and modulate their voices to save themselves a few bucks.
