Edited by Yosemite Sam: 11/23/2020 12:57:53 AMI'm reading over some of the replies and it might be better for people to know the truth. Edit: 1. Luke was not the lead of VoG, Gavin was. Look it up. Here I'll even be generous on this one. https://www.linkedin.com/authwall?trk=gf&trkInfo=AQENWSuEmcz1JwAAAXXylE4YESWoHREnmJ60v70m7CAQpHYk84Pnh2bxkooAcmjk-aHeshpaWz1etP_E6sNoFCN1 2. Luke was pulled from The Taken King to go work on D2 at the beginning of production. Again, go look it up. Just to add, the concept art was created for TtK before Luke worked on it. 3. People making assumptions about what happened with D1, most of it is just hearsay, no one knows what actually happened behind them closed doors, only bits of info leaked. So overall it's best to know there are 3 sides to a story. Who is telling it Who is being accused and then there is the truth to what actually happened which none of us will ever know.

After finishing the skill set training climb on Europa I received a lecture that sounded familiar. Something about how his kids played games, and then some disparaging remarks about players learning their lesson and how hard content was. Strangely familiar.

5 RepliesWhat Destiny would be today if Staten and company were still around and had more control...
-
4 RepliesDon't care what he has or hasn't done career wise. His "you'll throw money at the screen" comment told me everything I needed to know about that guy.
-
I feel that they are trying to make it like wow which kinda boggles the shit out of me.
-
1 ReplyHow the -blam!- does that work? Because he wrote about games means he should direct them? This explains a lot.
-
6 RepliesI miss barret. He saved d2. He needs to do it again.
-
Luke Smith isn’t worth the space he occupies. But you guys keep buying what he stole from D1. Eventually, it’ll sink in
-
D1>D2. Luke Smith has taken D2 backwards however there is some nifty features D2 has that D1 didn’t.
-
1 ReplyJason Jones was the one who decided to scrap D1's original story and replace it with mess we got. The guy who wrote the original story wrote all of Halo's stories btw. I don't like how Luke Smith wants Destiny to be like WoW but stop the blind hate. Luke Smith was also literally the director for TTK.
-
9 RepliesSay what you want about the two but Destiny 1 was far from the immaculate image we remember it being when it was in Year 1 D1 was a blast but it was far from perfect
-
5 RepliesI really don't know what to think of Jason anymore. You'd think he'd have tried to hold onto Staten and Marty before D1 got scrapped since they were all at the top. Regardless, screw Luke. Far over one raid and one expansion. He still sees us as sheep that'll throw money at the screen
-
4 RepliesI think Luke is doing a fantastic job actually. Not too many perfect games are made nowadays. But D2 has been holding my attention since it came out, and it is forever changing. Bungie tries new ideas and if they work they continue. If they don’t work, they change those ideas if we yell loud enough. Name any company that remains static for years and still carries profit. Gotta give credit where credit is due.
-
Both are good in their respective strengths And both have flaws. No game designer, or person in general, is perfect
-
2 RepliesI think Luke has done a commendable job! Having played destiny since the D1 beta my opinion matters. Great job Luke, keep up the good work!!!
-
Lmao D1 was almost a bust until something Luke Smith led design on came out. VoG. Then he was the game director for Taken King and a vast majority of D2. I don’t really care what your position on the state of the current game is, Luke Smith is probably the reason half of you are nostalgia blind, and you don’t even know it.
-
This topic is disgusting. Humanity at an all time low.
-
These aren’t the droids we’re looking for. Move along. Move along..
-
8 RepliesYeah but Jason Jones is the reason D1 was so bad at launch. Scrapped the story made by the guy that wrote every halo fire "being too linear". He scrapped so close to launch they had to ask Activision for a year delay. And even with that they still couldn't make something with substance. So I'll take Luke Smith over Jason Jones

It's kewl getting 1410 PHILOMATH armor that is the same armor we got everywhere even in the raid if I remember correctly. It's an expansion but feels like a season to me. Light thin content that won't last. Only a few 1410 weapons all of which seem like a major grind to earn a decent roll. It really feels like they lost the person with the original concept for the game. If feels like there isn't that someone to put the game together and drive a direction for the teams. Everything seels like longer and longer chains of bounties / checklists.

4 RepliesSo how on earth did Luke Smith become Game Director of Bungie?, where are the qualifications for game creation and management?
-
Really sad.
-
Who’s Jason Jones? Oh wait...
I remember from Friday’s post right it got taken down by ninjas 😂 I thank that one dude for showing the truth.
-
43 RepliesLike Smith was the director on TTK. Time for a reality check.
