You could add this back or give us the next two expansions for free since we paid $80+ for a game that only lasted three years.

Because Bungie made the game free-to-play, then stripped away the free-to-play content so that free-to-players have literally nothing to do and either quit or pony up for an expansion out of boredom. Tl;dr Bungie made the game free-to-play but doesn't actually want people to play-for-free.

They should just make certain ad-ons optional like Halo MCC. It's not exactly the same, but it's Bungie's fault for being unable to manage a large game...
