How friendly and helpful is destiny community for real?
Hello guardians, now none of you likely know me so you probably won't pay this no mind. I've been in probably 6 clans since destiny dropped. I know a ton of you use lfg everyday...so those who feel like me you know what I'm saying. Gotta have this or that K/D, this or that weapon or pay to get any help...since when we as gamers thought that extorting another player to get help would be considered right? I've been gaming since i was 5 with my atari and nintendo. I dreamt of the day when i could play any game with my friends, regardless of if I was home or online once the net became a thing. Yet it seems with every game that comes out. The gaming companies emphasize competition. Than people in the real world wonder why everything always going ape poop crazy! I grew up an only child until 12 when my dad remarried and i had my 3 siblings from my step-mom and dad. I moved around a lot because my father was in the navy. Hell after 9/11 happened literally that year i joined the army...so as you may guess i don't have many friends. I have TBI and PTSD. I love this game. Destiny's story has had me tear up on a few occasions its amazing...just one problem. In my experience this is one of the most toxic communities I've ever been a part of! It's a video game not boot camp. Your regular players for the most part. Not getting paid like some lucky chumps. Get over your egos and learn what it means to not only be a community. But what it means when they teamwork makes a the dream work! Stop acting like pompous schmucks. I laugh bungie that you really try to promote this as a friendly community. Have you seen people's responses to others? To people like me that society could give 2 craps about? Might want to research your actual community before stating on your site that this is a friendly community!

1 ReplyYou're not looking at the big picture. There are manners expected in LFG from both rookies and veterans alike. Don't walk into someone else's group and get upset when they don't behave exactly how you want them to. Instead, be proactive. Make your own group. Visit small-name streamers and ask their communities for help. That is how you find people willing to help you.

1 ReplyPerhaps you aren't looking for the genuinely good people who actually DO help and ARE FRIENDLY. I too have a military history but this is not the place to impose pain and trauma. You have no right projecting anger and hatred on the entire community. This community IS NOT ABOUT YOU and my comment to you is not bullying you. It is for you to examine your words and the MANY here that want to assist others. Look at yourself soldier. Wise up.

1 ReplyIt's gaming in 2020, nobody gives to F's about co-op or positivity anymore - what do you expect? :) Destiny is a loot shooter where everyone just want to have the freshest gear or highest KD - if you have to join a "team" for that, just do it. Always keep in mind that leaving you dead behind in a strike or "co-op" is quite normal, especially as a noob (below 1000 hrs playtime). That's why I'm playing solo all the time, that "clan" concept only works fine for hardcore players or PvP pros. If you want to have company buy yourself a pet (but don't shoot it).

I find a lot of nice players out there when I'm using lfg. I may have a better game plan when trying to find team mates though. I've beaten all of the destiny raids for the first time with lfg teams. I'm also helping people too, so that can make people nice to me too.

Just like most places there are good and bad in the Destiny community. Bungie focuses on what paints a positive picture, because that’s what serves their interest best. It sounds like you’ve ran into some of the bad. If it’s on the forum then mute them, you wouldn’t be interested in their antagonistic and argumentative BS in real life so just mute them on here. If it’s in game, check the clans forum regularly and you might find one that fits (I haven’t, lol). -

2 RepliesFirst of all, and I mean this earnestly, try using paragraphs. It makes writing so much easier to read than just a block of text. Secondly, I’ve met some amazing people on this game, but the games simplicity allows.... less than ideal people... to be able to thrive here. There’s a reason warframe wins the golden joystick award for best community and has continued to do so for years. The Destiny the community is actually pretty awful in my experience. I mean, if you can even find a clan that hasn’t already disbanded.

As for whether or not this community is friendly, it can be quite volatile, depending on the time of day and subject matter. My advice is that if you meet a few assholes, just ignore them and don't take anything too seriously. Edit: Could you please use a few paragraphs? I your post made me feel like I was running out of breath.

Funnily enough, it was only the other night, a random gamer offered another random gamer the funds for new expansion who couldn't afford it due to furlough. Feedback is always going to be hot due to it being feedback.. As a whole though, in game or on this forum, the vast majority are a good bunch.
