“People won’t let me be part of my exclusive circle jerk and keep showing the content I enjoyed to other people who I don’t want to enjoy it because they weren’t there :(((((“ This is the internet; things do not go away. It was a highly pretentious and stupid idea to make a channel for one year and then remove it with the assumption that someone wasn’t going to archive them. People who are crying about them being reuploaded are hilariously sad, let people enjoy the content they want when they want. Also to top it off, I’ve heard that these guys sold merchandise of Unnus Annus? That completely defeats the -blam!-ing point of it being all gone after 1 year. The fanbase of this channel is comical.

  • Even though it's been a few days, it just hit me earlier today. I'm really going to miss this channel. Memento mori

Ok I know this is a double reply... but wow this is reminding of the salt mines. FOMO, Elitism, gate keeping, “it’s always there...” Jeez. *begins to speak like CCWH John Green*

I think it’s important to remember the context of both sides. I didn’t watch UA but I do get the appeal and central message of it. That said, I also understand the argument that UA was found under, ahem, dumb ideas and application of logic. To the fan, UA was a reminder that nothing in life is permanent. That you should make the most in this short thing we call life. That was the core message of the channel. To the person who missed out, you could view it as some “gate-kept” content with a theme that was ironic that it was founded on a place where nothing goes away. With that said, I want to say this. Is the fact that the FOMO worked on you proof that the channel’s central message succeed? Is it ironic that more than the memory remains of the channel? Or more importantly, was it worth my time for me for me to speak like I’m on the soap box speaking to the masses?

• I first heard of Unus Annus from the "we have one week left" announcement. I was originally thinking that it was a "we upload for a year and then stop" sort of thing, so I went to the beginning. Then I got hit with the "we're deleting the channel after one year", and decided not to waste my time trying to catch up. I didn't show for the final live stream because I was at work, and even if I wasn't, I had 0 attachment to the channel. Everyone is justifying it with the "finality of things" argument, but that doesn't make sense to me. "What if you only had 1 year?" Well, what I do in that one year has a lasting effect. Everything someone does while they're alive doesn't snap out of existence when they die. They leave a legacy. If they didn't, I wouldn't be able to watch the work of say, YOTESLAYA, who passed away 7 years ago. His stuff is still out there. I can still watch it. Unus Annus is different from death. Death is the end. Nothing more comes after in life. Unus Annus is erasure. As if it never happened. That being said, they are well within their rights to do with their work what they will. It's their decision, and I have no skin in this argument. I just think Unus Annus was designed to grab the people who fall victim to the fear of missing out.

        • It was a fantastic channel. Took me a few months to start watching it (started Feb) but everything was pure -blam!-in gold. Last two weeks oops all bangers? Nah, oops all bangers the whole way through.

        • They made the videos so that they could be cherished until the clock ran out. There goal to me was to create an emotion after all of those loved videos were gone forever. Saying that things on the internet will last forever doesn’t mean they should. They set out to delete them from the start and people don’t want to let go of them. Sucks.

As a fellow Unus Annus fan, I must make this known. It appears that someone has made a new Unus Annus channel on YouTube not long after the og was deleted. The new channel has already reuploaded 2 Unus Annus videos. I made a post on r/Markiplier to try and hopefully get Mark and Ethan aware if they weren’t already ( Reddit Post ). I don’t want their wishes for the channel to be disregarded. Edit: For everyone trying to justify the reuploading of videos

People should know by now that once you upload something to the internet... there's a chance that it will last forever.
