So apparently a writer in Bungie confirmed they're gay on twitter
Cool
Again a lot of people believed I genuinely disliked the idea of them being gay, which has never been the case
So? It's canon, it's official. I can't change that even if I wanted to
They are gay, in love. The Pidgeon and the Pheonix in one big nest
however if you have to clarify this to your community through a tweet, then you probably didn't do an amazing job in the first place
9 RepliesAs ambiguous as Bungie intentionally makes this situation, or even as many times as they hint at characters possibly having a romantic attraction with someone of the same sex or both...(like Ana buying a gift during the Valentine's day event and hoping "she" will like it... Or Shaxx offering his hand in marriage to ANY guardian who wins a bow during a crucible tournament, in that same event. I want to add that regardless of how silly that situation was, we know he was serious, which is why it's so great.) Bungie does this with some characters so 1, they can be progressive AF without pissing off Twitter or certain "game journalists". The ones who really don't care about how many are represented, or the ratio of that representation. Then 2, so as many people as possible can see themselves in their guardian(s) as well as other characters in game without leaving out anyone. Things can be either/or with those characters. I mean since last season Ikora has shown more care for Zavala then usual. As she used to direct concern to everyone without singling people out, which could be interpreted as romantic attraction. Then there's Drifter and Moondust (Eris). Yes there's speculation that they are also a couple, or that there's some attraction between them, since they have that playful banter with each other. This season Osiris leaves recordings in Zavala's office, further showing how much he cares for Saint, which could also be interpreted as physical attraction. (Technically wouldn't that possibly make Osiris pansexual and not gay?? Saint is an exo after all for "inclusivity's sake".... Or could that be ambiguous too? 🤷♂️) The fact that he's always bringing him and his emotions for him up, is another reason to allude to this. But at the same time those exact same reasons could also be taken as a bond between best friends, 2 people that like to poke fun at each other, or even a brotherly bond. Love doesn't have to be intimate, as we all have varying degrees of love for people we are close to. Interpretation is the same way in this situation. I might see one thing a certain way and someone else sees it another. Bungie most likely won't establish any kind of preference with those characters just for this reason. I mean does this video game really have to have romantic relationships and preferences between all main NPC characters if the option isn't available for the player? Except for Drifter and Eris....They are a couple and it's cannon even if Bungie says otherwise only because it's hilarious... Undercover lovers
