The Dark Future (spoilers)

% So after taking a read through most of the pages of this lorebook, i have to say this is probably darker than I had even imagined: -Drifter is dead -The Traveler left -Ikora was tortured/killed by Savathun -Zavala was tortured/tramatized by Savathun -Mara and the awoken, Cabal, and Fallen are all holding up in the Leviathan -A chance we might end up having to read about how/why Elsie had to kill Ana -ERIS MORN is apparently even worse than SAVATHUN. Wow. That would be a story to live through. Savathun is basically a pawn compared to her. And Mara and Eris have beef, compared to this timeline, where it seems like Eris worships Mara. -Rasputin is in his exo frame -They captured the Traveler by building the tech that Ghaul used on it the first time and are trying to force it to fight for them again. -The Last City has been destroyed - There are actual "dark guardians" flying around, most of which under Eris Morn. -Calus after all this time is still missing I havent unlocked the last two pages, but so far this whole future seems to be the worst case scenario for us. Whats even more scary is that its not too far off from our history either. Oryx is still dead. The Red War still happened. The events of Forsaken AND Shadowkeep still happened. Even the events of Season of the Worthy/Arrivals still happened, as it talks about the Almighty still being crashed on Earth, and Ana having to scrap what little of Rasputin she could after the Pyramids shut him down. And apparently Eris was corrupted the moment she touched that monolith on the Moon and communed with that artifact we gave her. All of this could still happen, with the exception that our Guardian doesnt turn evil and we turn the tides. Good storytelling Bungie. Edit: Added more events in case i missed any %

You can read the full entries on Ishtar Collective already. Honestly wouldn't be surprised with Eris going full evil, right now she's still being tempted to the darkness and has been for awhile. I see her as our opposite, where the Traveler has made our guardian its Chosen, it's almost like the Darkness has been grooming Eris to be its main messenger given how much it's been pushing her to recruit others and just had that bad vibe about her since Dark Below. She's just had too many occasions where she used the darkness to escape, and her ability to enter the hive realms just gave me bad vibes about her. So obsessed with darkness artifacts that she doesn't realize she's falling to them. Funny how it winds up "too cautious" Zavalla is actually correct. What I was more interested in is that it appeared Elsie/Exo Stranger was stuck in some sort of time loop...which kind of makes me think this is just some big game the Vex are playing with us.

  • Currently reading this, on chapter 4 and if this is the future of destiny then I cannot wait for this to transpire. It would bring back the dark feel of the game and actually be worth playing through.

The story of the game would actually be far more interesting if all of those things transpired, because as of now everything is kinda predictable. Or even just some kind of apocalyptic scenario where most of the characters are dead would be great in order to make the final events of the game seem serious.

  • the most depressing about this is that it basically reveals that in the end if the worst comes, the traveler would just abandon us. just like it abandoned all the other civilizations. makes me wonder if the traveler actually cares about us, or if it’s just using us to try and protect itself from its lifelong enemy. maybe we really are all pawns in a war between two godlike beings

    • This is yet another future we have averted. What’s interesting is the bombardment doesn’t involve the pyramids whatsoever. And that Savathun is influential in the dark future once more. Perhaps her death is the true key to preventing another final collapse.

    • I think its in an alt timeline bc it mentions the Heart of the Black Garden creating Dark Guardians, which can't happen in ours since uhhh, y'know, WE SHUT IT DOWN. Not only that, but look at Eris' letter to Savathun regarding Stasis. I don't think anyone goes from that to working with someone
