I am not arging about sunsetting weapons and armour here although I hate this decision this does not affect our rights as consumers. I have bought every destiny game and DLC up til beyond light. Even bought some silver and the season passes. I had taken a break before beyond light an planned to possibly come back along with ps5 but the delay to December put my plans back. However I booted up the game today on pc and was horrified to find not only have Bungie removed content I have paid for they have replaced it with content behind a paywall. The vendors on the planets and other parts of the game are all locked behind the new dlc paywall. All I can do is bounties. This is against the new EU digital content directive IMO.

5. Modifying service games in contradiction to earlier public communication and advertisements
&
6. Modifying service games in general
- where the modification negatively impacts the consumer's access to or use of the digital content or digital service, the consumer is informed reasonably in advance on a durable medium (e.g. email) of the features and time of the modification and of the right to terminate the contract, or (if applicable) of the possibility to maintain the digital content or digital service without the modification.
I strongly believe Bungie has removed content I have paid for with no access to this now and not only this they still sell this content in stores physical and digital. I believe everybody should be entitled to a full refund due to content being removed in the EU thanks to this law.
I am annoyed they keep recycling content by using sunsetting sure but this was a step too far for me and I will not be buying any more DLC going forward you have lost a long time fan Bungie with this move as even if I buy beyond light in a years time I will most likely lose access to that content too.

Is established me how bungie is still in business despite being bought from Sony
-
3 RepliesEhhhhh.. that's not how that works kiddo. At least you tried though.
-
1 ReplyUnfortunately thanks to bungies scummy ToS you don't buy the game you buy access to the game.
-
10 Replieslet's say you buy a burger and then you eat it Do you ask for a refund? no, because you ate it and they were removing it because no one was playing them so
-
2 RepliesYou didn’t pay for anything in the game. You paid for right to play their game as they see fit to present it. We all accepted the terms of service. Just read it, bro

5 RepliesI can’t speak for Europe but that law would be struck down as unconstitutional here in the US. Classic case of legislative overreach. As outlined, that law is a sweeping violation of intellectual property rights. It would basically make any type of persistent world/evolving-experience game impossible, and would expose game developers to a flood of specious law suits. Because it basically says that it’s the developers fault if the player is unhappy with any aspect of the game. Even if that player didn’t bother to learn about what he was buying. Which is absurdly paternalistic. Imagine buying music, and then suing the artist or record company because they release a re-mix of the song that you don’t like. But you spent your money on without bothering to listen to it first.
-
2 RepliesAnd with that you just summoned all hobby lawyers explaining how it was illegal and makes them able to get sued.

4 RepliesI want a refund on the car I bought 3 years ago...

4 RepliesIt’s super unlucky but I bought every dlc and season pass for destiny 2. And took some breaks in between. I have paid for curse of Osiris and warmind, and never fully completed either and now it’s gone :/

1 ReplyYeah, like Bungie would've followed through with that. But yeah. Then, Bungie did have a click this contract at the start screen, probably to force a hidden waver of above posted?
-
5 RepliesGame industry lacks regulations and thays why its FUBAR. Bungie will recycle content and you will lose argument. Also, remember one important thing. 5+ years in the franchise and we are back parroting same scenery as we did at D1 launch. Think about it, if Bungie can pull this off after so much money throwing at the screen, they have already got you in the pocket.

2 RepliesBetween sunsetting and vaulting, I am ok with vaulting as long as there is a logical and solid story reason to vault old content. If they just start randomly removing stuff with the excuse of "it's just too old now," that's when I'll start to have a problem with vaulting. I will never be happy about sunsetting. I'm glad that I won't see pinnacles anymore, but I'm not happy that I can no longer use the majority of the weapons in this game, even in patrol. I loved running strikes, daily heroics, and patrol with random loadouts of super fun guns like the Black Armory Atlanta-D, Origin Story, Call to Serve, Frigid Jackal, 18 Kelvins, Battle Scar, Nameless Midnight, Stryker's Sure Hand, Last Man Standing, and so very many more. I really hate that my loadout is now restricted to roughly 4 non-exotic guns in each slot that are actually useful.

1 ReplyHowever, the Digital Content Directive sets out additional requirements that must be met in case a game is modified beyond what is necessary to maintain the digital content or digital service in conformity. Under the Directive, general modifications are only allowed if all of the following requirements are met: - the contract allows, and provides a valid reason for the modification - the modification is made without additional cost to the consumer - the consumer is informed in a clear and comprehensible manner of the modification - where the modification negatively impacts the consumer's access to or use of the digital content or digital service, the consumer is informed reasonably in advance on a durable medium (e.g. email) of the features and time of the modification and of the right to terminate the contract, or (if applicable) of the possibility to maintain the digital content or digital service without the modification. Sorry, bruh, but they followed all of that to the letter. I doubt you win this case. Also, regulations rarely work out in favor of the consumer overall. They always look good to desperate or upset people. But it the end they end up screwing us all.

1 Replyin response to your point 6 there has been plenty of advance knowledge. if you were signed up for notifications you would know. There is no contract, so you want them to have 2 versions of the game/ one with the old content and the new version? You're either trolling or you're just being ridiculous. Especially when it comes to the value for money we all get out of video games. For the hundreds/thousands of hours we get out of games, youve more than had your moneys worth.

2 RepliesSeen the legendary edition £50 D2 w forsaken shadoweep and beyond light Charging money for content that doesn't exist anymore We all know But if a new player watches a few old FS or SK vids then spends £50 and boom.. 'Fully mislead'

1 ReplyStasis is op! The new exotics are crack!! You missing out! LMAO!

I can see this happening with other companies, the problem is some do right by their player base and at least try to compensate. This company can't even handle the basics in a game and don't even have a second thought about at least trying to compensate. It's take take take with not much in return. That's the actual issue here.

3 RepliesThis happened with my Tesla yesterday. I did a software update to get new bug fixes but they came and took the passenger seat. They may re release the seat at a later date. (Waves at wife in boot) Seems fair👍

1 ReplyCheck out the awesome videos on -blam!- Law's Virtual Legality YouTube channel. He goes into EULAs at length. There is so much in EULAs that people seem oblivious to - like the fact that you legally can't stream most games at all (see his Twitch videos). Posters above are correct. You own a licence to play the game, not the game itself. Bungie has the right to remove all the content, or even remove the game altogether. Doesn't make it good though. I came back for beyond light and was surprised to see how much was removed. I knew about sunsetting but I didn't truly appreciate the impact it was going to have. Europa's open world looks like an empty sandbox to me. Nothing but white. Indoor areas are nice though. I was expecting that they would give us more in return for sunsetting but it is what it is. I haven't had the time to explore the cosmodrome yet. I hope they've included a sizeable chunk of it - was always my favourite map prior to TTK. Let's face it, the entire franchise has bungled along. It's good to see the incremental updates and there has been some genuinely good stuff - dreaming citty/forsaken -, but that quality of content is few and far between. At least BL is better than TCO. Sadly I paid for the season pass so I'm here for the ride. I do regret paying for more than the expansion. Really hoping they prove me wrong.
-
Are they bringing it back? If so I don't think you've got an argument Things can be taken down "for repair" If they're never bringing that content back. You're still gonna have a hard time, as you technically don't own it, and you technically do agree with their nonsense when you play the game. You should take bungie to court though, keep us updated

12 RepliesEdited by reenry: 11/13/2020 7:14:52 PMForsaken content isnt gone... shadowkeep neither.. only the content they gave out for free is gone

3 RepliesBlack Armoury/Season of the Forge is the biggest kick in the teeth. Probably the best value for money dlc in Forsaken counting the number of actual new weapons and armour and a Raid. And literally no reason to remove it as the 2 worlds that formed the arenas are still in the game.

3 RepliesAlso, all of these f2p players should be in the bottom of a queue if there is any vs those that paid where we get priority over them.
