What the -blam!-.
What the -blam!- are you sun setting gear for if it’s going to force me to get the same thing AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Repliesthen you should have nothing to cry over if you are lucky enough to get back the exact items retired. you would indeed be missing nothing, ergo have nothing to cry over. yet here you are...... play the game is all that's asked, if you feel forced into doing so perhaps you've played this game too long and should occupy yourself with something less rage and tear inducing.

2 RepliesI am a New Light player. I literally just started at Shadowkeep, and I played a lot to get some good guns. Do you know how much of a gut punch it is to see two-thirds of all the gear that I farmed hours for, have now become useless? Only to play some more just to get the same gun, but with a new seasonal icon to indicate that it's no longer sunset? How is THIS fair? And that's not the only one. There's plenty of other weapons that are literally the same thing, but with the Season of Arrivals icon.

Edited by michael: 11/16/2020 9:12:53 AMLet me tell you a story about Long Shadow that basically sums up sunsetting in a nutshell. At the end of Forsaken I got a triple tap, field prep, 7 mag Long Shadow. It was great in PvE so I used it for a lot of shadowkeep. I found out it was getting sunset and was disappointed, only for it to return to the loot pool this time as a world drop. But the arrivals world drop one had a different symbol in the corner of the gun icon, giving it an extra two seasons of usability. And no I did not farm for another one. But heres where it gets really scary. We are now in beyond light, sunsetting has happened, long shadow still in the loot pool. But the beyond light world pool long shadow, the EXACT SAME GUN, has yet ANOTHER new symbol in the corner of the icon giving it another season of usability over the LAST iteration of the world pool long shadow. Another epic long shadow moment? Variks happens to give it to you in the beyond light campaign to do a quest step. A gun that was added to the game two full years ago, being given to you in the NEW campaign. The campaign that came alongside 3/4 of the guns in the game being renderred useless and the rest being given an expiration date, while the clip at which weapons are released remaining the same if not slower. Its like a big sick joke.

Nothing like getting kicked in the nuts huh?
-
That’s also being sunset lmao
-
6 RepliesBecause that’s how loot games work. Only Destiny players refuse to accept this When The Division2 dropped their expansion the sunset the entire loot table, and we had to go earn ALL of it back. Their player base complained fro 2 days...and only about sunset exotics that had drop rates comparable to Destiny raid exotics. Massive addresses that, and the game went on.

I got a blue smg.....same type, same design And its like the recluse pre nerf Exactly like the recluse

1 ReplyI told the bungie defense force that was going to be the case, they gave me crap. They, as usual, were wrong.
-
Simple answer: to inflate game time. After all, farming for the same gun and roll that the one you have, but is "sunset" is "content" in Bungie's eyes. Funny thing: I and a LOT of other people said that this would happen, together with the "reintroduction" of certain weapons with a different name/skin. People were extremelly toxic about us saying it. Like such a thing never happened before. Well. There it is.
-
Does nobody at bungie stand up to whoever is making these really really bad decisions. Playing the game is like eating cold oatmeal now. I am forcing myself to not log off and play something else.
-
Yep where are all the fan boys who said it was going to be good for the game . Enjoy your reskins guardians and don't worry we will give you more of your old stuff back later in the season so you can grind for it again 👍. Nice

Edited by LouieMags4: 11/14/2020 3:16:55 PM100% agree. It completely did me in when they sunset my Gnawing Hunger, which I farmed stupid Reckoning for for hours, only to have them bring it back last season as a token-earned slot machine weapon. Same exact roll, but with a higher number aka more play time until it’s sunset again. The same thing happened with my Lonesome sidearm. Haven’t even mentioned my armor, btw. No way I’m going to re-grind for all of it and then masterwork it. I used to play all three characters each season and loved every minute of it - full builds for PVE and PVP for each. Now, I don’t even play at all. Didn’t even buy the new DLC. I just can’t grind and re-grind like a wind-up monkey with cymbals anymore.
-
1 Replyits a false grind just to keep you playing and falsely keep there numbers up.they take away what you have then replace it with the same weapon same perks and then say go on grind your god roll again .and we get to do it again in a few months lol good days ahead lol
-
2 RepliesI haven't played since they announced the retiring weapons and guns and literally said at the time they will bring the exact same stuff back. I got flamed, called all sorts.....I'm sitting pretty smug right now I tell thee.
-
5 RepliesWait, wait, are you guys telling me that with bungie track record you guys were expecting actually new stuff to replace what was sunset instead of more recycling?
-
14 RepliesEdited by Untallied: 11/12/2020 8:40:45 PMThe Bungie simps are pretty quiet on this one or at least they should be because even they know they were dead WRONG
-
7 Repliesremember when people defended sunsetting with the idea that we will get MORE new loot .. *lol*
-
9 RepliesWarlock Tesseract armor I had that I invested alot of Material into... Was sunset... And guess what .. the exact same fcking Tesseract Armor is dropping for me with the new Caps.... So wtf is the point in Sunsetting again ? I thought we would not see this armor anymore?
-
What the -blam!-. What the -blam!- are you sun setting gear for if it’s going to force me to get the same thing AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
That was the true reason for sunsetting, unfortunately. It sucks.
-
1 Replywow... almost like exactly what happened last time. how.... strange.
-
You knew this was going to happen.
-
Edited by Soul_Eater_42: 11/14/2020 4:52:45 AMMy sunset gear is being replaced with nothing. Both my Subtle Calamity and Hush--and even my Service Revolver--have no replacements. It sucks. Fuck Bungie, and their shitty ideas. They didn't think this through at all. Screwed a lot of players out of their gear just to try and make Pinnacle weapons obsolete. It makes no goddamn sense. Bungie seriously needs to learn the idiom, "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater". They have an awful habit of overdoing things.

1 ReplyEdited by Jones ~Æternum~: 11/13/2020 3:58:18 PMI wish this were true. I get your point, but I have holes in my inventory now from Archetypes that were sunset without replacments. Feeling quite annoyed about sunsetting.
-
We all said that was going to happen. It was already happening with Season of Arrivals, but now it's plain as day. It's so obvious that even the Bungie Defense Force is having a hard time defending it, if they even try to.
-
1 ReplyHaha content.... Content..... My gnawing hunger 2.0 with the exact same perks is so much more fun to play with... 😂😂🤔🤔🤔
-
5 RepliesAt least you get your shit back. Meanwhile bow mains are sitting here with this precision frame with shit accuracy and trash sights wondering if this is what we're stuck with.
