Why do you take damage when escaping from the frozen effect? The punishment for getting hit is to be frozen, why add damage when breaking free? It should feel rewarding but instead you get one shot afterwards. (PvE problem).

This isn't just a pve problem. And don't forget the annoying animation that follows the shitty damage from liberating yourself.

2 RepliesYeahI noticed it too but figured I was just unfreezing wrong. It is kinda wack but just means we gotta play carefully. Personally I'm enjoying the damage after freeze on PvE because it adds an extra danger but for PvP I can see this getting really wack
-
Yeah that almost made me break my controller last night...
-
that's too obvious for bungie
-
Really feels like it's supposed to be working the other way around, if you break out you take no damage but if you wait you take a chunk. Feels really cheap and unrewarding to break out of a CC only to take a massive blow to your health that puts you in the red. Not been having the issue as much since overlevelling the content, but when you're even just 10 below, breaking out of freeze is basically "here, take a death". I'm not even going to touch Crucible this season if I can avoid it.

1 ReplyIf your in super then hold the fire button to break free without taking damage
-
13 RepliesTip for those who don't know: You only take damage for breaking free early. If you wait out the 5 second frozen debuff you will unfreeze without taking damage. Only do an early break out if you really gotta move from where you got caught.

1 ReplyEdited by Cal O'Mari: 11/12/2020 10:59:26 PMI don't mind the freezing in PvE, except I do agree the insane damage taken from being frozen, on top of taking forever to get free, is absolutely dumb. Freeze me, that's fine, maybe damage over time, but no I should never take damage from breaking out of it, that's so dumb. I like it being changed up, that I can use the stasis defensively and offensively, but they got some major things to work out with this, it very clearly wasn't tested in my views here. I will say it 100% should NEVER be a PvP mechanic. It feels like this is the most INSANELY obvious, ridiculous common sense thing that if you're a game developer, you should just know, but a college degree seems to revoke common sense knowledge from people, its really weird. It should absolutely be taken out of PvP or modified where it does damage but doesn't stop you, that would be acceptable. All I know, I'm not touching PvP, and god I hope its not required to get new abilities... I'm positive it is somewhere though, hope is a pointless concept in life. Bungie could be hurting really bad, really soon if they don't address this stuff.

I agree with this point 100%

1 ReplyWhat hurts the most is not only do you take damage to near death but you also gotta hold down the escape button fpr 80 years and still take damage from shots.... they will nerf freeze effects(not confirmed but its obvious) but it will probably be a long ass time before they do.....

5 RepliesRead bungie’s new twab it explains it all. Damage from breaking free is the trade off for not waiting out the freeze time.
-
Totally. Seems like it’s the wrong way around.

9 RepliesI think it's just a new learning curve that we'll all get used to eventually, although I wouldn't be surprised if it gets nerfed or decreased in damage taken. The whole point of stasis is that it encourages players to think about scenarios rather than just aping through the campaign. I did every campaign mission ~30 power levels below recommended and it was actually difficult and I enjoyed having some story content that was challenging for once. People just need to adapt (destiny players aren't so good at that I know) and enjoy the new mechanics. Getting very strong d1 vibes from this expansion. If you ever think that d2 is hard go back and play some d1 missions below recommended power, you'll see that they're harder, and it's more enjoyable because of that. Bungie did a great job.

1 ReplyIt has to be said: just don’t get frozen. After I took the first couple of hits, I figured out right away what was happening. I haven’t been frozen since. Seriously, just be more mobile. Jump. Dodge. Weave. It works.
-
You're hurt by the Stasis shards shattering, just like you hurt enemies with them.
-
At the very least it should be reduced.
-
I think the damage on breaking out is fine, but there should NOT be a stagger animation when you break free. You were already stuck for like 2 seconds on top of losing a large amount of health, why is there a second animation for breaking free? JUST LET ME MOVE.
-
4 Repliesbeing frozen as a guardian is a terrible idea. we shouldn’t be frozen in pve or pvp, we should only be able to freeze pve enemies.
-
1 ReplyI would like to believe that the damage numbers you're seeing is the damage over time effect, just like when you get hit with Thorn. It's the same principle as when you get in the AoE of any other grenade or smoke bomb. The only difference is that you're immobilized until you either break out of it or get shot or slapped into pieces.
-
9 RepliesBungie only knows how to make things hard by enemy spam and heavy damage, they cant make challenging content
-
the damage from escaping needs to be removed from pvp but personally i think its fine in pve.
-
Yeah, terrible mechanic.

1 ReplyI haven't had this issue. I been speedrunning vanguard all day. It's pretty easy to avoid, you have about 3 seconds to react. 3 seconds is plenty time to jump out the way. Iv been frozen maybe twice in pve, survived both with half health. Pvp iv killed ppl who think their being smart when in reality they created their own death trap. You just gotta switch up your play style. I like the idea, the faster they die the less they cast.
