I love it, its slightly darker, but not duller or less crisp, its kinda like what it was like in D1 but honestly better. I absolutely love the lighting now, it makes the planets feel more alien and more strange and really gives an air of adventure. Thankyou Bungie. I dont know if you saw my post like 3 months ago or took it on without anyone's ideas but yall did great.

4 RepliesI must have something messed up with my settings. Nessus looks way worse now in 4k. Anyone else seeing the same thing?
-
The colors seem oversaturated or something. Go play Gambit and see the harsh shadows and deep reds everywhere. Looks awful.
-
Yeah. That’s what we bought the game for. Lighting changes.
-
8 RepliesIt looks great for campaign missions and the tower but for crucible, it’s too bright and the contrast looks awful. I’m playing on an OLED display and no matter how I calibrate it, it still looks awful, especially crucible.

I was wondering what happened to the colors in-game... Everything looked normal before the update, but now sometimes colors just don't look right. The best way I can describe it is: colors are sometimes either too sharp, too bright, too dark, or have too much of a "red" or "blue" tint especially in environments. I thought that my settings or something else had changed - so I checked the settings in-game, in nvidia control panel, and on my 4K QLED TV (I game in 1080p/120hz instead of 4K/HDR/60hz because better performance) - but everything was the same as before the update. It's only like this in this game, so it's not my system, and I did not develop some weird color-perception-disorder just over night... I've also noticed that a lot of shaders now look different in-game than how they do in menus (character select, inventory, etc.). For example: I had a shader equipped on my armor that was mostly black and bronze, but now in-game that bronze color looks silver even though it's still bronze in the menus. I assume that's also because of this "lighting" change... I'm not liking this change at all, so if there's a way to revert it then please advise...

1 Replythis is how hard it is to complement bungo now well I bet u also like how they mastered the font for the subtitles

Proper Lighting in a game can make a world of difference. I studied that in college. They did a good job.
-
1 Replythe game feels much more fluid on Ps4
-
Yeah, it does look good. At least they got that part right.
-
I was thinking the graphics quality was slightly improved but yeah I guess it's the lighting. I am loving it, the game legitimately looks higher quality to me with this change.
-
I’m noticing a lot of good changes in the game. The maps and artwork are incredible Being able to choose pve or pvp track for weappn quests The campaign is fun. I think Bungie put a lot into this update. Europa is impressive.

7 RepliesThe lighting does look incredible! Definitely on the right track at least. Only problem my buddy had is it made his guardian look different. Would be awesome to have a re-customization option

Bottom tree striker hurts my eyes now ...

1 ReplyEspecially in the tower

Colors looked washed out on the Deep Six map on Titan
-
HDR is not useless anymore either! Now it finally can be used. Before it was way to dark, even with adjusting

I came here for this. I had a little time to play yesterday and noticed something that made the game feel so much more crisp. This is it.
-
Agreed, good job on lighting effects and improved HDR , just reds hues on Nessus are way overcrushed compared to the nice overhaul Bungie made eslewhere - perhaps because of my 2 year old TV. Could be better on a pricey recent set.
-
Yes. Very d1-esk. A welcome change indeed. Feels bad for those who made new guardians look good on the vanilla d2 system. The colors there were not very well represented to what they actually looked like.
-
Agreed

The colors seem way sharper to me

The only complaint is that I have run into a few lighting bugs when inside buildings with a lot of sunshine in them
