Disclaimer: I am not saying this to endorse or target any clans. When I say a big clan, that means it has over 200 people in it. I am doing this from a perspective that I have gained over the years of playing destiny 2.
When people look for clans, they look for big groups of players so they can learn to do more raids and activities. There are so many reasons why the downsides of joining a big clan outweighs the upsides.
First, let’s talk about the only upside of joining a big clan
1. You will find more people than want to more raids and activities that know how to do them.
Now, let’s see the downside of joining a big clan
1. You lose all sense of personal touch with the leaders and admin. When they recruit people to join, 9/10 times, they will downvote other clans so less people will join them. Not only that, but they just copy and paste the same slogan and don’t even read your post. Smaller clans have a higher probability that they will take the time and write a different message to each person.
2. You are not able to make friends because you play with so many people, it is hard to make friends with a select few
3. You feel like an ant. If you don’t know how do something, there are less people willing to teach you, and if you don’t know, people will not invite you and instead invite someone else.
4. Corruption happens when there is a lot of power. When there are thousands of people you are in charge of, there is a greater chance that there will be corruption. By this I mean they will care less about the personal. With so many people, they will not consider everyone’s interest, but what is easiest and most beneficial to them.
With all of these facts, it just seems to me like smaller clans are better. I know this because I joined a lot of these big clans. I don’t want them gone, but in the state they are in, they have to make major reforms to be better.
That’s why Dunder Mifflin never went bankrupt. Because of the personal touch. When you see that there is clan of 6000 people, think about being in a small clan. I have interviewed others that have left those big clans and have not had good experiences, because you lose the personal touch that made those clans so great.
I know this is long, but I see too many people looking at these big clans, only to leave a week later, so thank you if you made it this far, I hope you have a good rest of your day/night.
Edit: People who run bigger clans downvote this, so if you found it helpful, please upvote it so they can’t just snuff it out. *Now I sound like a YouTuber asking for subs*

4 RepliesYou sound more like a whiny, petulant child who can't get his clan off the ground and blames bigger clans. My advice? Look at my first point, and try to be less so.

3 RepliesEdited by chaos0720: 11/9/2020 11:24:08 PMMy shit gets downvoted all the time. I wouldn't think anything of it. There are clans (not all big clans, but there are some) that get into pissing contents with each other and downvote every single recruitment post just because they can.

1 ReplyI made this to help players not make the mistake to chose the wrong clan. I’m not saying all big clans are bad, but off me experience, it is more reliable to join a smaller clan

1 ReplyI don’t agree with this at all. You have definitely made a generic blanket statement for all big clans. While I agree a big clan can be very intimidating to some and people can get lost in the massive amounts of people. I think it’s all about what the goal of the multi-clan is. For our big clan we like to promote positivity and remove anyone who is being toxic. We understand that Destiny can be a very intimidating game, and people can get frustrated, confused, and give up on the game after doing only a couple missions. The best way to enjoy Destiny is with friends and can definitely make it the best game out there for meeting people and making lasting relationships. I like to think of our clan as a social network, we have people join one of our featured clans and then encourage people to play together. If you meet someone that you really get along with we tell people to move to their clan and make friendships. We also have an amazing structure set up for people who want to start their own clan but don’t know how to begin going about it. We are only a multi clan because Destiny clans max out at 100 people. I LOVE meeting new people and making memories and creating friendships. What multi clans do is instead of joining an lfg and just getting in and doing what you need to do and leaving (never to hear from any of those people again) you might run into the same person again in this community that has been made. I’ve been in both small and big clans. Small clans can also be notorious for forming cliques and then people feel left out and the core group just keeps gaming together meanwhile making people feel neglected or left out. I think what this all really comes down to is the individual. If you really want to meet people, the key is to not expect people to cater to your needs but to go out and help other people. I love having our big clan because there are so many different types of people out there to meet with different stories so why limit yourself to just your core group or clan. I never would of thought that our clan would of grown to what it is but we are obviously doing something right. This is a video game to have fun and take a break from the stresses of every day life, so we never make this into a job or another stress for anyone involved. Just a place to hang out and meet other people obsessed with Destiny. I have 82 people in my own clan and I can honestly say I’ve gamed with all of them and have made some amazing friendships because of our multiclan. Thanks for the read and please do NOT post anything on our forum posts again. Also we NEVER tell anyone from our clans to downvote anyone else’s posts

I've said for years that giant multiclan congregations are just a glorified LFG. Not for me, but to each their own.
