To preface, I am no Destiny Lore expert. I have been around since D1 beta so I'm not clueless.
The thought in my mind: I remember something about the number after an exo's name is the amount of times they have been "rebooted(?)" so Cayde-6 has been rebooted 6 times. Banshee-44 "has lived many lives" on his 44th reboot.
As we head to Europa, where Exos were created, we are bound to learn a ton about them- probably including how to build/fabricate and therefore rebuild the exo body/mind. Could there then be a chance that we rebuild and reboot a Cayde-7?

Cayde isnt coming back. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever

I don’t claim to be an expert on Exo lore, but I know they are more than just robots. For lack of a better word, Cayde’s “soul” has passed on. He’s dead. Re-booting an Exo ( how they get those numbers ) is like a memory wipe. But that process requires brain activity, and a soul. And since Destiny time is the equivalent of real world time, Cayde’s been dead for over 2 years.

Edited by Natdeguerre: 11/8/2020 1:07:08 AMTechnically there could be. Clovis senior kept a copy of Elsie’s brain scan for instance and also had two versions of his own. One for an Exo body and one for storage in the deep stone crypt. Those were highly detailed scans that killed the person’s biological body in the process. He also had Elsie’s memories stored separately for her to access later. Now, he had a library of less detailed brain scans and those sounded more like they were a one time use kinda deal. Hard to say. Maybe we will come across a Cayde scan in one of the servers in the crypt. Probably not though. And even if there was, that scan would be from Cayde as a human and not include any of his memories as a guardian. It would almost be like Uldren in reverse lol, who knows. Nathan Fillion is probably busy with his TV series. It’s doubtful he’ll reprise his role as Cayde. Nolan North stood in for him during forsaken, I guess he could take over. It always felt a little off to me though tbh, but perhaps over time I could get used to it.

2 RepliesUnfortunately Cayde-6 is dead. In theory, it's possible (Not 100%) that there could be a Remnant of Human Cayde in the Servers. A copy you could say. It's possible that during the process, a person is put into Stasis, then a Digital picture is taken. Then it's transmitted into the Exos mind. Again just a Theory.

Edited by --KNIGHT--: 11/7/2020 12:54:27 PMKnowing Bungie and their love for the number 7 it could be possible. Cayde was not shot in the head when he died, suggesting that his brain is still intact, and knowing Braytech they're smart buggers. I dont think itll be impossible.

No. He's dead. D E A D. What would be the purpose of the Forsaken expansion, story and campaign then? Exactly, nothing.

1 ReplyYes, he will be zombie Cayde. The raid boss.

1 ReplyCAYDE 7 FOUND IN DEEP STONE CRYPT????!!!!!!???!?!?!?
let go
2 RepliesNo. For multiple reasons. Firstly even if we can bring him back and reboot him, he won’t be the same. He’ll likely have memories missing and if he remembers his death he’s gonna be messed up. Also he’ll be Lightless because of Sundance being dead. Secondly, it would go against his wishes. He was very much against the idea of a Cayde-7 so it would completely disregard that. Finally, bringing back Cayde as a character will retroactively make the plot point of Forsaken meaningless. His return makes the character development of Us, Ghost, Zavala, Ikora, Amanda, Banshee-44, Petra, Hawthorne, Devrim, Failsafe meaningless. Why bring him back when his death was a major plot point. Because people liked him? Death needs to be a permanent part in Destiny. Especially when it comes to the good guys.

Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
Only if they pay Nathan Fillion enough to reprise his role It could be possible dealing with the DSC , maybe that’s the theme of a future season, working with the Vanguard to bring him back. His memory core is still in his former frame at the tower. -
That is not how Exo work.
