With Beyond Light, will we be able to change our characters FACE / GENDER / RACE ?
Hey Bungie !
I've had my huntress since D1 (I made her again with the exact same face and colours on D2), but I've been thinking I would like to be able to change it up a bit.
So I was wondering : [b]With beyond light, will we have the option to modifiy our characters face / colours / gender / race (exo, human, aroken)[/b] ?
You also did some changes to the face settings and my characters doesnt really feel the same. I know you didn't mean to affect us this way, and I'm not saying I'm angry at you for it, but I do believe it would be fair if we could have the option to simply MODIFY our character (just once per character).
I simply dont want to have to delete a character in order to change another's appearance :3

I just want to change my guys eye colour back to red because Bungie screwed up and now my eye colour is white for some reason

Quick answer: Confirmed no. Bungie currently has made no mention of post character creation. However, Bungie has also confirmed in several interviews and news articles that they will be revamping the character creator for the new player experience, and will generally overhaul character faces in general. So in other words, if your character looks a little different in Beyond Light, do not be shocked. They are adding finer details to currently existing face models. You can hope in later expansions that post-character creation editing is avialable.

I made my guardian look like I did. Six years ago. I would like to change that. 15 year old me is not what I want to see every time I get a cutscene in this game

No you wont get that in BL, it's a pipe dream...and if Bungie were to [i]find[/i] a way to put it in (which they wont because of "reasons"), they'd monetize the living sh*t out of it. $10 per hair style $5 per color change on each hair/skin/eyes, etc.

Would be cool if contact with darkness powers could alter our appearance I want to change my Titan, He is just too plain Every respectable RPG /MMO has a way to change your appearance, but in Destiny we are stuck with decisions we made 6 years ago !!! -
They already confirmed that: no. You can't with Beyond Light. They do plan some sort of recreation later on though. Maybe as part of a later season is my guess.

According to the response, we can become more gender-neutral to keep up with current events, but still can't have a beard.

3 RepliesAs far as official information goes, I believe this portion from TWAB 9/24/2020 was the most recent update in terms of character appearance changes. [quote][b]We rebuilt our character face system.[/b] We know that how your Guardians look is important to you, and we’ve long wanted to add more player customization to Destiny. Our original system for player faces had some combinatoric content authoring problems – for example, every decal had to be authored completely custom for each player face permutation. This prevented us from extending this area of the game with more content and features. We’ve upgraded to a significantly more capable system (with e.g. runtime decal projection), which we hope to leverage for more player customization options in the future. As part of this process we reviewed the existing player models with our Diversity Committee and Employee Resource Groups in the studio to make small tweaks to existing player heads. We’re also building a list of Guardian face shapes we should bring to the game in the future in order to increase Guardian diversity in Destiny, with the long-term goal of enabling everyone to imagine themselves as their Guardian. What you might notice: Your Guardian’s face may look a bit different. [/quote] Basically: How the player character face is generated/rendered was changed to easily support more additions. My [i]speculation[/i]: More additions in the future likely means they would want existing players to be able to take advantage of it, and add a 'face-change' sort of component sometime down the line.

It was discussing in ... arg I can't recall where, but basically, the character creation rendering pipeline code is hell, and will have to be redone. They are on it and some character faces will slightly change due to the new code when it lands. And they cannot provide any timeline yet. Probably one more year, I would say. Not promising anything though.

I can't say what I want because moderators or ninjas will remove it as they are petty like that. You will be able to change them at some point. That is all.
