I don’t know, Bungie likes to kill off characters to sell expansions , and it looks like he gets caught helping us by Eramis and he is surrounded by her troops But hopefully we save him before she turns him into a Eliksni Ice Cube -
They killed off cayde because he was getting stale and because Fillion had to leave, and unlike some spineless studios, they chose to give the character a proper send off. Variks on the other hand is getting a lot of stuff involving him, what with House of Rains prophecies, Uldren being alive, and whatnot.
