A Speaker alive at the time recalls there being extremely bad natural hazards and plagued occurring everywhere. Cayde recalls being gripped and held in place before some happened. According to city records, on the first day the sky went black, on the next the Traveler fell or something like that. According to Henrietta Meyrin, beasts that sounds like mechanical compressors and smelled of wet earth attacked the Niobe Labs at the time. All of this is from the Last Days of Kraken Mare, Constellations, The Taken King collectors edition journal, the season of arrivals cinematic and Black Armoury Pages. As for a timeline, nothing.

4 RepliesJust a thought we have all these high tech forges, golden age research facilities and colonisations..... and yet nobody decided to film it, or take pictures to keep them on servers. We only hear recordings and journal entries.

Not much is known but it wasn’t short. There is a Titan armor set called RPC Valiant. Made for the Prime Guard that saw the collapse of the Golden Age. You don’t make special armor for defenders in a week or two of conflict. This is what I can recall: Traveler leaves Io and heads to Earth Prior to entering system, the Darkness encounters a colony ship. The Traveler fires at it, causing a singularity that the ship falls into. This is the birth of the Awoken. Darkness enters system and attacks Titan. The Vex start converting worlds, after three days the Traveler intervenes and stops them. We know it goes to Mercury to stop them there but do not know if it went to each planet. Though if it didn’t need to travel, why leave Earth and go to Mercury. The Traveler is back on Earth where it fights and loses to the Darkness. We know Exos fought but I can recall any info about when, where or how much ground war they had. I lean to a few months, maybe a few years. Depends on exactly what sort of ground forces were employed by the Darkness to wipe us out. There is also the clear potential for corruption and in fighting. Either as a tool to wipe us out as we resisted or a lingering effect after the main war was over.

A lot of people died, we got our asses kicked by the darkness and the traveler went unconscious It really sucked, and it could happen again -
Ishtar Collective has a solid timeline of events in Destiny and the Black Armory Pages have the only description I know of during the collapse as told by a human mother.
