Should a casual player buy Beyond Light or time to leave it maybe :S

Hey all , so i am a day one destiny 1 and 2 player , recently have not played Destiny 2 in so looooooooooong until today, jumped on grinded out a few things on my titan day one d1 character and was ok but i got sick of it. I still have not done raids D2 yet :( and leviathan being removed etc. I am just wondering if I should buy Beyond Light or maybe just leave it, I'm in two minds, Sometimes Destiny is fun and i enjoy it other times am sick of the grind, get tired of it and feel like the goal posts are always being moved and feel like unless i play destiny all the time like i did the first year of D1 i will not get anywhere. I also enjoy Single player games RPG, action adventure more and also Racing games too more than Destiny. Also around November is Cyberpunk too which i will be playing and Far Cry 6 next year and other games down the line. I also own Destiny 1 and all dlc on PS4 PRO and xbox one X and own Destiny 2 all dlc on PS4 Pro ( Day one on PlayStation) and own Destiny 2 up to Warmind on Xbox one X, Also own Destiny on X360 and PS3 lol. I am just unsure if i should spend more money on the game with Beyond light Deluxe edition and put even more time in to it, Also next gen is coming too Series X for me 10th of November :) [spoiler]Moderator edit: This thread has been updated with tags that are more appropriate. • If you got xbox just try it on gamepass. Literally no reason to buy it otherwise if you haven't already.

  • Day one player that started fading out during Shadowkeep. The subsequent seasons disillusioned me more. Save your money and time.

Honest answer from a Destiny vet like you. The grind is still there. Not going away. The grind lately though has just become pointless. Bungo is running out of ideas that they are just literally copying other games in their progression by sunsetting gear. Bounties are still a big part of it and becomes the end-game activity. They say they will change it, but I still expect it to still be a part of end-game as usual. The game has become a filler while Bungo is working on other projects. They are trying to improve it, but with Activision gone, I don't think Bungo could do a lot in terms of improving things. Heck, even with Activision on their side, Activision has to throw 2 other studios at them just to help Bungo with passing content deadlines. Like I said, Bungo got their hands full on other projects. And Destiny 2 just feels like a filler game now in between new IP releases. I doubt any huge changes will take effect. You'll still see some same old, same old grind mechanics. Season pass model is also a flop this year. But they're still heading that direction with a slight twist every now and then. The studio is clearly divided in terms of manpower. This is my 2 cents since they will never admit to this. No company will ever tell trade secrets. Other than that, the biggest change happening in the game is the Sunsetting BS. Which again is not original either. Another copy-cat idea Bungo stole somewhere. They're also busy making new stuff at Eververse. Which in my opinion is not going away anywhere. Like I said, game feels like a filler now that Bungo is just milking this game by any means while working other projects. That's about it. Other than that, nowadays, when Bungo makes a Video Game, it comes out as a Magic Card game! Bungie Logic!

Beyond Light is not worth 2/3rds of a full game. $40 for what they’re giving you is asinine.

  • From reading your reply, wait for beyond lights reception from people who bought it and make your decision then. It doesn't have to be so black and white like you need it at launch, or if you don't buy it at launch you don't buy it ever.

    • If you do decide to get beyond light, only word of advice i can give you is don’t get attached to anything. They’ll find a way to constantly make changes that’ll make you go “?” The new dlc looks cool, but all that cool stuff won’t be the same for long because they will probably nerf half of it after a month or two. The new direction they are going in is best to spectate from afar than be a part of, until you’re absolutely sure if this game is worth your time

    • At the end of the day it is whatever turns your crank! Don't rely on others to make decisions for you. They don't feel the same about things like you do and vica versa. I am waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 and Farcry 6 to come out. Then Destiny will be a sideshow for me. I may play a couple of hours a week but that is it. I personally don't like Beyond Light and things are going to change for the worst, but they are my thoughts about it and should'nt sway anyone from their course.. Decisions, decisions... lol

If you’ve a XBsX on pre order & you could run Game Pass for a trial month, then play it on there (‘seasons’ content is extra cash though) But do yourself a huge favour - don’t bother buying it for multiple platforms - You’ve been absent from D2 since Y1 (after the Warmind expansion) & you missed out on the best year of D2 with Y2 Forsaken - & it’s slowly gone down the pan since Y3 ShadowKeep (Bungie are showing to be very competent at making really bad decisions - FOMO/Sunsetting/Half Baked Goods/Nerfing & ridiculous hamster miles needed) You’ve escaped, stay there....pointless returning to the hamster wheel That’s just throwing money away!

      • I saw you play Xbox, it’s in the Gamepass thing now so you can enjoy t without buying it. Still would have to pay for the battle pass loot passage if you were inclined to.

      • If your interested, its up to you in the end. Are there other games your interested in that will be soon coming out? Honestly im getting it because there aren’t other games coming out this year that im interested in. (Though to be fair i think im a hardcore player XD) But i digress like i said the decision is entirely yours.

        • If YOU like the game, buy it. Don't wait around for someone else to tell you what to do.
