What a terrible experience. I thought I disliked playing through Survival for Not Forgotten, but in comparison to 6v6 comp is the best thing ever. I just can’t comprehend why it’s so s-it. Is it the SBMM connection still feeling present? Is it the seemingly unlimited heavy? Is it the clusterf-k of supers after the first 3 minutes? Or Is it the increasingly bad latency and hit registration?
I just don’t understand how it can feel so incredibly bad even compared to an actual SBMM game mode like comp? How?! It’s like the peer-to-peer system is on the verge of exploding every game, maybe we need dedicated servers, maybe that’s not the answer. Obviously cheaters need to be addressed, but that goes for every FPS right now. Special ammo economy is its own problem, not gonna pretend to have the answers for that, and I’m okay enough with where it is right now to not be bothered if no changes are made.
I’m just so amazed that Bungie can be creating new problems and add variables (with Stasis) to an already broken system. If nothing else, I think latency and hit registration need to stop being so tilting and game-altering, and maybe focus on creating an actually better version of CBMM with much more emphasis on the actual CONNECTION. Fix the lobby-balancing while you’re at it, it’s s-it. I know Bungie is much more focused on PvE, and I think they should, but leaving PvP to be in such a situation shouldn’t be an option either.
This really turned into a rant, but wow, am I pissed. I started obviously hot-blooded, but cooled off while writing and decided to turn my angry, spur-of-the-moment post into something more comprehensive. I know it won’t change anything, as this isn’t my first post like this, but I hate feeling like I’m torturing myself or deluding myself when I go into 6v6 thinking it’ll be better than last time. Anyway, thanks for reading this, non-Bungie employees, cause I know they don’t bother with posts like this.

One of the biggest problem is that most of the maps were made for 4v4, since that's how PvP was when D2 first dropped. It doesn't help that Bungie hasn't really added many maps to PvP.
-
3 Replies6v6 is a cluster -blam!-. people are now running in groups together.
-
For me it's the latency and hit reg. I don't know what it is but it seems so much worse as of late.
-
SBMM doesn’t belong in this game. It’s not competitive. It has so many cheese weapons that literally aim for you just to shrink the skill gap. Especially in a P2P game like D2.

1 ReplyEasy fix put skirmish and salvage back in in a rotating 3v3 casual playlist.
-
6 RepliesTotally, they need to make it 4v4 with no special ammo

Well said. Time of day and number presence of teams in the game makes a vast, tremendous difference to quality. Can feel like a different game. Late morning lobbies are full of players from Asia, laggy as F. Late at night, fireteams going everywhere every match, laggy as F. Mid to late afternoon, no fireteams (people locally hopping on casually after work and school I guess) and it fells crisp and fun. Guns actually work, no indestructible shotgun warriors, no teleports, no getting insta-killed before you even round a corner.

1 ReplyEdited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 10/16/2020 7:32:33 AMAlways has been. Too many folks on too small maps. Especially on pc / mnkb where folks react faster, are more accurate and move better. Results in too many random stuff that can get you killed without you having much agency in it. You spawning on them, them spawning on you. Or close to you. Or behind you. Always the couple guys coming up on the rear or flanks. The random sniper on that seemingly empty lane who just spawned up there. So many kills from so many folks boosting the super generation. Good god all the one hit kills in the game amplify everything. Then put in 1 extremely high skill bracket outlier player in the lobby and the team balancing goes 1, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 vs 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. So the second team won the game before it even started with 95% winning odds. It's a shiteshow. 3v3s are fun though. Rumble is very fun. Common thing with those? Less players on the map.

3 RepliesThen enjoy 3v3 man. D2 has flavors for all players. I personally do not take the game so serious as some so 6v6 is great to me but yes it does have issues.
-
2 RepliesThe chaos of 6v6 is what let's non meta weapons thrive. I like it.
-
1 ReplyThe maps were all designed for 4v4 apart from 2-3 imported fom D1 after the fact Adding 6v6 to small maps was already a problem then they exacerbated it with CBMM. I hate QP now, but if I go to Survival my competitive spirit kicks in and I end up caring about winning too much There needs to be CBMM vs SBMM voting in a casual/quick-play mode on bigger maps
-
2 RepliesThe problem with 6v6, outside of the general PvP issues like P2P servers, is that most of the maps are simply too small, some being too small for 4v4 as well.
-
1 ReplyNot sure if this will help but try playing at a different time of the day. I suffer all of the things you mention late afternoon and early evening(east coast Aus) but works fine later. It seems to revolve around the playing population I always seem to be matched with teams around SE Asia early in the afternoon with the attendant increase in latency then moves to NZ groups late in afternoon which improves things.

1 Reply12v12 ?

3 RepliesI never want to return to 4v4 ever again.

3 RepliesThe NEW maps should solve it. We’re getting new maps right?
-
1 Reply6v6 on these too small maps is a cluster-blam!-. Sometimes I don't know where up and down is because of all the stuff that is thrown and fired at me. Effects everywhere. A miracle that my PS4 hasn't exploded yet or transformed into a helicopter.

1 ReplyI've given up on 6v6. I just started playing Survival 3x3 recently (to finish one of Xur's quests) and it was very decent on both the regular and freelance lists. It was also interesting to note that I saw very little of the Flawless, Unbroken, etc, players, unlike Control where matches almost invariably have several of these players even though they are supposed to be rare. So if you are going to dip into PvP, avoid Control if you want to reduce your aggravation.

5 Repliesp2p and D2 maps are trash. The D1 maps in the rotation are actually just as fun right now as they always were.
-
1 ReplyEdited by iliopoulosXD: 10/16/2020 6:29:21 PMIt's ok. Try hards who run meta and fireteams of unbroken dont want competition or the growth from players they want to steamroll easy marks. And bungienis tone deaf to a community where 85% of the base is ignored and worse not engaging significant portions of the content.
-
48 Replies6v6 is besically the only place non meta weapons can be actually used as another guy said. Its meant to be chaotic.
-
1 ReplyThe game and maps weren't originally designed for 6v6, and the peer-to-peer system is absolute trash. Always will be trash. If you remember the release Crucible was 4v4. 6v6 was re-added after the crying of PvPers. It's really no surprise it plays like crap.

1 ReplyAfter survival solo for unbroken I fell in love with solo que. tried playing IB last 3 seasons and it’s just awful. Small maps/6 stacks/matchmaking broken. A ton of unpredictability with that many supers and flankers. I do think solo que IB will be a great addition and if it works, it may get moved to 6v6 quick play which I would love. Oh, and ADD CLASH PLAYLIST!!!!

1 ReplyEdited by Stari: 10/16/2020 9:34:18 AMFor me 3vs3 is unplayable.
