Class balancing needed? Traction Mod (+5 & +10 hidden Mobility btw) + Lightweight Frame (+20 Mobility) gives Hunters an unfair advantage because it boosts dodge cooldown but other classes don't have a corollary combo for their class abilities

Yes, give a mod & archetype boost for each class

149

No, ONLY Hunters should be able to get C.A. boost

40

Yes, keep the same, but Hunters - the dodge boost

11

Yes, rework both traction mod & LW frame entirely

12

Yes, give all class abilities buffs from Trac & LW

16

Many people don't know traction adds +15 (not just the 5 shown) mobility. Also, they don't know Lightweight Frame weapons add +20 Mobility. Why, because why would bungie show data correctly in game, that would make too much sense, but i digress. The issue here is the 35 boost to mobility has a secondary, ridiculous, side effect. The combo of these 2 things allows Hunters to get not only 100 Effective mobility while only achieving 65 on the stat line (this part is the case for all characters) BUT ALSO this takes their class ability regen down to it's maximum, of 9 seconds...despite being a 65 mobility (which should be every 18 seconds). For the math inept among us that is half as fast. Imagine 2 things taking barricade down from 30 seconds to 15 at 65 resilience. Imagine warlocks popping rifts every 30 seconds down from 1 minute at 65 recovery. So, what mod can titans and warlocks PLUG INTO A SECONDARY MOD SLOT to boost their resilience or recovery stat to gain a cooldown buff on their barricades or rifts you might ask? NONE, there is no such mod. Only Hunters get a mod in a secondary slot that boosts their ability cooldown. So, what weapon archetype can titans and warlocks use to boost their resilience or recovery stat to gain a cooldown buff on their barricades or rifts you might ask? NONE, there is no weapon archetype that boosts either of these stats. Finally that gets us to why i went with a poll. There's several solutions, what does the community think balances things in the best way? 1) Give a secondary mod & weapon archetype boost so each class can do this This would be the coolest solution, a secondary mod that adds +15 to res. or recov. PLUS say high impact frames also boost +20 resilience boost like lightweight does mobility, so everyone can use these weapons for that buff, but titans get an extra buff to their barricade cooldown; everyone could use aggressive frames for a +20 recovery boost, but locks get the the benefit of a rift boost. Ultimately this sounds like a lot of work, so lets assume while cool as hell this is never gonna happen. 2) ONLY Hunters should be able to get Class Ability boost from both secondary mods and weapons. Because their ridiculous dodge cooldown isn't already broken enough, they need the extra extra help & an effective 35 skill points they can allocate to other stats is vital to give them a leg up. 3) Keep things the same on the mobility stat, but Hunters lose the dodge cooldown boost. This by far makes the most sense and would be the easiest to implement. It is absurd they get to double dip on both secondary mods AND weapon type unlike any other class. 4) Rework both the traction mod & lightweight frames entirely. This too sounds like a ton of work. But as long as hunter dodge is going to be tied 1-1 to the mobility stat, pick a more balanced way for these mods to work. 5) Give all class abilities buffs from the traction mod & lightweight frames. IE, traction and lightweight frames buff ANY class ability equally, not only hunter class abilities.

  • It’s not really an issue. All classes have strengths and weaknesses and you can play the “this class is unfair because” game with all of them. However, it’s not a bad Idea to have certain frames or mods that give passive buffs. Your motivations seem a little salt related though. Never a good place to come from.

    • I knew about Traction's extra mobility and its effect on Dodge, but not lightweight frames (just thought it made you faster). Was wondering why my Hunter's dodge was coming off cooldown so quickly while only at 79 Mobility with Traction and Le Monarque (not listed but it's lightweight) out. Getting 15 Resilience from a 3 cost mod would be slightly beneficial. Especially right now with my Titan sitting at 66 Resilience and the upcoming overshield exotic. Not sure what weapon frame would be good for a 20 point boost though. Now 15 Recovery from a 3 point mod would be amazing. Let alone a 20 point boost gained from a weapon archetype. Purely because an individual Recovery mod costs 4 energy to slot. So getting 150% of the effect for 3 points and the equivalent of 2 mods for free with the right weapon would be ridiculous. However, the affect on Rift cooldowns would be an afterthought for me. While they're useful in PvE they need a hard rework for PvP before I'll even remotely consider a reduced cooldown as more than a fringe benefit. As they are right now I rarely ever drop Rifts because more often than not they're not worth using.

I'd go with option 3 if I really had to choose. Although I wish traction wasn't a mod, and it was just an option in sensitivity settings. It'd be nice to be able to run dexterity perks, but I always run traction and a scavenger mod unless I'm using a Charged With Light build in PvE. Although I think most players who use the two would still run them irregardless of the mobility buffs, since the tighter turn radius is liked a lot by many controller players in PvP(MnK players only use traction for the Mobility bump). And Lightweight Hand Cannons would still be better than Adaptives simply due to killing in the same shots around 99% of the time, but with a faster fire rate and much more aim assist.

              • it still pains me that hunters (using a few tricks) can actually get more overall healing with a dodge combo than someone using a rift given the overall cooldowns. we will have to see with bl as to what might change, but i dont see any way that bungie can make rifts or barricades more useful than doge atm without either adding in a bunch of exotics or lowering the recharge rate

                    • I feel traction should be a thing that all players already have without the need if a mod. Just like how we finally got the sprint delay removed in D2, bungie should make traction a permanent and all around passive.

                      • Besides dodge cool down recovery from a the most important stat in PvP, every class wants it. Intellect is next in the stat hierarchy since super can change game flow.

The hidden mobility buffs that traction and lw frame give shouldn't affect dodge charge time, unless they do and the game just doesnt show it. That's something I would have to test. Edit: Clear from replies that these hidden effects have been tested and DO affect those charge times, they really shouldn't. As a hunter myself that gives us higher stat potential than any other class, especially combined with things like powerful friends. To an extent that's fine, because realistically dodge is one of the weakest class abilities, but when it's that overwhelmingly much there is no question that it should not be working this way.

                            • Problem is how dodge removes aim assist. That is what makes dodge good. Other than that mobility is a bit overrated. Also for titans they got the short end of the stick since barricade comes out slow, grenades go around them, and resilience past level 5 starts being redundant.

                            • Here's the issue: the premise of hunters is that they are MOBILE Here's the other issue: the premise of warlocks and titans do not revolve around being MOBILE Here's the final issue: there's no logical explanation for why warlocks and titans would get their class ability from being MOBILE You kinda get this now? All the class abilities are different, and I think the various cooldowns shouldn't be argued about. Traction and lightweight weapons affect mobility and it just so happens that mobility is the class cooldown of hunters. If there was a recovery version of traction called Band-Aids and a frame called Med-Kit Included that benefitted the class ability of warlocks I wouldn't care, in fact that would make me happy because I'd be able to run perfect triple 100s, not DS modified 100s.

You are so full of shit. Also just realized, your stats are worse than mine, that takes some work to be that bad. Im one of the lowest ranked players on destiny tracker. Should try this "buff" sometime on a hunter, and stare in awe when the warlock running steps or titan running dunemarchers pulls away from you in a sprint race while wearing stompees.

                                  • Warlocks have it easy. Basically every competent player in the game runs at a minimum 9 recovery. Most go for 10. Recovery is the most valuable stat in game and it is tied to warlock class ability cool down (titans get shafted in this regard because resilience sucks in PvP mostly) And warlocks can traverse the map faster with lower mobility... freeing up points to drop in to strength or discipline... Then factor in the 6 second cool down double dodge that grants insane movement speed ? Lol IMO traction is FINE how it is. Sure it benefits hunters the most, but like I mentioned above, warlocks have it easiest in terms of class ability and titans get spat on by the system. So why complain about traction?
