Light (level) doesn't matter and it should

Bungie, you need to actually make your light level matter. As it is now its fake. The only time light level matters is when its against you. I shouldn't be getting 3 shot by a enemy that is light level 750 when I am light level 1068. I've come to a conclusion and I don't know if its on purpose or not but you have us grinding for light but for what? It means nothing to be high light level. While grinding to get pinnacle cap I thought to myself "Why am I doing this? I get 3 shot by a enemy who is hundreds of light lower than me what is 10 more light level gonna do for me?" If you actually think about it your game has no end game content. Sure you got the raids that are heavily mechanic based am honestly aren't that fun. Once you have done the raid there is no reason to play this game. Outside of a single activity there is nothing to do in this game at max level there is no purpose. Its BORING! (PVP is a joke and is even more trash) Gear means nothing, sure you can get gear with stats you like but for what? It will just be sunset later and be useless. I am still using the same gear i have had since 3 seasons ago because it serves the same purpose as anything else. I for one have just about had it with Destiny, you've been dangling this carrot in front of our faces and for awhile we've been chasing after it but I think I'm not the only one who is opening our eyes and looking around and seeing this game for the trash it is. If there isn't a significant change to how this games light mechanic plays you'll have lost another customer.

  • Personally,I think it should be removed entirely. Add a level to get access to skills and such. But better gear should make you better. Not light. Just because my light goes up shouldn’t mean my blue gear keeps me alive just as well with big enemies as a purple. I should be weaker if anything. But that doesn’t reflect in the gear. This is also an issue with seasons. Your gear now will be obsolete on next season. So.. why bother if every season makes your current gear..not great. Hell I can still “use” preseason gear for raids. But having that extra perk on my gear for a certain season makes it pointless when seasons move on.

  • Light level should be removed from gear and shouldn't be a reward for completing activities. Once you reach max light level there is no reason to complete most activities or challenges.

    • Light level is more like a checkpoint to do harder stuff, honestly they should raise that sucker up high for modes like trials to make it harder to play for all those fake accounts.

    • Like the old excuse the Bungo detractors always wield says [i]You just want to 1 shot everything[/i] I don't understand why being able to complete EP, a dungeon or endgame activities that are not raids WITHOUT having to tryhard them but instead due your light level grind working in your favour is such a problem, you worked for it and have an investment of time, effort and even failure/success Like we will ever know 🙄

          • It's a shared world shooter....one hitting everything and being invincible would be boring for a) the players during adventures/public events which take place in public places and b) for the overpowered player itself who runs around, being invincible and soon after 2 hours starts questioning the point and meaning of patrol areas You can one or two hit most enemies in patrols with an endgame character already with headshots, except for public event bosses and a few VIPs. Also regular enemies need several hits, weaker even can take up to a minute to kill you, even if you stand still. So I don't really know what you are asking for. The game shouldn't be a braindead move just because you are running around with an OP guardian in a beginners area. It has nothing to do with "powerful". It's simply a gameplay design decision, taken out of any lore logic beause every game does that and it would be boring for stated reasons above. And the designers obviously thought that as well. Games don't need to follow a 100% logic based on their lore, story or world. Doesn't matter if we slayed gods or are powerlevel 10XX. Gameplay comes before anything else and needs to be somehow entertaining. In a shared world shooter this counts for all players, not just you.

            • The progression systems: - Milestone - Powerful - Pinnacle All need to be loaded onto a catapult and be launched into the sun where it can burn for all eternity. Leaving the void to be filled with a traditional EXP and Levelling system, that wholly respects players time.

              As much as people hated being forever 29 back in D1 I actually preferred when you capped out at a lower level than the hardest activity. I think you should do way more damage to pve enemies in patrols as max light, not insta killing but not feeling like you're on the same level as those patrol enemies, and you shouldn't be able to level up higher than the current highest raid. Raids should be hard to complete not strictly from the mechanic side of the raids but enemies within the raid should also be kicking your ass. Unfortunately with the artifact levels I don't think we will ever have that level of difficulty from activities anymore unless you scuff your load out to be a lower light but in a game where you're constantly optimizing to perform the best you can I don't see anyone willingly doing that.

              • The problem with Light is that the only benefit to being overleveled is solely in PvP endgame. In PvE it exists solely to be a stopgate for activities (and there are plenty of ways to stopgate it besides light). Honestly you could straight up remove light in PvE and a vast majority of activities wouldn't have changed from their initial difficulty.

                    ALL light level is is a key to unlock the door into the ‘content’ Need to be “𝑥” power level to enter GM Nightfall, compete with chance etc But any higher than the content & it just equalises the difficulty Adding 7 variable numbers to each armour piece has increased the RNG by [b]twelfty[/b] [b]gazillion[/b] And 7.6177348e+85 Hamster Miles Infected with Scarabitis

                  • It's because when you enter an activity that is 750, your power drops to that. Which I think is stupid. It's makes getting to 1060 pointless. Even in raids, when it is a 1020 activity or whatever and you're 40 power over it, it won't matter and you'll be brought down. Power level should matter in this regard. If I'm that powerful then it should reflect that by my damage output and resistance. On the obverse, when an enemy is 30+ levels higher than you, you either do very little damage or their immune to you completely.. kind of a contradiction.

                  • they gotta make different activities/planets have tougher enemies, NOT just universal 750 with far out endgame activitys at a random near cap light level it'd really help the feeling of progression among other things

                      • Play with friends no matter their light level and have the same kind of challenge/ linear curve nonsense ruined it. If your friend doesn't have enough light, help them get stronger.

                        • Destiny is at a point where Power literally cannot be changed to make it actually matter I feel like. It's this or get rid of it. They don't want over leveling to the point things get oneshot, yet want a leveling system that would kinda reach that point realistically. It doesn't work.
