They did Enhancement cores on purpose two years ago. They did the Milestone system on purpose. They did the Pinnacle system on purpose. They did Forever-29 back in Destiny 1 on purpose. ....and that's just for **starters** This was a bug, but Bungie's Investment Team has NOT earned the benefit of the doubt because they have done NUMEROUS things just like this....on purpose...in the past. Which is why Cozmo came here to reply. If it were a baseless accusation, he would have ignored it.

 • Well, whether it was intentional or not, they’ve addressed it pretty swiftly. Gotta give them credit for that!

 • I think you misunderstand the difference between features and intended implementations verses unintended outcomes and bugs from what they promised. And what do you even mean this being reasonable just because cosmo responded. He responded because you complained about a small drop rate, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that what you said the least thought out response to the issue. Cosmo responded because you and a ton of others don’t understand the situation. Do you even know the process of how things are developed. Your view is the most basic assumption anyone could make. I’ve seen though a lot of my experience through work and costumer service that the customer is almost never right. These people have to deal with idiots complaining all day when in all honesty they don’t know what they what. There that’s my response, as will I not respond anymore after this because I value my time to a certain degree. And although this painted you in a negative light, have a good day.

 • How about throttling xp and all the other things they have purposefully done to stretch play time to borderline illegal lengths

 • That was under Activision, I not saying this is a good thing. Bungie is just pushing crap out there without play testing it. Even before they dropped it they had said it would drop more than umberal engrams.

 •
I think you misunderstand the difference between features and intended implementations verses unintended outcomes and bugs from what they promised.
Actually I make my living understanding that difference where they pertain to other systems. Thank you. The difference is that I've been playing this game for 6 years, and have watched how Bungie has responded to changes in the game and in player sentiment over that time. Plus I understand many of the psychological principles that go into game design at this level, and I know that what you are dismissing as "bugs" are in fact FEATURES. Lets take the Milestone system for example. This RNG-based progression system was introduced in its current form during Warmind. A period in teh game when there were still fixed weapon rolls, and cosmetic armor. The game had almost NO ability to generate loot that was worth pursuing...and so Bungie was doling it out with an eyedropper. With either long structured grind....or super low drop rates. Before that, Bungie had a progession system where you were free to play any part of the game you wanted, and the game would PREDICTABLY progress you a tiny amount (Smart loot). Bungie had a problem they needed a solution for. "How do you get players to grind for long periods of time at a game that has few true rewards to offer". In walks "Classical Conditioning with partial/intermittent reinforcement". That is a psychological principle for Behaviorism. Its notable because it plays a role in addictive behavior, in how abusers bond their victims to them, and how totalitarian regimes "re-eductate" (break) enemies and dissidents. In short, humans will work harder to get a reward that is unpredictable and inconsistently offered when its been halted, than they will to obtain a reward that is predictable and consistenlty offeredn when its been halted. The Milestone system was set up in PRECISELY the right way to fix Bungie's problems, and to exploit the player. By BREAKING the fundamental rule of RPGs that progression in the game is an investment process. You predictably progress your character in proportion to the time you spend playing, and the difficulty of the content you clear. (Predictable reward, consistently given....experience points.) But what the Milestone system did was turn progression into a process where you basically GAMBLE your time, and HOPE the game spits out somethign that will progress your character. By LIMITING the activties that can actually progress your character. FORCING you to have to interact with the whole game in order to progress in a reasonable manner. BUUUUTT.......if you get the wrong kind of item drop, you lose. You don't actually progress. Try again. I was stuck for three weeks once because I got NOTHING but kinetic weapons and BOOTS as my powerful drops. (Unpredictable reward, inconsistently given....RNG progression). I am not naive enough to fall for the notion that this was an accident. And that that this "accident" **just** happen to organize itself in a way that would promote compulsive, addictive play for scant rewards....and **just** happened to route players through the game in ways that Bungie had no more legimate ways to accomplish. I'm also not naive enough to fall for the notion that Bungie **just** can't seem to get rid of this system despite the fact of 2 years of BITTER complaints about it form players....and the fact that the player base is angry, cynical and on the verge of EXHAUSTION because of 2 years of grinding for paper-thin rewards. This was not an accident. This was done INTENTIONALLY to try to keep players bonded to the game in an exploitative fashion. Which is why I said that Bungie has not EARNED the right to a benefit of the doubt regarding their motives in a situation like this.
