I’m pretty pleased some old stuffs getting left in the past. Mountaintop, recluse specifically. In pvp mt is just obnoxious and in pve it’s a main stage weapon that does the job of a special better then just about everything else although in pvp it’s more spike grenades on grenade launchers that’s obnoxious and will be more apparent once mt is gone. Old stuff isn’t being removed from our inventory’s but I get the frustration but the way I see it is this, I enjoy the grind and the moment when a god roll I want drops and without sunsetting that’s completely gone for me. Sunsetting revives that excitement for me and while I feel pretty alone with that mindset I doubt people take that into consideration. It’s a looter shooter where the loots mostly irrelevant. End game guns in the latest dungeon are completely meaningless like I got god rolls but there’s zero chance I’ll ever touch them over existing stuff. Tl;dr looter shooter where the loot isn’t exciting. Sunsetting is a solution that respects people’s time investment for the most part and let’s bungie redo the perk pools without nerfs

  • Respects people's time investment??!!! Oh Lord, dumbest of all comments.... Listen, Planned Obsolescence ISN'T SANDBOX BALANCING. MT isn't being removed from ANY PvP activity save Trials and IB. If it was being fairly addressed they would nerf it across the board. And they have just released and equally effective new GL as heir apparent (not speaking if the Machinegun of that name...). This is just reissuing content putting players on a player hamsterwheel that you're deluding yourself is sandbox balancing.

  • They’ve made some positive changes since departing from activision it’s just been insanely slow. I enjoy the game more now then I did with activision so I’m on the side where I trust that I’ll enjoy what the game becomes. But I disagree about mt. Personally I’m fine with it being needed hard but the overwhelming majority or players hate when something they spent time grinding for gets nerfed. They can’t remove it or nerf it and adding something better doesn’t fix the issue so leaving it in the past will slowly remove it from people’s inventories, look at the taken king for an example. They’ve got some hard choices to make and every choice pisses people off. They tried some things to get players off of the same guns and it went over most players heads. It isn’t a perfect t solution but it does address the issue if they don’t make us regrows everything and yeah not off to a great start but beyond light is where we really see everything and it costs players nothing to watch a YouTube video talking about it after launch so yeah

  • Didn't you read what I said? It isn't removed, Sunsetting isn't sandbox balancing. They've just released EQUALLY powerful brand new GL. Planned Obsolescence serves the company at the expense of players. Now EVERYONE is running the exact same OP sword build in PvE, whereas before it was the players choice.

  • Sun setting will only work effectively if their new and interesting stuff to chase not reissue gear which is what I’ve seen people afraid of happening

  • Sunsetting doesn't guarantee interesting loot That's the problem, it's a non-solution to a problem not everyone has

  • That’s fair but I think the general outcome of sunsetting will benefit the game more then it’ll hurt it

All signs and the general reality of Destiny point towards and the opposite, but you're free to think what you will

  • I disagree. Bungies tried making outlaw/kill clip style weapons weaker without directly ruining our god rolls. They tried interesting and powerful perks as well as the warmind cells which are hands down the most overpowered weapons we’ve ever had while not making the guns important like it’s genius and no one really cared. Nerfing gear will just tilt everyone so I don’t really see a great option to achieve their goal without pissing everyone off. Sunsetting respects our time investment to a point while letting the game move forward. Let the past be the past and the gear going forward be what bungie wants it to be. I’m willing to see how it goes and what they want to give us because a lot of things around the guns have improved drastically just very slowly so maybe this change will have something fun in store too

  • I agree. PVP is plagued by god weapons like you just mentioned. That's not really good especially with other problems in the case of PVP, like cheating. This is mainly a PC problem, but still a problem. Sunsetting has it's perks and it's downfalls, but in some ways, it could be nice. Many weapons will be forgotten, perfectly fine. Some people will miss the opportunity of acquiring said items, but eventually they will comeback like BRAZACK mentioned. Thanks for chippin' in.
