Bungie......Why Are You Afraid of Generosity???
Answer: Players have complained in the past that there is "nothing to do" or "I have nothing to grind for" & some are now as well. This is always going to be a problem...

 • ...and this is the WRONG answer to that problem. Blizzard's "Loot 2.0" is considered the industry standard for loot system design. One of the foundational principles that they realized in overhauling vanilla Diablo 3 is. 1. You have to be generous in rewarding player time investment. Generous rewards INCREASE player engagement. They don't diminish it. People go from "I want A version of that gear piece" to " I want the best version of that gear piece." 2. You aren't going to stop people from leaving the game. They'll either get what they want....and then leave. Or they'll fail to get what they want, and then finally leave the game in frustration. One player leaves happy....and will come back when there are new things to do. The other leaves angry...and will likely not come back and will bad mouth the game to others. So dragging out the grind artificially in an effort to keep a few hardcore players with more time than money occupied is a bad business (and game design) strategy.

 • Entirely missed my point but it's fine.

 • Didn't miss it. There are always going to be people who are looking for a game that is a bottomless time sink, and will always complain that the "game is too small" and there is "not enough to do." Unless you're World of Warcraft or Warframe, you are NEVER going to make those people happy..... ....and the only reason those games manage it is because there are years and years of back content for those people get lost in. Trying to satisfy those people with a game like Destiny is a Fool's Errand.
