Answer?
Quest progression can be straight up BULLSHIT at times.
300 sniper kills for revoker, 400 scout kills for Randy's, God only knows how many GL double kills for Mountaintop, Last Word, Thorn, all of these quests are what makes Momentum control viable as a farming mode. Because NOBODY wants to waste away for days even WEEKS on end doing this crap in any other gamemode.
So the next time you all make a new Ritual/Exotic quest, Think to yourselves "Would they have preferred to do this in Momentum?" If the answer is yes, Maybe dial the prog requirements back a bit
Thanks for coming to my TedEX talk

Also because the momentum style game mode is just more fast pace and more fun then bland old control NGL, Its the one game mode where almost any weapon is as viable as the regular meta. And based off of that it makes pvp more of an activity that you can just go in and just play with whatever you want. Technically you can do that already in regular pvp but right now. But then bungie is just gonna stick in the no fun allowed sign into the ground.

1 ReplyHow about we keep all modes and the player decides what they wanna load in? It’s a pretty standard across all PVP shooters.

Dude I missed the FOMO period on a couple exotics and from what google tells me there’s 2 exotic catalyst quests that want you to run 400 of the strike/crucible/gambit variety. I would count on things getting worse since they seem to have taken the proactive approach to increasing grinding player engagement the longer d2 goes along. I find it strange that I enjoyed a grind in d1 and find the one on d2 to be sad and not worth the time they want you to invest.

Never grinding out pinnacles/rituals again since they will be sunsetted.

1 ReplyMaybe I am dumb, but when did they say they were removing it because is a "farming mode." In the TWAB where they said they were being put away they specifically said they would be brought back in year 4. Given how much of the game they are reworking at the moment, it is entirely possible that they want to tweak the mode along with scorched (also being removed until year 4). Not everything is an intentional effort to inconvenience you.

2 RepliesRegardless of quest steps, Momentum Control is an awful game mode that needs to go. It has zero redeeming qualities, it encourages people to play badly. If you need to complete a quest, do it like everyone else and do it in control or more practically, a kill lobby. #obvioussarcasmisobvious All jokes aside, I get where you are coming from, but Momentum Control is just the worst.

12 RepliesI don’t understand why so many of you have a hard time understanding how pinnacle weapons (as well as exotic catalyst to those of you in the comments) work. You expect to be able to get one of the best items in the game, that is supposed to be difficult to obtain, in a few matches. Why are you so entitled that you only need to play a few hours to get everything in the game you want?
-
I think part of their problem is they are removing all the fun modes which causes a lot of toxicity in the community since pvp is overwhelmingly competitive. Even looking at D1 they had so much variety in pvp, most of which taken straight from halo. Then at launch you had just a few basic modes and comp. Then they added trials, then removed trials, then added fun modes and now we are back to core modes plus comp and trials. I like momentum just because it reminds me of swat from halo and I used to enjoy that mode a lot. Same for rift, multy team, and armored assault.

22 RepliesYour not wrong but people like me have been fighting to get quest objectives reduced and placed in pve only so pvp is not required. Bungie doesn’t listen and won’t listen as long as the people who are still playing are playing the game and not complaining. I encourage players to stop playing so bungie is forced to fix there game and realize they have been wrong. If people refuse to stop playing then they are doing a disservice to the community and the game by continuing to play.

8 Repliesthese ritual/pinnacle quest need to go. - people were throwing gambit matches because they were using bows for hush - strikes would take 2x as long because everyone uses fighting lion for wendigo - crucible team mates throwing because they were using triple GL and camped heavy these quest are play flow disruptive and must ruin the experience -

Well said.

13 RepliesEdited by Odd Ball M4AE4: 10/7/2020 4:03:38 PMAnnnnd our reward for taking the time to grind out those kills (whether in Momentum or not) is that your gun gets tossed in the can every year. Good game design, Bungo. I reiderate my point with the drop of the new weapons trailer: No point to get hyped for new guns if they (and the time put into obtaining them) will be tossed in the bin.

I just like Momentum for being what it is, so much more fun to play than reg Crucible, I mean we have Hardcore in CoD which is the best so why not for Destiney but is it going away with the new DLC?? I hope not.

4 RepliesSolution - keep Momentum, but do not progress the quests there.

I hate having to do PVP because 1 part of the quest only allows progress from PVP, Momentum Control eased that pain a huge bit, I would have never finished Witherhoard catalyst quest without that mode.

1 ReplyThey’re removing Momentum Control because it has essentially zero population, not because “oh no the players can farm”. I’d be surprised if more than 100 players are in that playlist whenever it’s active.

12 RepliesHave we all forgotten Momentum is coming back in the future?

Big upvote on this one

1 ReplyWait, it’s being removed? Source?

If you didn’t do the OG MT quest, do you even know what the grind is?
-
2 RepliesRitual objectives have changed. There will only be 1 ritual weapon each season now. And you can choose any type of game mode you can earn it in. It doesn’t have to be the crucible.

3 RepliesOh yeah and think that EVERY SINGLE PVP CATALYST is 200-250 kills, some requiring headshots which takes forever. (I came to realize how boring it was a I went through finishing every catalyst, only got mida, jade rabbit, rat king(sighh, friends) and worldline left. Still am missing sleeper, telesto, prometheus lens and prospector for some reason
