How do I remove a exotic catalyst?

I equipped the vigilance wing catalyst and tried it out and didn't like how the weapon felt with the catalyst. So i tried to delete the weapon, and reacquire it from my collections. However, whenever I try to reacquire it from my collections, it comes with the catalyst on it already. Is there any way to delete the catalyst, or to reacquire the weapon without the catalyst?

  • Delete it, pull a new one from collections

  • Hey there! Unfortunately, no. Once you apply the catalyst into the weapon, it is stuck there.

  • Try pulling a copy from your collections while you're using a different character to the one who completed and applied it initially. I've had to re-apply a few catalysts to weapons pulled from collections (Bad Juju and Izanagi's Burden are two for sure), and the only thing I can think of was I pulled them on my Hunter and Warlock, while it was my Titan who had been the one to complete and apply the catalysts initially. If that works you can hopefully trade it to a different character without the catalyst suddenly applying.

You can still use V Wing in pre-catalyst mode. This will not remove the catalyst, but will prevent it from firing automatically: Instead of holding down the button, lift your finger and it will not engage full-auto mode. I know this sounds sarcastic, but that's not the intention. Sometimes full auto does hinder the weapons ability to defeat an enemy, especially at long range. So I personally fire controlled bursts at long range, but have found full auto to be extremely effective at close/mid range after some practice.
