So why do trace rifles use Special ammo?
Trace rifles are incredibly unused in both pvp and pve (besides the prismatic inferno event that happened in y1 with the Prometheus lens) imo it's because it uses special ammo. 50 ammo in a mag in pvp and ammo is hard to get without the right mods in pve so using it won't get you very far and there's always better special weapons to use and double special isn't the greatest idea. There is only one thing that needs a change, Traces rifles would probably be used more often if it used primary ammo
[b]EDIT:[/b] Divinity is an exception, we'll all be screwed if that thing used primary
[b]EDIT 2:[/b]before you say that trace rifles have no recoil and have a lot of range, damage fall off and recoil is very similar to your normal everyday 600rpm auto. Also trace rifles have very little reserves, you got like 500 ammo overall (idk about divinity) without any mods and since special ammo drops every now and then (the ammo finder mod dosen't help much) you'll run out ammo before you can get that ammo back from getting kills
[b]EDIT 3:[/b]To those who disagreed with me, my point still stands and is very valid because there is no mods for trace rifle ammo how tf will i be able to normally use a trace rifle if ammo doesn't drop for it

4 RepliesYou will get more special ammo with the ammo finder mods. If you don't have ammo finder mod equipped, does not mean that you will not get any special ammo, instead it means that you will not have the change after killing to have the ammo finder buff triggered that gives you special ammo bricks on kills for the duration of this buff.

They definitely kill faster than autos...they should get buffed in my opinion. They can feel kinda weak at times

Because they deal solid damage in the range of most other weapons using special ammo. Just because their DPS doesn't cauz a high instant damage like a shotgun or sniper, doesn't mean they are weak or on the same level as a primary.

As much as I would love to see trace rifles use primary ammo, the boards would all have little tummy aches over it. Can't have diversity when all people do is cry their lil hearts out.

9 RepliesBecause they kill in the same time frame as fusion rifles. And anyone who tries to stand up to one with a primary weapon is going to get absolutely melted if the trace rifle user knows what they're doing.

I know for a while that void exotic one (can't think of the name) had a ridiculous ttk but they should have and could have just adjusted the ttk or stability or range instead. You can kill like 1 and a half people with the amount of ammo they spawn you with on trace rifles lol

Disagree. Ammo is easy to manage. A single special ammo mod is all you need. Go into a fight with full ammo and watch how it litters the ground. Spend only as much as you can replace before the battle is over. The idea is to manage you ammo, not blow it all willy-nilly.

4 RepliesI just think the kick on them is a bit extreme sometimes. Also I think coldheart should get a rework as one of it's perks literally just states the fact that it is indeed a trace rifle.

The special ammo is what is stopping me from rolling a shotgun or fusion rifle.
