This is a trend I've actually been aware of for a long time in Destiny, all the way back to the first game. I play solo or with just 1 or 2 other people, and it always feels like if I stay in the same lobby in back to back games, my wins and losses flip flop back and forth with each game. Only time I've seen this change is if I back out of the lobby and find a new one entirely.
I feel like what is happening between rounds is the game shuffles players between teams to make the next game more "balanced". I've seen other games do this. It isn't the worst system but it is something I feel like I don't see mentioned really.
This might not be apparent if you play in a fully stacked team, which I really never do, so I can't comment on that.

It’s cbmm, but if you’re decent to high elo the lobby balancer will put all of the special kids on your team.

Edited by Sinisis: 10/3/2020 12:54:13 PMIt's because of a gaming paradigm called "50/50 win/loss ratio". Most pvp games have it. It matches you with teams where you literally have a statistical odds of losing by up to 90% based or vice versa. This is to incentivize you to keep playing. From a psychological standpoint, if you won all the time, you'd get bored quickly and find it unchallenging. You'd then stop playing. If you lost all the time, you'd lose hope, feel discouraged and quit. This win ratio is implemented in gaming to keep the balance between hope and hopelessness. The only way to reasonably overcome this is to play with good players you know and can communicate with. Folks that always play in stacks tend to do better. Some players have already proven this to be true. YouTube "50 50 win ratio destiny 2" and see for yourself.

You lose a match that should obviously have been mercied or were mercied 6 times in a row. Two of those times you joined a match in progress that was obviously heading towards a mercy. Bungie: I sleep. You somehow manage to win a match by a decent margin, not some stomp, and it didn't feel as shitty as IB usually does. Bungie: We're breaking up those teams to find a better match. Also the better match will be that exact same stack vs you and new, worse teammates.

1 ReplyYes and always lose the first game. Notice that if you play more than 4 or 5 you tend to win more also. That could just be coincidence though.
-
God I wish I just loose every game
-
Yeah it's a mechanic

1 ReplyIf you recall in D1 the iron Banner would reward you with an iron Medallion if you lost a match. This Medallion would give you a buff and you could collect up to 5 of them which would make you look like a super sweat in your sixth match LOL the ability to manipulate the outcome of matches was proven then. Now they just do everything under the hood

25 RepliesNo 50/50 win ratio like some claim. Bungie already confirmed it would be impossible to code. I play a fair share of Crucible and can absolutely tell you I lose more than I win. I am probably about 40% win ratio life time.

To mercy kill? Or to get mercy killed?
flip a coin
More like I win one and lose two.
-
Generally I lose more matches than I win.

For me, I think it's Win,Lose,Win,Win,Win repeat. Good days and bad days 🤷

Edited by LemTheValiant: 10/1/2020 1:33:22 PMIt's as you say. Unless there's a lopsided victory, lobbies stay the same aside from players who choose to leave. The teams are rebalanced before every match. In your case, this may have resulted in a 50% win ratio, but Bungie is not deliberately forcing that. I think in my recent play, it's been more of a 40/60 win-loss, but I haven't actually checked my history.

1 ReplyNot true, at least not for me. I've played 16 iron banner games and won 3. Feels bad man.

It's funny because your game history disagrees with you 😂

I am woefully crap at pvp and, was carried to loads of consecutive wins last night

3 RepliesMy clan and I had this happen. We whipped the other team so hard that one guy got a 14 k/d ratio for that match, was subsequently reported (but not banned), and also we mercy ruled them. The next match lost by like three points.

We have seen em shoot the gay ass uldren tho wich is more than pleasing!
