How do I remove the xbox account that auto linked itself from an email I was signed in.
I wanted to link my XBL account for when PSN servers go down.
However the account its linked me to is MushroomCar8930 which is not my account.
I cant authenticate it I just need to delete it.
The message says...
"Authenticate to Cross Save
In order to Cross Save your accounts, you must verify that they are, in fact, yours."
Clearly its not mine so I need to have it removed.

In order to unlink an account, you must be able to authenticate it, which means you must be able to log into it. As you state that the XBL ID was linked from your cookies, your best option is to speak with other people that use your internet browser to find the one that owns the account so they can log in and remove it. This will save you a lot of trouble and let you keep your current Bungie.net profile. If you are unable to gain access to the XBL account, then you will not be able to unlink it from your current Bungie.net profile. If you're trying to set up Cross-Save, then your only option will be to create a new Bungie.net profile and then unlink/relink the accounts you actually want to that new Bungie.net profile. Just keep in mind that if you go with the new Bungie.net profile, you will lose access to the code-granted bonuses you've redeemed on Bungie.net because those are tied to your current Bungie.net profile. You can see what you'll lose here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/Codes .

One wonders how it got linked in the first place...

Bungie cannot link or unlink accounts on players' behalf for security reasons. To unlink an account you need to click on your account avatar in the top right of the website, then click Settings, then click on Accounts and Linking. Click the red Unlink button next to the XBox account in question, and enter that account's log in credentials to validate the unlink.
