SBMM works against you if you play with friends who are skilled and causes all sorts of performance issues.

My experience has been that a person's friend list becomes populated with others within a range of similar skill because of two reasons. 1- SB matchmaking with high skilled friends puts you in games with other high skilled opponents. 2- Players have less fun when they don't often get the ball (make a significant contribution to the team score).
