Before I get swarmed, hear me out
Back in seasons nine and ten, we had classic mix
Classic mix was cbmm, so we were able to pick and choose what matchmaking to use.
Classic mix showed that, in a normal pvp environment, you can have both cbmm and sbmm in casual play.
But it also showed that cbmm had just as many flaws as sbmm, maybe more. Being populated by a lot of high level players who didn’t like long waits, it was an endless sweat fest when an average player like myself went to play it.
So can classic mix just become sbmm so it
A). Doesn’t become obsolete
B). This is literally the compromise, so every one will be kinda happy

So you don't like playing players better than you? * Snowflake alert* ❄

1 Replyif you like SBMM in video games that say's a lot about you. You have no drive, no confidence, no resilience, and no work ethic and probably wont make it anywhere in life.

4 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 9/16/2020 6:48:57 PMUnfortunately there is no compromise on this. The problem here is that you have two factions of pvp players with incompatible definitions of fun. One group (SBMM) defines it as getting to play competitive matches and test their ability against players of their own skill level and grow in that ability while having fun doing so. (This is how sports and other competitive pursuits work). Another group —-despite their protests about mm times and connection quality—-define it as being able to dominate weaker players. Basically pubstomp/stat-farm. CBMM is necessary for this, because it gives strong players a steady parade of weaker player to play against. The problem is that you can’t have both. Because SBMM gives the most enjoyable experience to the largest number of players. So if you give the player base a choice, most people choose the SBMM playlist. Which means that only the high skill players looking to stat farm show up to the CBMM list...and they don’t get the experience they are looking for. One which basically requires that CBMM be the only option. The problem there is that the experience it gives the average player is so miserable, that many stop playing. Which is why, whenever Bungie does this, pvp daily engagement drops to franchise lows which is about 350k players a day. Unfortunately there is no compromise here and Bungie needs to decide what kind of game they want to make and who are they making it for. If Bungie were smart they’d learn from the repeated failures of the Trials playlist and go with SBMM on most play forms and only go with CBMM on Stadia. (Player numbers too low to support anything else.)

4 RepliesSBMM should only be in Strikes, Menagerie, upcoming PvE match-made activities, etc. Good players are genuinely tired of carrying dead weight.

1 ReplySbmm for trash players, better title

Should, should be an option when/if the talked about cross play between Xbox and PlayStation comes with the next gen consoles. Would have a larger pool of players to pull from then.

34 RepliesEdited by Wraith: 9/15/2020 6:14:23 PMYou’d literally be putting the matchmaking the exact same as it was last season. Just control and classic mix would change places. It would be a lag fest all over again and there would be no where to go to find a Normal mach ( low population cbmm with lots of lag and long q times because players would hide in sbmm) and sbmm would become a lag fest with also long q times for the higher tier players. The same problems would arise and the game would suck again. No thanks. Just play against everyone like it should be. Stop trying to get protected all the time. It makes you look like a glass cannon.

3 RepliesThe title of this thread is a contradiction.

8 RepliesCause when we did have 2 lists so very few ppl played Classic. This diluted the player pool even further. Resulting in longer que times.. If they did that again we would see the same results. Everyone in SBMM except a few who would be in CBMM and losing it over playing the same ppl over and over. Sadly those few ppl have the loudest voices.
