It honestly feels like there’s only one good skill tree for warlocks in PVP. For every arc tree, the movement is awful. You can’t compete with hunters dodging every ten seconds and going invisible, or getting their health back with wormhusk. Bungie obviously killed middle tree void walker when they neutered HH supernova. Both top tree and bottom nova bombs have potential, but they are held back by the lackluster super. I’m not expecting to get 5-6 kills, but it’s pathetic when a golden gun can pop my nova bomb, or an arc staff can block it like it’s nothing.

3 RepliesEdited by DreadMew: 9/9/2020 9:08:23 AMid love to see lance and shatter return, slovabomb can kiss my ass
-
I only use it for shutdown or the odd multi, overcharged nades I also like, charged axions to chuck into a 2 v1 situation or finish off weak enemies trying to hide lol

19 Replies1. Devour is supposed to be a pretty good build for PVP. 2. "Slova Bomb" is really only useful as a panic button/shutdown super. Its tracking is too easy for Hunters to spoof (dodge) at range. 3. Warlocks have always been in a problem spot in Destiny's PvP. Because Warlocks (in the lore) draw on the Light most directly for their power. So their strength is tied up in their abilities---grenades, rifts, powered melee, supers. But this makes the Crucible "sweaties" mad because they want the Crucible to be a "gun (skill) game". So in making them happy, Warlocks wind up being declawed and defanged. Its not as bad as it was in vanilla D2 when Warlocks got nerfed down to a support class....but Warlocks are still a shadow of what they used to be in PVP. Their grenades used to terrorize the Crucible (making HH supernova look like a bad joke). But now they are such a non-threat that many players don't even bother to get out of the way of firebolts or axion bolts anymore. They either just face tank them.....or dodge and break the tracking (axions). More proof that this shotgun marriage of power-fantasy game in PVE and competitive gun game in PVP isn't working.

4 RepliesTether is the worst super. I remember once laying it down perfectly to trap an enemy. The Titan just slid into the tether and shotgunned me. LOL. This super is so freaking pathetic, it can't even stop a sliding shotgun. It was hilarious.

20 RepliesYour final sentence proves to me one thing. You're not using it correctly. As someone who's been slinging novas since D1 Beta, there are just some things that you only get by experience. If a hunter is popping your nova with his GG, then you've deployed your little ball of anti-sunshine to early and too far away. If they're using their majorette skills to block it, you're aiming at the wrong spot. The slow ball of death making little balls of death is nice and all, but the problem is that it's too vulnerable to interception. HHSN was nerfed because it was too easy to use and was genuinely breaking crucible. Before that they nerfed middle tree for the super being too op. If a hunter comes at you with arc staff, you don't just throw it right at him/her. Hop up, plop it down below and make them come into the death zone if they want the kill. Warlocks have always had to be more creative with super deployment (Pre Nova Warp). In all honesty, Nova's in a good place. Not too powerful which would call down the nerf hammer, not too weak as to negate it ever being picked. With oppressive Darkness, you can get some truly nasty pvp builds that lock down entire sections of the map. TLDR- You're a Warlock, fight like one.

19 RepliesAt least it’s still usable. Tether is THE worst super for PvP
-
1 ReplyHunters aren't allowed to get kills with their supers so it only makes sense they can counter other supers. We won't mention that purple bow monstrositie of a super 😒
-
1 ReplyPreach!!! WTH did Bungie do to Dawnblade? I like everything about that tree except the actual super.
-
1 ReplyI think that one, chaos reach NEEDS more damage resistance, it makes no sense for a super that leaves you almost stationary in air for four seconds, and does tic damage (91 per tic but still) should have less damage resistance than most roaming supers. I do play on console so idk if it feels different on pc. Also the camera angle kinda sucks, The beam covers up a third of your view

1 ReplyEdited by reenry: 9/10/2020 5:54:19 AMPeople who complain about ez mode buttons: but its 2 powerful Not much has changed since D1. Getting picked out and singled nova. But the super is much more rewarding in comp with basically a free counter super.
-
Maybe you're just bad at using a Warlock? I use top tree Voidwalker all the time, and have very little issue with using Novabomb, other than sometimes launching it at the wrong time or place.
-
1 ReplyBruh it's god damn nuke, if you can't get consistent kills with a handheld nuke then the problem isn't in the super itself.
-
Wait you can actually pop or block a nova bomb??? This is news to me lol.
-
I have no problem using it my guy. Movement on arc trees awful? Since when is burst glide stormcaller awful? Yes you can compete, it's not difficult. Understand the hunter mindset by paying attention and/or playing one yourself and you'll find you can do it regularly. How is bottom tree nova bomb lack luster in PvP? Its an instant kill on literally everything that gives full health back and leaves an AOE that can deny an area for a solid five seconds. As for your complaint with golden gun, it does that to every super in the damn game. Its GOLDEN GUN. THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF IT. And...do you not know how to counter middle tree arcstrider?....You bait them into an attack or pop something in front of them at their feet. Like...come on...have you never played a game where an enemy has a shield that requires you to shoot their feet or something to counter them?
-
6 RepliesOh no wormhusk heals 50 health... So does phoenix dive...and overshield nade Devour fully heals...so does rift. So do karnstein armlets. Whine more?
-
1 ReplyEdited by Optic: 9/9/2020 10:06:29 PMExactly. Not to mention they nerfed ionic blink and arc web on top of that. Nova warp is still garbage. Bottom tree nova needs Lance and its so easy to outrun top tree nova. Its just sad.
-
5 RepliesStop whining about non meta. I can play any warlock class and be great. It all comes down to basic skills. Dont rely on abilities to get you all your kills. The abilities are there to supplement the skill. I love top tree nova bomb, it fun as hell. Warlocks should only be using transverse steps with 40 mobility or less to skoot around the map quick. You dont want the extra jump height when trying to warlock skate as the longer your in the air the slower your skating.
-
1 ReplyYou're using it wrong. HHSN btw needed to be sledgehammered.
-
4 RepliesIts not s tier but it’s not bad All supers are situational, and with practice all can be equally deadly.
-
2 RepliesYea I actually very recently found out about hunter can Goldie the -blam!-ing nova, it was a quiet moment.
-
Edited by Interpol89: 9/10/2020 1:57:16 AMI just used HH supernova and apparently the bolts do zero damage if you die after you release the bolts. This happened several times. Is this a bug, or did Bungie really make it unusable on purpose? By the way, I had some success with nova warp because I used astrocyte verse. It’s funny that I need an exotic to make a super viable.
-
I don't know. In my years of Destiny, nova bomb is my go to for Crucible. Too many people have this idea that you HAVE to use supers asap but I think that's inefficient waste. I use it ONLY to counter supers, and capture swarmed points and its AWESOME!
-
1 ReplyJust remember to not forget to shoot your nova bomb. If some stupid hunter is playing sonic, just wait for it to get close enough and self detonate it. I can't explain how many times I would have died to a nova bomb if the enemy just did that, but normally I just strafe jump away as fast as possible and hope it hits a wall.
-
4 Repliesbottom tree should get Shatter from D1.
-
Yes All void supers on warlocks suck a lot.
