Pinnacle gear is the worst RNG ever.
4 weeks strait without a heavy drop of any kind for pinnacle rewards... losing interest in maxing out my power level for the first time to get this ridiculously hard title for grand master strikes.
Shouldn't there be an option for choosing either a weapon or armor for pinnacle rewards? It would make the grind have more direction.
Any thoughts as to why this isn't a viable option?

I completed the nightfall pinnacle last week and some how the pinnacle gear that dropped was 1050 light (was running 1050+ gear), very disappointing.

It’s all about perspective. Bungie Dev team would say it’s the best choke hold mechanism for controlling leveling up in the game and prolong the playtime.

Ever since i started playing the game again back in September 2019. It's been easy at least for me to reach and surpass the power level, i agree that the rng can be frustrated but if it would be too easy then other people would be complaining about not being a challenge and boring. I'd say if things can get neutral for both crying side of gamers then maybe it would work but hey! you cannot please everybody. After all this is a JUST a game, it may piss me off sometimes and i'd be here running my frustrated butt criticizing Bungie about this and that but i like it too much to stay mad forever. When i get bored i switch to Tomb Raider, Death Stranding or Call of Duty until i calm down hehe.

If you could choose between guns or armor it would speed things up. Theres a trick, like doing Dungeons, they only grant armor pinnacles.

1 ReplyIt's not RNG, that's why. Anytime weight is applied to favor anything, like pinnacles which favor duplicates, then that's no longer random.

Ehy Shin. Unfortunately RNG is another issue that Bungie struggled with since Destiny 2 vanilla. However, I don't want to believe that Bungie is actually throttling Pinnacle Rewards as some people are suggesting. The reason is because the Internet already showed to Bungie that such things don't remain unnoticed for too long. This already happened in the past when Bungie -still under the direction of Activision- throttled the EXP from some Activities like Public Events. But this is ancient story; we're talking of Destiny 2 vanilla. At the same time, I can't deny that Pinnacle Rewards need a sort of anti-bad luck protection for those who are actually trying to reach the Max Power Cap possible of Natural 1060. Even If this value is absolutely useless and have no value at all, it is comprensible why certain type of Players want to reach it. Personally speaking, I'd rather have a functional RNG for Exotic and Legendary Drops that prevents duplicates of the same Gear in a row. It is quite frustrating to see 4 Kepri's Horn in a row, then 3 Doomfangs, then 3 Armamentarium and so on.

And I am 1070 Very boring pinnacles are not pinnacles... just bungee throttling leveling up. They don’t care It’s like they took the gas pedal out of a car and you just have to naturally roll to wear you want to go. Bungie - OMG why you punish us. We are the one that buy your broke game idiots. Note: everybody is on vacation at Bungo and they straight don’t give 2 F’s about it.

I would like to see Bungie implement at least one pinnacle source per week that is deterministic (i.e. at least some reduction in RNG), for those times where you get really unlucky with your other pinnacles. Aside from more consistent completion of Master and GM Nightfall: Ordeal, there isn't much reason to "chase" power level so I don't think having one deterministic drop per week would noticeably lessen players' seasonal engagement.

You ungrateful little brat. Don't you know shaders are loot? Do you not see all the rare loot bestowed upon you when you do story missions, strikes and pvp? Just because you are 1075+ and 1050 rare items are useless to you isn't bungie's fault. Now stop texting in the forums and get out there and grind.

same here, been two weeks and all I need is a heavy drop, not getting it. this week I have received all boots for my pinnacles. not sure how to fix this, but I'm sure it will stay as is.

9 RepliesIt’s a straight up lie to says it random. Bungie knows what they did. Getting the same item, for the same slot, over and over again is NOT random. There’s nothing random about. It’s manipulation. It’s done to arbitrarily increase the grind time. Why? Because you have to do something in the game.

Same boat here. I counted 25 1060 drops in my Inventory...none of which are a helmet or a power weapon. To top it off? My raid team and I did Garden last night. Got the boss challenge done after a couple of hours of trying. Get to the end and see both chests. Nothing. Neither chest gave anyone anything except for the fireteam leader. We suspect that the Beetle error we received prior made the lobby/encounter bug and it only counted the fireteam leader as being there...It would have been a shot wt the helmet I need for 1060... Not only is the games RNG and loot pool HORRIBLE for pinnacle drops, the games bugged to all hell. Not fun.

Maxing out your power level doesn't matter. Your powerlevel in GM Ordeal is capped to 1075.

sadly bungie doesn't care that it irritates you they only care that more players had longer /timeplayed because of it, as that directly correlates to increased cash shop micros they intentionally, with full knowledge that it will piss players off, implement these systems to get more money there is just no downside for them, people quit when they get 'done' so bungie tries to prevent you from getting done as much as possible while losing the least amount of players for the highest amount of extra cash shop revenue
