How long does it take for Bungie Support Staff to respond to emails?

So, I'll make it simple, I got banned. No, I'm not a cheater. No, I'm not a hacker. What happened was plain and stupid on my end. I joined an LFG team on Discord, I was planning on doing GoS later that day and so I was prepping. I've been playing Destiny since The Dark Below came out on Destiny 1, so I've played it a lot and have built up a story and legacy for my characters. I haven't done GoS ever, nor have I played the recent seasons a lot. When Beyond Light was announced, I was so excited that I reinstalled my game on Steam. Finally, the story is coming full circle. I got into the server with this guy, he was asking me how long I'd been playing Destiny for and why I hadn't done the raid sooner, since it'd been out for like half a year. I didn't really know the mechanics well and I was just getting back into the swing of things. The dude told me that he had a "Destiny 2 Cheat Sheet" which was a folder full of videos explaining each raid mechanic and strategies for the specific encounters. I was in a rush and decided to just believe the guy. I downloaded the zip file from him and extracted it into a folder. Here's the annoying part. Low and behold, it wasn't full of those. It had 1 .exe file in it labelled Destiny 2 Cheat Sheet. I was skeptical. Then, my game crashes and the guy kicks me from his server. I get confused and load up my game again. Now I'm met with the simplest message ever. "Not so fast! This account has been banned." Then you've got the link for more information about it and whatever. I broke down. 5 years of grinding, running through Raids and strikes on D1, enjoying life on D2, only to lose it all in a matter of 5 minutes. 5. Minutes. I closed the DMs with him since he was telling me how stupid I was and making fun of me for believing him, I took a screenshot before that though and sent it to Bungie Support through the ban appeal system along with pictures of the zip file, folder, and .exe file itself. I just started this account yesterday after that happened since this whole thing is still hitting me hard but I want to get my solstice armour back at least. My girlfriend is heartbroken because she was enjoying watching me play and I was the reason she even started playing the game in general. She also misses my heart shell ghost, the recent Bungie Foundation one, the Empathic Shell I believe it was called. I've been trying my best to get over it but I keep getting this sickly feeling in my stomach over it. I can't just sit here and wait without hope, I need to know whether there's any point carrying on waiting or just forgetting about it all. If anyone knows how long it takes, please, let me know. I know that they don't have to reply either and that just makes it worse, how am I supposed to know if I should keep waiting or not if I don't even get a reply saying that the case has been closed. It still hurts but it's only been a day. This post will probably just get washed away on here, it's the forums after all and practically no one reads them. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe someone from the moderation team or even Bungie Support themselves will see this. Maybe they won't. Who knows. Either way, I needed to write this somewhere just to get it off of my chest. Lesson learned I guess. Don't open files from strangers.

    +1 for uniqueness - 10 for naivety and/or ignorance/stupidity

    • Imagine being this clueless in 2020. Welcome to the internet I guess? I just don't understand the disconnect here. Did you just get online for the first time ever? Sorry for your loss but your account is toast. Live and learn. ☠

To those in the replies, I am being completely truthful. What happened was my own fault, yes, but you must understand that I had no ill intent. All I simply wanted to do was complete the last raid that I needed to do, I'd finished all the others at least once. I've come to terms with losing the account, like I said above it was my own fault for being so stupid. The one thing that I will miss is the veteran dialogue, I'm just praying that there isn't that much in Beyond Light. If you want more proof, here is my old account. https://braytech.org/1/4611686018445345502/2305843009262396902/collections I played on my Hunter mainly since D2 launched on Xbox One and stopped playing after Forsaken. Then I got fully back into it at the start of this season with my Titan and Warlock too. You can check my stats, the only high ones are in Gambit because it's easy to get high stats in, especially with Xenophage.

        • Hey there! The #Help forums are not able to assist with appeals of restrictions or bans. However, there is a process in place for you to appeal your ban or restriction. If you have sent an appeal, that is all you are able to do at this point. Please review the Contact Form: Appeal Ban or Restriction article found here. Please note that, as mentioned in the article, there is no guarantee for a response, nor is there a guarantee that your ban or restriction will be overturned. For more information on Bungie's policy regarding bans and restrictions, please review the policy here.
