The Dreadnaught is too large

Clickbaity title aside, this really only makes sense to me since I made a post years ago on here about whether the Dreadnaught was large enough to affect the orbits of other celestial bodies and it blew up just a little bit And while I realize now that it probably can’t because to be honest Saturn probably overpowers whatever gravitational pull the Dreadnaught has, the Dreadnaught is massive The view of Saturn from Titan allows you to actually see the Dreadnaught as a small little speck in the hole that killed most of the Awoken fleet, and since, as far as I know, you can’t see any of Saturn’s other 70 or so moons from Titan, the Dreadnaught is definitely the size of, like, a moon or maybe even a small planet And yes I realize the skybox of Titan is probably just there for aesthetic since it seems Titan is tidally locked which I don’t think it is, but still Point is that the Dreadnaught is really big and honestly I don’t know how it hasn’t continued to be a problem since you’d expect there to be like a billion hive on there and also seems unwieldy to actually pilot

  • I'm not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed with the Dreadnaught. We were made to believe is was this massive ship and what we got was a relatively small area to explore, now it wasn't Mercury small (COMPLETE waste of time) but it definitely was the smallest area in D1

    • The dreadnought is basically a paradox in of itself because it exists and yet it doesn't. Plus it's not to big at all for a dreadnought... The literally have MOONS that they have as ships so that's 1 thing. And secondly Leviathan. Cough cough I mean discount doomsday machine.

      • I kinda miss the dreadnaught...helping random guardians out when they’re doing the scent chest..or hoovering the court of oryx..it was fun times.

It’s length has been measured using several methods. Occasionally the Dreadnaught seems to be portrayed at different lengths, but the most consistent and accurate measurement found is about 3500 kilometers in length, making it the size of a moon. Considering the paracausal nature of the Dreadnaught, perhaps it doesn’t affect gravity. If it does affect gravity then it’s position in the orbit of Saturn’s ring probably means it wouldn’t affect too much though perhaps it could have an effect on other moons and orbitals. Or maybe not, since it’s just integrated itself in the same orbit as the ring. I don’t really know. I’d also like to mention that the Dreadnaught contains Oryx’s Throne World and is actually larger on the inside. It’s not physically possible, but Oryx didn’t care lol. There was some discussion about the Hive onboard. Yes, there would be tons of them. Countless thousands at least. Guardian teams were sent onboard, attempting to suppress their population, but probably couldn’t do much. And the Hive could certainly survive there. If eating is a problem, we already know they practice cannibalism (Thrall ash is considered a delicacy). And if Sword Logic is an issue, all they have to do is kill each other. That’s something they’ve resorted to often, and Savathûn’s Brood focused on it entirely after the Sisters separated. This doesn’t cause any shrinking population problems either because they reproduce so quickly and they don’t actually need to be constantly killing each other.

        • The area was cool, but I hate the aesthetic. Never liked Hive stuff. Colors are boring and muted.

          • Ye I hate it when I'm walking down the road to the shops, minding my own business and some warlock nova bombs me. Or if I'm on my holiday with the Mrs on Mars and a load of thrall come running at us. It just spoils the holiday tbh.

            • We have left the Dreadnaught and Venus alone for about 2 years. There's bound to be something stirring up on them. I mean just look what happened when we left the Moon alone.

            • The billions of hive on there have probably starved to death

              • Considering the sheer number of Hive we've killed over the years, yeah. It's big. About 3000 km in diameter, I think. That's about as big as a medium sized moon. Maybe we'll see it again. If Savathun is as smart as Eris says, she's not going to leave an asset like that unclaimed for long.

              • It's a small moon. It looks so much smaller than the mood does from earth. So it's not unreasonable. It would look a lot bigger from saturns view tho. But still...
