Hunters can instantly dodge, titans have an animation for entering and exiting their shield deployment. Same with warlocks and their rift deployment.
Ideas:
Warlocks cast both arms out and a rift is placed. Done then and there.
Titans do an almost stand still shoulder charge like move and a shield is instantly and quickly placed.
I do get both warlock and titan abilities linger and last longer per use however I feel it wouldn’t be unbalanced since the recharge time is consistently slower than hunters. I’m not saying hunters are “broken” or that titans and warlocks class abilities suck. Just thought it wouldn’t be a bad thought at least and one that I would imagine many people have thought of already.
Credit: to my friend who a lot more passionately has expressed this to me and we both have had similar ideas for these changes.

Yep, should be as quick as the hunter can dodge.
-
difference is an action or a sustained function.

1 Replythe worse is when you warlocks have the longest animation which you don't gain its benefits until an an entire second later after the long animation is finally done. which locks you into place got forbid there's a texture bounce
-
Yeah, the shield animation is just silly. It’s long and you take too much damage while deploying it. I wish it was more like a quick slamming the shield in to the ground type thing.
-
7 RepliesExcuse you. Could you imagine if a barricade deployed instantly...that is a free win for titan in litterally every encounter. Since barricade does 199 damage in 0.2 second and you cant melee through it . Also...hunter dodge is 11 seconds...titan barricade is 15 seconds on cooldown. That is not that big a difference considering how much better barricade is for litterally any gametype.
-
I dont know how I feel about that, im a warlock main, then play hunter the least. I feel like rifts and barricades are strategically placed and not really comparable to a dodge. Dodge gets you out of trouble quick and thats it, rift and barricade let you hold a position. I think it would be a balance issue, but who knows?
-
2 Repliesid be happy if they just fixed the glitch where you get all the way through the rift animation but the rift doesnt spawn.
-
1 ReplyYes, might make them actually useful during combat. At the very least I think resilience score should affect how quickly they are deployed in addition to decreased cooldown. They should also get a secondary benefit such as a reload or melee recharge. Nothing more or less then a dodge. Would only be fair.
-
2 RepliesTry out a new key bind where it is a press instead of hold for the abilities. It is amazingly fast.👍
-
1 ReplySadly the deploy times for both seem to still be stuck in their year 1 state. Back before the go fast and TTK updates made everything else in the game faster.
-
3 RepliesAs others have said, their duration and team utility make Titan and warlock abilities different from hunters. I do think allowing instant casting on Titans would be a problem in pvp as allowing them to survive a fight they're losing and then be able to safely recover shields would be breaking. Maybe an option to have an immediate cast time at the expense of a shield that only lasts 2 seconds would be a fair equivilent to dodge. I think faster casting for warlocks is probably safer but maybe health starts recovering slowly for a bit before it speeds up to its current rate.
-
I think that in addition to lingering, the reason behind the lower cooldown of Dodge is the fact that it's a very egocentric ability. It benefits the Hunter, and only the Hunter. It doesn't help you revive a team mate, get heavy, capture a zone, protect a flank, block an entrance, buff or heal a teammate, etc. Once you factor in the actual impact of class abilities on the entire team and match direction, the different cooldowns start to make sense.

6 RepliesIf you’re on console change it from hold to double tap. That will significantly cut down your deployment time. Anything faster than that is unnecessary and would only have you complaining more. Imagine if you’re in a gun fight with a titan and they immediately pop a barricade. Not exactly the picture of balance.

2 RepliesEdited by murkypondwater: 8/29/2020 6:18:06 AMKeep the animations, make them much faster. Also give them faster recharge after use, but make it to where your last one is destroyed (if it’s still there) when a new one is deployed.

1 ReplyBump. By a hunter main.
ikr ;)
Edited by Olórin: 8/29/2020 6:00:57 PMMaybe just have the animations quicker and in first person? Something like a charged up grenade animation for a Warlock just slightly different looking with their palm open instead of closed? Or a 'Doctor Strange' summoning animation? And a closed fist animation for Titans? Titan shield could be a tad slower since it's a temporary barrier intended to blanket them from a few extra shots. Just don't have it immediately casted, only a fraction slower than other class abilities. Imo this isn't really a big deal, could be a nice change PvP wise though, only ever rarely see Warlock/Titan abilities utilized in any fast paced game modes so it'll be interested if this were to switch it up a bit.

1 ReplyYes please, I’m killed while casting a barricade and I kill warlocks stuck in rift animations so much
-
Edited by AltYami: 8/29/2020 5:01:29 PMMake Rift/Barricade cast much faster & give them the same cooldown as the Dodge. The Dodge is far more useful anyway & should probably have a longer cooldown than the other two.

5 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 8/29/2020 1:40:47 AMAsking for a faster cast time on barricades/rifts is just asking for problems in PvP, especially Trials. They are not panic buttons. You're supposed to put them down well before you start getting shot at.
-
Perhaps a temporary solution to this that may also solve another problem: rework the Aeon exotics to provide faster cast time to class abilities, which increases based on the number of nearby teammates also wearing Aeon. However, much like all weapons have a "max potential,'" for example, no matter how much reload speed you stack, certain weapons still reload slow...the class abilities will never exceed a minimum cast time that is provided by having a high stat (like having 100 mobility gives dodge every 9 seconds).
-
5 RepliesTalks about hunter dodge every 9 seconds with max mobility, leaves out warlock double dodge every 5 seconds with 0 stat requirements.
-
1 ReplyInstant seems a little much
-
1 ReplyHere's a thought try using barricade and rift as a strategy instead of a panic, they are clearly not meant to be instant as you stated they linger. Titan barricade recharge on 100 res is fast like 18 secs, poor Warlocks on the other hand with 100 rec is like 40ish secs
-
3 RepliesAs a hunter... I agree. They should have faster casting times. However. The reason why the dodge is instant is because... Its a dodge, Hunters are supposed to be maneuverable. Secondly. You are aware Hunters do have a animation that they can be killed in by stuff right? Also, enemies can track you through your invisibility if you are using that subclass for the first second so... Yeah that's not instant.
-
7 RepliesI disagree that we able advocates for faster activation times on abilities that benefit multiple people
-
1 ReplyI always wish the titan barrier was more instant, like a drop shield from Halo (4/5?) (or the bubble shield from Halo 3)
