Redrix Broadsword - Worth grinding for?

Should I spend the next 2 months grinding for the Redrix Broadsword? Is it worth it? Anyone still use it much? In fact I already completed most of the questline several seasons ago but have never completed the 5 valor rank resets. With nothing much to do until the new season arrives, thinking of grinding out some crucible, maybe pursue other questlines and complete some catalysts at the same time.

  • Thanks for all of the comments. Think I'll give it a go. With my current valor, so long as I average approx 130 valor points per day, I should be able to get 5 resets just before 10 November. I'll aim for that to be the bare minimum valor points that I must achieve per day. On weekends and when there are bonus valor weeks I should be able to gain more than that per day. Should be doable.

  • Redrix is pretty fun, especially with the recent pulse buff, but it is being sunset with Beyond Light.

  • I can't really say how it plays in Crucible with the AR meta because it's been a few seasons since I've really played Crucible. When I did, I loved it though. It's pretty good in PvE, but it's being sunset next season, so just depends on what you want it for. If you can use a decent Cold Denial in Crucible, go for it. If not, it's not going to be that different because the perk still requires that first precision kill.

  • I would say its worth it. High Impact Pulse rifles take 5 precision hits to kill instead of 6 this season, which might not see seem amazing, but its a two burst if you headshot, and gives you some sway room if a bullet strayed. Redrix Broadsword is absolutely OP in PVP if you can land your shots. As a casual solo player I know the grind is long as it took me a little over three months to get, and I am in no way particularly great at PVP, but I still find it fun. getting 5 valor resets was what I did at the start of the season as it was giving you a valor boost times 2 for a couple of weeks. Keep grinding if you want it. My advice would be to get it, as its still usable after sunset in regular PVP and you can still use it for strikes if you want to, the only places it won't shine after November will be in raids, trials of osiris, iron banner, and high level nightfalls. Once you have it test it out a little, take it into a strike or public event and focus on getting headshot kills and reloading after so you get a feel for how the perks function, then take it to a 6v6 match and see how you do. Good luck!

  • I absolutely love redrix....have use it for years even when others ragged on the gun. Now since the buffs it’s even better. Plus it will still be viable in 6v6 after this season which is were it’s perk truly shines

  • It's a great gun, do it for the PvP fun, it's a long grind.

  • its actually quite good in regular PvP with the buff that archtype got. 2 taps to the head if you hit all crits. From my experience easy outguns those pesky 600rpm autos since you can stay farther back (console at least). I mean it is something to work towards even though it can't be used in endgame content after this season, but there is a pvp achievement to work on as well from using it. Why I started working on LH this season, on the last step now. Something to do.

  • It’s not too bad, but it’s mostly just a trophy weapon imo

  • The weapon sucks and the sights make it unusable.

  • I’m a completionist so I’ll say yes
