The champions need to go. I’m boycotting any activity that includes them. These things are the most offensive example of bullet sponges.
Edit: Example: Barrier Champion: put a ton of bullets in them until their shield pops. Then shoot down their shield while they are still shooting you, then finish off their health bar.
If you don’t have the right mods, they heal to full health and even with the right mods they can still get a second shield phase to break. Literally a bullet sponge.
Swords: Almost everyone I’ve seen rush a Champion with a sword has died. Some situations you cannot rush with a sword without clearing the entire area first.
We need special weapon mods. Tired of running dual primaries to make sure the angles are covered.

1 ReplyLoL charged with light+ oppressive darkness grenade+ 4th horsemen or sword=dead champion End of Story.
-
You’ve just noticed this now ? I’ve detested them as soon as they arrived.
-
3 RepliesThey’re only sponges when you’re under level.

How about, stop using an auto rifle to do damage? Use a burst damage weapon like a Grenade launcher or a sniper to do a chunk first and force the barrier up, then disable the barrier with your anti barrier (things like GM/M nightfalls may require 2-3 anti barrier users depending on what you’re using), once it’s disabled go back to your burst damage weapon to finish it off.

2 RepliesEdited by Unbreakable Patches: 8/26/2020 7:10:31 PMBullet sponges? If you bring the appropriate mods, they go down easy as hell. Champions are only roadblocks for people who are wholly unprepared.

10 Repliesuse a sword
-
That's their whole point... To slow down your team and work TOGETHER to kill it.
-
1 ReplyThe idea of champions is good. Tying them to seasonal mods and making most exotics pointless vs. champs is where it goes bad.
-
They should make the Champion mods for armor instead so we can select which weapon we want.
-
3 RepliesI like them, they are an alternative to bullet sponges, they have mechanics. They can be stunned, you can get benefits from doing so and they take extra damage. More of these please Bungie
-
10 RepliesThey're not that bad if you're running the right mods. My complaint is that they really limit the loadouts

1 ReplyBullet sponges = Challenging

3 RepliesYour error seems to be in the use of "bullets"! Use a sword.

7 Repliesthey are called champions because they are hard to kill. they are meant to add challenge. you are asking bungie to remove the challenge from the game

1 Reply*falling guillotine goes swoiswoiswoiswoi*

1 Replychampions aren’t an issue. the issue is how restrictive loadouts are. bungie needs to expand the perks to have more on armor and have them on all exotics.
-
7 RepliesI want more champions. Maybe mix them up? Barrier overload champion barrier Unstoppable Elemental Shield Barriers, gotta drop both shields Elemental shield unstoppable/overload, gotta drop the shield before you can stagger Armor champs, gotta shoot the armor off before you can damage Necro champs, they revive recently dead enemies There’s lots of options, we need more. The basic 3 isn’t enough and is starting to get stale.

Champions are fine. They just need some tweaking. 1. The mods need to expand to all weapon types. The current system is very load-out restrictive so people try to bypass the mechanics rather than engage them. 2. Overload Champions need to be tweaked...and given cooldowns on abilities. Especially since the mechanic doesn't translate well to highly mobile and/or "spammy" NPCs (like Fallen Captains and Taken Hobgoblins) before the Champion treatment. The result is often an encounter that isn't challenging but tilting because it is so unbalanced that you are forced to engage it in a very narrow way. (like in last seasons Bunkers, the onlyway to reliably take out the Overload Captains was with a sword if you were playing solo.)
-
In normal activities they just have the same health as any other unites level enemy. Unless I’m in one the two highest level ordeals, I don’t even bother using the mods because they die so quick.

Edited by NVMYGT: 8/30/2020 10:57:01 AMChampion knights are the worse. Not only can they dodge roll like a hunter and spam fire at the same time...they can shield, regenerate health, and spam fire their boomers all at the exact same time. The splash damage is bad enough that you typically get destroyed while dealing with them solo. (1080 activities) Note: my teammate joined late while I was attempting to solo, he had no champion mods.. i was the only one with anti barrier. Spam fire and splash damage is ridiculous

If players could aquire champion mods like any other mod and apply them to any weapon then it'd be a great mechanic. The way they are now is awful, though. Being forced to use certain weapons in endgame content only because they have access to x type of mod for y reason is annoying.

7 RepliesBarrier and overload can just be melted with falling guillotine. It's the unstoppable ones that I hate.

Just dont put them in raids, everywhere else is fine

No. Just use the correct mods and they go down as fast as red health knights.
