More customization is good, let us use ornaments and shaders on exotics already.

Yeah slightly annoys me everytime I press Y and preview a shader only to see an exotic weapon with it on also, like... Why can't they just allow it to be coated.
-
I dot get why people are saying no, there is literally no downside.
-
Yas plz

1 ReplyI’d rather have an extra mod slot to equip champion mods on exotics than shaders.
-
4 RepliesAlmost no point in people buying weapon ornaments if they implemented this. The exotics come out in plain white or silver so the ornaments are appealing by comparison. Great idea but they've stuck to this since year 1, and it's to maintain eververse sales.
-
2 RepliesThey dont have time for that. Their focus now is trying to convince comunity that their anti cheat is working perfectly.
-
You mean push for something that will never happen and be continually ignored?
-
Don’t give a f**k about shaders, this game has bigger problems
-
1 ReplyJust like I pushed for controller lives matter, but y’all still throwing your controllers around smh

Edited by RopeAdope: 8/26/2020 9:39:53 PMWell, we can at least see what the kinetic exotics would look like with shaders. But implementing it would take a chunk of cash from MTX so ya, never gonna happen Edit: what they should do is allow shader previews for exotic armor and their ornaments before you buy. But once again, they’d lose money after seeing that they look bad (subjectively) or the areas of the armor that DONT change color. Which has been my main gripe about ornaments from jump. You like that cloak and would look dope AF all black? Too bad. There’s brown (why ALWAYS BROWN or GOLD?!) and would look terrible aesthetically. It’s, dare I say it, a gamble.

2 RepliesThe reason there’s no shaders on exotics is because bungie thinks it will drive eververse purchases down due to people prefering to use shaders for customization rather then buying the ornaments. It’s not really that big of a deal, but to bungie, it’s pretty much a deal breaker. They’ll do anything to drive eververse purchases up.

Edited by Abei: 8/26/2020 8:28:38 PMWarning: Nerd explanation as to why we already see shaders in previews for exotics.
Just to make it clear, the reason every weapon seems to have support for shaders is due to how Bungie deal with textures in D2. IIRC they have an RGBA texture that handles rust/damage, occlusion, roughness, emission and even masks to work with shaders on a single texture. The reason we see shaders working on exotics ingame isn't because it was added but the feature to apply a shader was removed, it's just that way due to how they set up their textures that pretty much every entity can support shaders in one way or another. Clearing that out before the assumption is made that this was a feature they went out of their way to make but then removed. It's just their workflow that allows that system to be put in place for the future if they wish.
For my opinion if I'd personally want this? Maybe, just to please my arctic pearl aesthetic. Would it be easy to add? Most likely, yeah. But at the same time, eververse is already almost ignored completely as it is and with this in place you can bet that less people would be interested in ornaments, I don't think Bungie would want that.

1 ReplyNobody cares about this.
welcome to the mute train
-
Something as simple as this that is literally already in game- you got people who say no lol.
-
-
4 RepliesMy question is... why? Exotic armor is one thing, but I am pretty sure no one wants to see a chrome Rat King or a mustard colored D.A.R.C.I. I personally think this is a waste of time compared to what Bungie already has planned for the upcoming year. Also, you can already use ornaments on weapons right? Why the shaders then? I like Abyssal Scream on the Tractor Cannon the way as it is, just an example. :/

Don’t care what it looks like as long as it kills everything in sight💀
-
... I don't play this game anymore but yes...
not included in the DLC
-
4 RepliesCobalt I summon you
-
Yes. Just yes
-
This would be a welcomed game changer for those that enjoy the "fashion" aspect of Destiny's "endgame".
-
7 RepliesThis makes no sense for Bungie to do. IF I was the game developer I wouldn't allow this either. Yes it seems like we are not getting a feature from a player standpoint, but if they implemented this, eververse sales would drop SIGNIFICANTLY. Eververse and new content expansions are their only source of income now that the game is Free to Play. While obviously I would love to have shaders on them, the reasoning makes sense.

1 ReplyRead too fast and assumed you were talking about getting exotic shaders at first. Now into the main question about the post. No it wouldn't make sense on exotic weapon . I'd rather they keep it this way.
-
2 RepliesWhy must you be on trending BAKA?!
-
Its not something that would make me enjoy the game more at this point thb. It would be a meh update for me. I’m not against it, I just don’t care at this point lol.
