Nerf the special ammo economy in PVP.

To start, I am a slightly above average PVP player (1.01 K/D), and I started consistently playing PVP only about 6 or 7 months ago. I have still yet to get a flawless Trials of Osiris card, but I have gotten 6 wins with no losses on the week Bannerfall was the map. You read the title. Spawning in with a guaranteed 2 special ammo is completely broken, especially in games like Survival and Rumble. I don't mind being out-dueled by a primary weapon like hand cannons or auto rifles, because that shows my lack of gun skill, something that I can improve upon. However, whenever I turn a corner and see the little red light pointing directly at my forehead, I know that there is nothing I can do to save myself from certain death, other than out-sniping my opponent. So, if I have my primary out when I turn a corner and see a sniper, the only thing that I can do is try to flinch them off target with my primary, but that rarely happens and I just end up dying anyway, even when I put 1 or 2 shots in my opponent. This game punishes you for using your primary to open up duels. What's even more frustrating is shotgunners. Yeah, I know that I can backpedal away from them, but that still doesn't stop them from taking half my health off before I can even flick back to my opponent. By then, they would have the health advantage and would be putting in shots for the kill with their primary. Even if your positioning is perfect, and you do everything right, there is still a chance that you will be domed on by a sniper or deleted with a shotgun. Now, I'm not saying that we should nerf special weapons, per say. Just the ammo economy. Since you're guaranteed 2 shots when you kill someone (if you have special scavenger on), it makes PVP, especially playlists like Rumble and Survival, not very fun to play. The Destiny 1 system of special ammo was almost perfect; you spawned in with only 1 special ammo, and when you died, you lost it. The way you would get special from that point forward was picking up special ammo crates around the map. There were problems with that system too, don't get me wrong, but it was so much better than the system that we have right now. This change would make PVP much more enjoyable overall, especially playlists like Trials, where the majority of high skill matches are just waiting in the corner and 3 peeking your opponents until one of them shows their head, or -blam!-s up their positioning. I can already forsee the comments saying ye old "git guud scrub" retort, so here's my statement. I'm in the process of gitting gud. I play nothing but PVP, and most of the time I play in Rumble. I have almost 400 hours of total crucible time. I tolerate the Flawlesses and the Unbrokens, and I enjoy learning from how they play. I support the changes made to matchmaking in PVP. If I match against lower skilled opponents, I don't find much fun in winning the Rumble match, since there isn't much of a challenge presented. I play PVP to be challenged in a way that other PVE content cannot satisfy. It's unpredictable, and always changing. This post might be a little messy, but I think you get the basic gist of what I'm saying. Thanks for reading, and have a good one. Edit: I don't want the special changes in 6v6. Only Trials and Survival. Perhaps Rumble as well.

However, whenever I turn a corner and see the little red light pointing directly at my forehead, I know that there is nothing I can do to save myself from certain death, other than out-sniping my opponent.
That's an issue with snipers being literally uncounterable right now, as well as far too versatile for any slow mode's own good. Snipers being too oppressive gives you that.
So, if I have my primary out when I turn a corner and see a sniper, the only thing that I can do is try to flinch them off target with my primary, but that rarely happens and I just end up dying anyway, even when I put 1 or 2 shots in my opponent.
Again, the complaint is snipers being uncontestable, not the ammo economy here.
This game punishes you for using your primary to open up duels.
It's an issue with snipers being extremely overpowered. They were fine in D1 after the flinch changes because they had to play predictably for ammo, and Ice Breaker, while breaking the economy didn't have good stats or perks outside of that.
What's even more frustrating is shotgunners. Yeah, I know that I can backpedal away from them, but that still doesn't stop them from taking half my health off before I can even flick back to my opponent.
See, with a dumb shotgunner, you can see them coming way beforehand. Smart shotgunners are Hell to play against because they position in spots where challenging is suicide. In which the proper solution is to not have Special drop outside of Primary and ability kills, and Quickdraw shouldn't roll on shotguns that aren't Exotic.
By then, they would have the health advantage and would be putting in shots for the kill with their primary. Even if your positioning is perfect, and you do everything right, there is still a chance that you will be domed on by a sniper or deleted with a shotgun.
Against a sniper, it's because snipers need nerfing for a PvP setting, namely flinch, close range performance, and forgiveness.
Now, I'm not saying that we should nerf special weapons, per say. Just the ammo economy.
Refer to the special being generated by Primary or ability kills only.
Since you're guaranteed 2 shots when you kill someone (if you have special scavenger on), it makes PVP, especially playlists like Rumble and Survival, not very fun to play. The Destiny 1 system of special ammo was almost perfect;
The before or after they released arguably the worst PvP update in Destiny history?
you spawned in with only 1 special ammo, and when you died, you lost it.
Ah, the worst update in PvP's history. Year 1 D2 had that, as well (you just got 2 primaries instead of 1 so you could specialize a bit) and it was horrible, since it boiled down to whoever controlled the ammo better could snowball really hard and there was nothing the other team could do about it. That system is horrible and shouldn't even be considered.
The way you would get special from that point forward was picking up special ammo crates around the map. There were problems with that system too, don't get me wrong, but it was so much better than the system that we have right now.
No, no it isn't. The primary issue with Specials is that ammo generation should be slightly limited, Snipers need nerfs to not be impossible to play against, and shotguns need a rework, including the removal of Quickdraw from the perk pool.
This change would make PVP much more enjoyable overall, especially playlists like Trials, where the majority of high skill matches are just waiting in the corner and 3 peeking your opponents until one of them shows their head, or -blam!-s up their positioning.
Again, an issue with snipers being overly oppressive and legitimately overpowered. A sniper nerf would help fix some of that. Namely reducing body damage, removing bullet magnetism, fixing flinch, and increasing the minimum possible zoom.
I can already forsee the comments saying ye old "git guud scrub" retort, so here's my statement. I'm in the process of gitting gud. Perhaps Rumble as well.
See, the big issue with the argument is that it identifies a symptom, not the problem. Fusion Rifles are horrible with exception to Bastion and occasionally Telesto, nerfing the economy without reverting the range changes makes them go from barely usable to completely unusable. And every Breach Launcher not named Mountaintop, Witherhoard, or Fighting Lion has a similar issue to the Fusions. The key issue here is that reworks, nerfs, and buffs need to be made to special weapons, see the Sniper nerfs and removing Quickdraw from shotguns above, as well as traditional Fusions needing MAJOR buffing, and reworks needing to be done on almost all of the Breach Launchers.
