I'll start with the first encounters of Destiny 1.
We first fight them on Mars, thats their 'home' planet that they've taken over well enough for centuries, and humans of course knew this. With this fact, they are well established on Mars and it's kind of futile to try and take the whole planet back, so we let them be, besides, the only real value on Mars is Rasputin. The thing is, when we first go back, it's only to get access to the Black Garden, but the Cabal are just an obstacle in the way of finishing the fight against the Vex. So really, if the cabal are just an obstacle, we have no real purpose in fighting them, but just sort of do. Now because of this, if put yourself in the perspective of the Cabal, you can easily figure out its almost like you're being invaded again in your territory and need to fight off these Guardians. The Cabal were just minding their own business on Mars, not trying to invade or extend territory to other planets, until Oryx showed up.
When Oryx showed up, we all know they made their own war with the Hive and crashed a ship into Oryx's and try to blow up the ships core, blah blah blah. They still never attacked humanity directly. If anything, the Cabal were helping humanity fight off Oryx and his army, but we decided to blast them anyways. On the attempt of them blowing up the ship, we had no real reason to intervene, like cool you guys are gonna blow up the ship, yayyyy for everybody. But we know as Cayde said, "They blow up the ship, the whole system goes with it." At that point, I'm looking on the perspective of the Cabal again, what the hell are these Guardians doing preventing us from finally ridding of Oryx, do you guys not want them gone????
Let's jump to Destiny 2 now, that's was all I remembered of them from D1.
Now alrighty, the big old Red War, yes the Red Legion were the enemies in this. They directly attacked the traveler and us, blah blah blah, we all know. Are the Cabal the bad guys yet? Ehhhh. Its 'only' the Red Legion that attacked humanity and the system. I know I'm making a big stretch here not fully calling them an enemy because of all the other planets and systems they've destroyed, but I stand by it. Ghaul only invaded as a response to a Psion Flayers distress beacon, he was only fulfilling his allies request. Besides the Red Legion, the entirety of the Cabal still remain on their own, never assaulting humanity unless it was to defend themselves.
On with Rasputin now. It was still only the Red Legion that attacked him, ding ding ding, no other army of the Cabal. So my same points go into this just like the Red War, only the Red Legion were the enemies that invaded, the Cabal as a whole still didn't.
Onto Calus and his world-eater. They were never a threat, short and simple. He came over and invited the Guardians onto his Leviathan to see some action is all. That man and his army just chilled out up there, not invading anything or doing anything.
My short final point is the insight terminus strike. What was our purpose in that operation? That was between the Vex and the Red Legion tapping into their stuff. We come in, blast everything, and don't even get well enough intel to do anything with. I see no point in this.
Now I'm bad at concluding posts, so I'll just reiterate. I think humanity are the bad guys against the Cabal. All they did/do was mind their business and then some zombie comes blasting away at their stuff. How rude.

They take one of our worlds. Try to blow up our solar system and kill us. They are the good guys for invading and taking our power and almost destroying humanity but we are bad for not letting them kill us. Makes perfect sense!
-
Hey, Red Legion or not, if a Cabal shoots at me, then I’m gonna shoot back with a bigger gun.
-
The Guardians are the bad guys according to every other race in the System. We’re all just trying to survive. There are no “good” or “bad” guys. There are no “sides”. Just beings fighting for survival in this wretched life
-
Mars: ours Mars: not cabal’s Cabal: bad
-
thats their 'home' planet that they've taken over well enough for centuries
Hence why they are aggressors.
-
The Cabal Empire invaded our territory and forcibly conquered Mars with scout legions and then the entire solar system (temporarily) with the Red Legion.
Sorry, all out of salt.
1 ReplyThe Cabal are conquerors and slavers. That’s all that needs to be said, but if you want more... You can pity the enslaved Psions and the Scouting Legion whose only rest comes with death, but you cannot call an empire that’s spent thousands of years invading and slaughtering and enslaving other species “good.” As a species, they are certainly bad. Not the same kind of evil as the Hive, but very similar in their universal conquest. One could argue that enemies like the Fallen aren’t actually bad because they’re the result of tragedy, but the Cabal are here because they want to conquer everything. Some individuals can be good, of course, but there has yet to be a single Cabal character in lore who has been portrayed as a good person. This is mostly because every character we know is a warrior or politician. There’s only one good individual in the Empire known to us: Match. And he’s a Psion. And he’s dead! Calus acts friendly and has tried to befriend us, but he is not good. One of his acts to befriend us was to order his Loyalists to seek us out and attempt to murder us, and he often gives his Loyalists suicidal orders that they actually obey. Then there was the time he killed almost all the Clipse, the Fulminator became a Shadow to make him promise to never interfere with her species (the Arkborn), all the poor Psion Councilors and scribes he’s used and executed for not obeying him mindlessly, etc. He acts like he’s supposed to be good, but he doesn’t care for anyone else’s lives and is just trying to enjoy himself as much as possible before the end of the universe.

Excuse me, but I tried to hang around with the Cabal peacefully. They ALWAYS try to kill me, even the little Psions that I tried to make friends with. Self defence. Also you're a traitor and enemy of humanity for thinking this and I will report you to the SGP.
-
Space rhinos shot me, so i shot them back. They started it.
-
They're bad guys. So are the Fallen, Scorn, Hive, Vex, and Humanity. We're all evil in the other's eyes.
-
You know the cabal are an empire set on controlling the universe, right? Mars is not their home planet. It’s a military base of operations. For their plan to conquer humanity. The cabal are the bad guys. So are the fallen, scorn, hive, taken, vex, and anything else you might find.
-
So what you’re saying is that the Cabal view the Guardians as their biggest enemy?
-
1 ReplyGuardians, Vanguard, Cabal, they can all do what they want. I'm taking my guardian down Drifter's path.
-
“Guys don’t worry it’s “only” their most elite legion of cabal.” Ghaul likely invaded after seeing the message the Skyburners from Phobos sent to Calus about guardians immortality and the “great machine” that allows it to happen. Wanting to siege that power. Calus is still very much a threat as his lore books from Season of Opulence reference his psions predictions of Calus killing (or getting us to kill) every major character and destroy the planet before we allow him to kill us. Oh and that’s right, they enslaved the psion race. We might be “bad guys” to the cabal in the sense that we have basically wiped them out of our system. But objectively speaking they were never from our system to begin with. They took over our lost cities and attempted to steal bray tech data. They tried to interfere in our war with Oryx. And then they tried to take our traveller, blow up our sun, and drop a star destroyer on the last city. Na cabal are dicks.

Cabal are the American's of Destiny.
-
Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command one by one.
-
9 RepliesThe entirety of this post is all based on your thoughts that the cabal were harmless? Dude they literally conquer and enslave everything why would they be in our system let alone the planet right next to earth if they weren’t going to kill us all. Which is exactly what we knew they wanted to do . If you had actually played destiny 1 surely you would know what cabal are
-
I mean i dunno like i'm pretty sure mars isn't the only planet they control and is definately not their home planet i mean we cant forget the red war and how they were trying to, I dunno blow up the whole solar system like they have done to other places i mean they didnt call Dominus Ghaul Annihilator of Suns, Razor of a thousand worlds and Slayor of Gods for nothing... Right??
-
Yeah we just forget about them blowing up whole solar systems eh? 😂
-
1 Reply<The Psion Flayers from the OG Scout Legions from D1 wanted to -blam!- with Rasputin's tech and Rasputin once rained hell on Ta'aurc's troops.>
-
3 RepliesI always thought the same about our own first encounter with the Cabal. We "stepped into a war with them", but why? They were trapped in a war of attrition against the Vex, who we were fighing at the time hence the required access to the Black Garden. So why didn't we just call them up? "Hey, do you mind if we come and kill some of those Vex you been fighting? Yeah if we do the thing we want to do it should cull them quite a bit and give you guys some breathing space. What? You want to help? Cool!" Instead we systematically kill every one in their command chain right up to Rockets McDickface, murdering thousands of foot soldiers without even trying to communicate. I mean seriously, we are total dicks. Even the Eliksni on Venus got a taste of the Vanguard Crusade.

Umm... Here's the thing For thousands of years they've conquered and enslaved countless world's, stripping them of their resources then blowing them up They TOOK Mars, a human colonized world, that doesn't make it their Homeworld. They then started drilling into mars, altering the natural orbit of one of its moons just so they can drop it on the planet if things go haywire, killing any and all non cabal on Mars and finally started building a solar system demolition legion on Phobos designed to invade and conquer every other planet in sol That's only Mars, so imagine what they did to the psions or the countless other words they've ruined and destroyed
-
Their society is literally built on the destruction of other planets and species, such as the Psions who are literally slaves from a different species. Their leaders are an insane emperor who wants us to help him enslave humanity, and (soon probably) Ghaul’s daughter who imagines, as the Heir Apparent lore describes, “a future where they rule the galaxy once again; where foreign ships fall under their fire and rival nations fall to their knees”. The first thing our Ghost tells us about the Cabal is that they blow up planets that get in their way. I’m pretty sure the Almighty wasn’t made specifically for our system, they have probably wiped out many other civilizations using that same weapon. In short, forgive me for not thinking twice before massacring the absolute -blam!- out of any Cabal I see. I have a feeling that they don’t have my best interests at heart.

How have you never noticed that when we turn up on a planet... they maybe fighting each other... but as soon as they see us.... both sides stop and just shoot us... we have always been the bad guys.
