TV is right: Gunskill is at an all-time low

As he puts it, AR’s have removed the need to be good with a gun in order to reach optimal TTK values. Skill is no longer a barrier to optimal performance. - No super-regen mods for primaries pushes players even more towards heavy special weapon usage. - The possibility of re-working the Intellect stat to only provide a boost to super regen after a kill. I’m not sure how I feel about this, but it’s definitely an interesting concept that would at the very least cut down on camping, especially in Trials. - Too many things getting kills for you- AA/giant hitboxes (Arbalest), sniper flinch pulling the reticle towards the opponent’s head, Mountaintop, etc... I would add aggressive tracking on things like Jotunn or Celestial Fire, and Bastion only requiring 1/3 accuracy for a kill. I think all of these things come down to Bungie’s tendency to make things powerful via high ease of use. They need to realize that the most successful PvP games are balanced, skillful, and competitive.

    • It’s Destiny 2; the PvP isn’t respectable compared to higher tier PvP games. If you want good PvP, play a good PvP game.

                Translation. The sandbox has been arranged to put a higher emphasis on mindskill and smart tactial play. The TTK if fast enough so that smart players have the ability to PUNISH people for over-aggressive play, and being out of position. TV doesn't like it because his business is based around his aggressive, rushing play style and playing with "off-meta" weapons. A fast-killing weapon that is stable and easy to use, makes his thumbskill-based play style less dominant....and is messing with his livelihood. So---in typical streamer/content creator fashion----he is using his platform to try to shape community opinion so that it can pressure Bungie to change the game in ways that suit his play style and the success of his business. Also PVE pays the bills for this game....and PVE doesn't survive without powerful weapons to chase. If TV wants to play Halo....then I'm sure 343 and Halo 5 will be happy to have him. TLDR: You---and TV---are playing the PvP that is part of a LOOT GAME and a POWER-FANTASY game. Which means that this game's Pvp will NEVER be balanced, and will ALWAYS contain an element of contest-of-build-strength. The last time Bungie tried to balance this game for Pvp----vanilla D2---they nearly destroyed the franchise..... ...and guys like TV abandoned teh game because it was BORING, PREDICTABLE, and player interest (and therefor content creation RELEVANCE) plummeted.

But it's not necessarily "low skill." The problem with his point is that no primary in this game is "high skill," from hand cannons that are spammy and have massive amounts of aim assist, to even Scout Rifles that are very easy to pick up, if generally outclassed on most maps. I'm sorry, but 150 hand cannons are not high skill weapons. Supers should be reworked to have either a standard cooldown, maybe having rapid kills or something give more meter. Or it could be like a lot of hero shooters, where supers of different power levels have different cooldowns, ie roaming melee supers charge really slow, but Nova Bomb charges really fast. Plus it's supposed to have less range than other fusions, which isn't the case right now because Bungie overnerfed the hell out of Fusions. Jötunn also barely has tracking. They need to realize that the most successful PvP games are balanced, skillful, and competitive.[/quote] Well, I can name a LOT of PvP games that lack a bunch of them. - CoD isn't balanced or skillful, especially with HK seemingly demanding the MP5 remain the most overpowered SMG in FPS that I can think of. - Battlefield isn't SUPER skillful generally, although everything sans air vehicles is good in those categories (air vehicles are generally either pretty lame or really absurdly powerful). - Siege's global OHK headshots make it extremely imbalanced, since the game heavily favors bullet hoses because of it, and frankly, it takes away some of the skill involved - Fortnite is a TPS, but... Yeah, it has none of these 3 things and it has/had a pretty huge competitive scene - Overwatch has less of a skill gap than Destiny, it's balancing is also a very long running joke of devs being idiots with balancing decisions - Titanfall, what little exposure it had, had pretty bad balancing on either platform (PC there wasn't a point in using a non-SMG, Console was "camp a rooftop with an aimbot AR/LMG simulator") Really the key issue here is console/controller. On PC, pretty much anything that's not a 180 Cannon/Scout, 110 Cannon, 450/360 AR can be used to some effect in a super heavy tryhard setting, granted, snipers need to be nerfed and Fusions need buffed. But because massive recoil and bad aiming controls for controller, things demanding movement, that's why Hand Cannons are only good there when ARs are crap, hell, I'd argue console is why ARs tend to be crap.

                    Sounds like they should just buff Luna and NF back to their old self then we'll get rid of all these auto rifle spamming babies in a weekend. Even with the old Mag Howl being able to 2-tap if you juggle targets, that ttk is in line with what the 600 autos are doing right now. But that was "op" and "broken" right?? But I agree to some extent. I hate how the sandbox favors 1 type of gun and we're stuck with that for about 3-4 months or until bungie decides to "shake it up" again. People are too reliant on cheesey 1hk crap and ability spam in most matches. Oh and the connections and hit detection is still God awful.

                        • Seeing how people use these crutch weapons with either high aim assist like revoker or use truly no skill weapons like mountaintop. All in all the "try hards" are really just a bunch of no skill -blam!- using crutches and will downvote anything that calls for nerfs to crutches. The thought of using skill is something they dont like.

                        • Hitboxes are too big.... been saying this for so long.... recticle stick reduction and small hitboxes will fix it.... all guns are pretty much equally easy to use...

                          Pretty much why Destiny will never be competitive. You almost can't tell difference between decent and good player at least from gunplay perspective.

                            I've made 3 of these 4 points myself long before this video came out. Those posts all got pretty significant upvotes. But this one is gonna be down voted into oblivion because a streamer is mentioned. And that's just sad.

                            • His take on Intellect is a poor one IMO. I get his issue with it, but his solution leans too far into "The Rich Get Richer" which would just snowball matches the same way that the IB Lockout mechanic does.
